Flinching means nothing in a stare down. Just cause Conor jumped doesn't mean he was scared.
What do you think about this now? In my eyes this was the start of the end, he showed a mental weakness here.

Whether it does, or doesn't mean anything, you can be damn sure if it had been the other way around flinching would have been made out to be something very important by a hell of a lot of fans on here and elsewhere.

Wouldn't have flinched at FW. McGregor is used to fighting midgets but when someone his own size came along he was put away.

Nah that 1st punch Diaz landed middle 2nd round rocked McGregor in a way all the punches he landed didn't

For me it was this big left that was the beginning of the end.

Agreed, that for me was the end of the fight. Being gassed, does it compromise your ability to weather hits like that?

Conor keeps mentioning when the history books are written but there'll be nothing about UFC in it and even less about Conor McGregor.

Less than nothing? Go back to gloating and stop trying to make sense. It doesn't suit you.

McGregor did a stunning job in that fight.
People that were writing Diaz off were fools.
Diaz is no joke on the mat or standing.
He was never getting knocked out, the dude has been TKO'd once in 20 odd fights.

Conor has learned that one punch won't knock out the bigger guys like the smaller guys.
So with a different approach he still has a good chance in the heavier weight I think.
Anyway I enjoyed the fight and Conor's and Nates comments after.

If they fought again I think Conor would either beat him on points or knock him out late on

Hahahahahah mental weakness went straight for him when the bell rang and unloaded bomb towards him,the actions of a scared man.

Lots of post fight analaysists on here yet 99% of them predicted nothing of the sort PRE FIGHT,monday morning quarter back as they say in America, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Yes, 3 garbage fighters. 2 who are top 5 in their divisions and Kampmann (retired now) a longtime top 10 welterweight.

    All class to watch too.

    Good man

Definitely. He had also taken a few other shots.

They are small wrestlers with nothing to add to Conors game,he has ko'd one of them and the other is a choker about 40 and about to get crushed by Cruz,

Kampmann was a good fighter nothing special no reason to go train with him,

Bit of a stretch considering next time Diaz has a full camp.

Diaz is the better fighter on the evidence Ive seen,I think he'd be fitter and much harder fight at 155 Conor would have to change his hole game plan to a point scoring round stealing kinda game to beat him,its not impossible but not easy either,

He was not overly troubled by much of Conors shots,he is not really one punch ko'able I remember Benson put him down with a right hook and he recovered from it,same with thompsons tko off him he took that shin to head and didnt even drop somehow he had to land a heap more strikes to get the tko.

Conor is a striker . Has always been . He has done it since he started MMA and carried it into the UFC .

I find it bizzare that John Kavanagh has took all the credit for his rise and not Owen Roddy.

Why was JK giving his advice on what combos to throw . Why isnt Owen Roddy doing this ?

    I find it strange

What could ever make you think this?

Diaz out boxed Conor... without his left hand he has nothing. How do you think Conor would go the distance when he gassed in the 1st round here, gassed in the 2nd against Mendes and has never even fought a 5 round fight.

Diaz has Conor beat in every aspect, striking, ground game, cardio, mentality.

Never thought I'd be extolling Conor's virtues to Gamebred of all people. Strange days!!

Conor is far and away the better and more complete fighter of the two. I'm a huge fan of both guys and have loved watching Nate fight since he first appeared on TUF 5 but Conor was easily the main architect of his own demise.

I definitely agree that if he was hunting points instead of a TKO he would have done better. It was Conor's total lack of gameplan that led to his defeat more than anything else. A calculated gameplan could have seen Conor decimate Diaz slowly over the course of 3 or four rounds and there is no doubt in my mind that if he had been patient he could have gotten the legit stoppage that he was hunting so furiously, too early on. McGregor believed too much in his own hype and just didn't give Diaz the respect that he deserved.

Where I disagree with you though is that IMO Conor remains the better all-round fighter of the two. A rematch (at any weight) would be a very different fight and very different result.

Cardio can be trained and so can patience. Which is the main thing COnor lacked against Diaz. An intelligent gameplan based on low strikes to the body and legs would be a nightmare for Diaz. Diaz was more efficient with his strikes for sure but when all aspects of a striking game are considered, he is not a better striker than McGregor. Diaz moves in straight lines and has a huge glaring weakness when it comes to defending his body and legs.

Conor was far too impatient and paid the price by trying to take his head off when he should have been sniping at the legs and body to create openings up top for the later rounds.

You can say that a rematch is a different result but you have to remember Diaz hadnt a proper camp for his,so not only does Conor have to improve to beat that version of diaz its likely Diaz will be improved too with serious hard training done,

Conor had no answer for his reach imo,and boxing in general and I do agree he loaded up and gassed but you cant discredit Nates win I think he was playing possom a bit too,

This is great experience for Conor adversity in the ufc finally,Diaz was in wars like this for years hes a wise cat under his pothead persona,as Big a fan of Conor as I am I cant make excuses for his loss, theres probable reasons ie weight cardio problems but Diaz overcame conors striking and mentally and physically broke em,

Conor went on an incredible run after his last loss so he will bounce back but gotta give Nate his credit.

Because John kavanagh is his coach and what's the point in having 3 or voices coming from your corner?
And just to point out jk was a coach/trainer/instructor ever before Owen Roddy stepped into an mma gym. Roddy joined kavanaghs gym and learned his trade, therefore the only voice worth listening to in mcgregors corner is jk

And that's nothing against Owen he is an excellent fighter himself and now a proven trainer

JKs backround is BJJ . Conor never uses it when he's fighting at all . So have a BJJ expert in his corner ? Why not have someone who is an expert in what he actually uses ?

Why didn't Diaz knock the face off him when he had him on the ground? With McGregor was completely at his mercy, he seemed to give him the easiest/softest option to tap out. And why did he tap out so quickly?

I may very well be wrong here but is JK not jiu-jitsu only? Surely if Roddy is there he should be shouting instructions regarding stand up and JK when it goes to the ground?

However all this pales in significance to the fact that Ido Portal was in his corner. I mean what the hell?

He does have Roddy in his corner. They talk during rounds and JK relays the advice to Conor. Every fighter has a lead corner person who talks but that doesnt mean theyre making all the decisions.

Dammit wrong person. Stupid broken quotes
