Tipp and Limerick well on top, but for a lot of sides Tipp would be out out of sight already, limerick probably already out of sight against wexford

Limerick taking every chance that comes their way

Wexford are really struggling to win any ball from the puck out

Very one sided overall. Early days but impressive showings and scoring from both Tipp and Limerick

Noteworthy high scoring win for Galway today. Waterford beat Kilkenny on an awful Walsh Park pitch and a fantastic win for Kerry in their first match in division 1B

I was listening to our game today and watching the Waterford/Kilkenny game on TV the pitch was like a herd of cattle were left on it before the game

Good win for us,hopefully we can stay competitive in the coming weeks and have a right cut off Offaly in the last game

Was at the Waterford game myself, on a couple of occasions play had to be stopped cause the ball was buried in the turf.

What's happened to Carlow this season? 17 point defeat to London at home.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 335 ✭✭HanaleiJ5N

My (basic) understanding of Carlow is players not happy with management, sought a new management team at the end of last season but county board refused and reappointed the existing management team, which in turn led to a drop in commitment from players, supposedly only 15/16 players turned up for their first game of the season (Walsh Cup?). A lot of their better players making themselves unavailable and yet to return.

Bit of a shame really, that was Carlow's worst result in a very very long time, unless there is a change in management or those players can be convinced to commit they're odds on favourites to be relegated from the McCarthy Cup this year.

    Cork being torn apart here

3 goals in a row. Christ

Was it last year or the year before Cork wiped Dublin off the field in the league.it was as good as all over at half time

Dubs getting their own back now

Last year, they had scored 20 points at half time.

I think Waterford will be up against it on the 13th at home to Dublin. Cork to be relegated i think

Waterford will be fancied to win that game and rightly so.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to Waterford's own Mr doom and gloom PTH2009.

If two teams are tied on points for relegation/play off spot does head to head come into play before score difference?

    Thanks for that.

Limerick are giving Laois a bit of a spanking in Division 1B at the moment. Half-time score and it's 3-15 to 0-6.

Cork ****ed that away and if it stayed level Waterford would be guaranteed 1/2ND place.

The 1b do or die Clare vs Limerick martch next weekend will be some clash. Can see Limerick winning it

I wonder will it be shown on TG4 in full (live or deferred)?

Think you are wrong on this one. A draw tonight and win for KK v Dublin would leave KK on 7 points one more than Waterford if they lost their last 2.

Dublin could finish on 6 points beating Waterford and losing to KK, likewise Gal or Tipp could do so too.

So the draw tonight alone wouldn't have ensured a top 2 for Waterford I think

My mistake hopefully we win 2morrow to guarantee top spot

It will be terrible to lose 2morrow but it will make our final game vs galway very interesting.

Some poor shooting by Tipp so far. 7 wides I think after 17 minutes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,091 ✭✭✭blackcard

Tipp impressive considering they are without Callinan, O'Dwyer and Forde. Ronan Maher playing well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,478 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Cracker of a goal from Canning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,478 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

How is that a yellow card for Noel McGrath

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,558 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Disaster end to the half for Tipp. But McGrath gets booked when blatantly obstructed

    Awful goal to give away

Third game in a row that Tipp miss good chances. Can't win by doing that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,478 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

There's been some lovely points scored in this half.

Tipp miss yet another guilt-edge goal chance.

It looks like Dublin are going to beat Waterford. It's impossible to predict any games these days in the NHL.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,558 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Two fantastic scores at the end by both teams. The sideline cut was immense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,478 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Draw game. Fair result in the end. Very entertaining for the neutral. Cracking sideline cut from Canning to put Galway in the lead with a minute to go, and an even better point from Bubbles to equalise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,478 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

And Dublin beat Waterford 0-19 to 0-14.

Waterford played terrible but Dublin were all over them and deserved the win.

    Dublin cud win this league

Canning scored one goal, one point from play and one sideline cut that were all from the top drawer in the skills department. Magic stuff

    tables after round 4

    1A

    1 Dublin (6pts) PD(8)
    2 Kilkenny (6Pts) PD(6)
    3 Waterford (6pts) PD(3)
    4 Tipperary (3pts) PD(8)

    5 Galway (3Pts) PD(-5)
    6 Cork (0pts)

    1B

    1 Limerick (8pts) PD(56)
    2 Clare (8pts) PD(36)
    3 Offaly (4pts) PD(-7)
    4 Wexford (2pts) PD (-3)

    5 Kerry (2pts) (-32)
    6 Laois (0pts)

    QF as it stands

    Dublin vs Wexford
    Offaly vs Kilkenny
Clare vs Waterford (coin toss for home venue)
    Limerick vs Tipperary

if a team has played less than 3 home games during the group stages they will get home advantage in the quarters. If both teams have played 3 home games or both played 2 home games they will be a coin toss to determine home advantage.

If two or more teams finish on the same number of points, is it points difference (PD) that separates them? Does head-to-head result matter?

My understanding was that it's head to head if 2 teams but points difference if more than 2 teams. According to PTH2009 the head to head rule isn't being used this year.

Was it not in 2014 that Dublin lost on the qfs on points difference ??.

Not 100% sure about the head to head but If it's head to head if kilkenny and Waterford lose then the table will finish

    1 Dublin
    2 Waterford
    3 Kilkenny
    4 Galway/tipp

Yeah it was 2014. McMorrow had a great chance with the last puck of the game to score a point and send us in to the quarter finals but he went for a goal because we were losing by 3 points.

Head to head comes into play if only two teams are level on points. If 3 or more teams are level on points than scoring difference is used to decide positions. If head to head is being used to decide the positioning of teams but they drew then scoring difference is used.

So Waterford will be praying Dublin beat kilkenny if galway beat us ??? For 2ND place

Waterford will top the group if we beat galway and Kilkenny beat Dublin as head to head vs kilkenny would go in Waterford's favour ???

Yeah in 2014 Tipp, Dublin and Waterford all ended on 4 points so it went to point difference instead of head to head.

Not sure id go as far as praying biggrin.png

Win and they come top 2 regardless, 1st or 2nd pretty irrelevant to be honest.
