Didnt think much of the first Ride Along but enjoyed it this week with Sheamus and Barrett. It even had some Irish Whip Wrestling footage.

Update today and the vault added back.

ECW TV from 98 being added so my plan is to watch in the same week for the whole year ECW, Raw and Nitro from 98!

Anyone know if the Android and PS3 apps have been updated?

Annoyingly, there is an episode of Raw missing from 1997. February 13th. It aired on a Thursday instead of the usual Monday and is kinda an important episode. It's the one where Shawn Michaels loses his smile and vacates the WWF Championship. Worst thing is I don't expect it to be fixed. The episode count isn't missing a number so it seems they don't count it because it wasn't a Monday.

There are other omissions too - the "Raw Bowl" episode from Jan 96 (?) isn't there. There were two episodes of Raw on Fridy in late August 1997 - there was some golf or tennis on USA that week so no Raw on Monday. I don't expect these omissions to be addressed either

A year 2000 Raw from April/May is missing as well.

There's one episode missing. It's episode 366, 29th of May. It featured a live Kid Rock performance, so there' obviously copyright issues there.

Could they not have edited that bit out?

They completely edited out the Highway to Hell video back in 98 so I don't think it'd be copyright. Plus Kid Rock is one of the 5 Bands of Doom! That's like Saliva saying 'you can't use our stuff!'

The loss of that mini- Highway to Hell film is a damn shame, up there with the Undertaker/Triple H Wrestlemania 27 entrances and loads of 80s music cues being lost. No decent copy of the Highway to Hell video ever made it on to Youtube, just very low quality VHS rips. They edited it out of the SummerSlam VHS release back in the hence it missing from Silvervisions Tagged Classics

Is it just me or is 1.2 million still very low? I know a lot of places don't have great internet but Raw still gets 3.5 million most weeks. Considering how hard they've pushed it, only about a third of your current audience signing up isn't great. I have a hard time believing the other two thirds fall into the bad internet category.

Two years isn't a long time, but the number has been in or around the same for over a year now. Slightly up or slightly down but no major change. Has it already reached its peak? Can't imagine WWE being too happy if it doesn't get much higher than its current level.

WWE Network was recognized as the fifth largest direct-to-consumer (“OTT”) subscription service in the U.S. according to Parks Associates, ranking alongside Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu and MLB.TV

I dunno, and all they offer is wrestling and the weekly tv shows are not even live on it.

I think turning 1/3 of your non-paying audience into paying audience is actually a great turnover. I think free -> pay conversion is usually around 10%. In general B-PPVs were lucky to get 200,000 (I know the profits from that were a lot higher than a Network sub, but still) Like Mania at it's peak, the pinnacle of the wrestling year, usually can't reach 1.2m.

Wrestling's not that hot either, like in general people aren't happy with the current show, there's just pockets of good stuff in a sea of filler. WWE are just expanding into more markets, should help out, but they're having their cake and eating it too with the Network AND a TV deal. I think having both maximises their profits (putting RAW on the Network would only give a bit of a bump, I reckon a lot more would just simply stop watching).

I'm still shocked they haven't taken WrestleMania off the network - guarantee they'd keep the 1.2m but get a million buys.

They should bury Roman Reigns if they want to get better figures. Hate him so much. Brock is the only reason I'm still watching WWE to be honest. The rest is sh*te. Ambrose needs to bulk up as well, he looks like an anorexic bitch.

I think they'd lose a ton of subscribers out of protest, probably the exact kind of people who'd generally forget or not care that it's automatically renewing each month.

Now, what they could do is charge a premium for HD or something, get an extra $5-10 off each subscriber that wants it in HD, could easily cover Brock's annual contract at least.

I've been sharing it with a mate since launch. Well worth a fiver a month

I know what you mean (I'm one of them!) but wrestling fans are also the type to talk a big game and still support wrestling. We're worse than gamers when it comes to giving in because we love the medium so much!

Oh Goddamn, that'd be so cheeky! It's work, they'd have me for another fiver! TBH $10 is really cheap for all the WCW I get to watch :P

Just watched the end of KOTR 2001 again. Once again kurt angle looked in serious pain towards the end of the match(but then he did crack his tailbone) and either Austin was selling like a boss or Booker tossing him through the announce table hurt him. I say that as Austin is hobbling to the back at the end of the main event. He genuinely looks in pain.

I meant just for Mania, considering how much it probably costs them for that one night to be able to handle the streaming costs, it'd be a good way of regulating it some too.

Hey, if it talked them into unsubscribing and then buying Mania as a PPV, the majority probably wouldn't subscribe again until the summer. Wrestling fans basically always come back, but the lapsed periods can be pretty huge.

Austin injured his back something fierce on that table bump. So much so that I believe he didn't wrestle again until the Invasion PPV. On Raw and SD he was mostly in comedy skits with Vince and Kurt because he couldn't bump. Such a shame because he had q good start to 2001 but then people got injured (Benoit, HHH) or too a hiatus (The Rock).

They would want to provide 1080 HD first because as of now it is only 720HD.

perfect opening so, either plan of $10 extra for mania in 1080p or $15 a month for a 1080p network overall would give them a little more money. Putting 1080 as a premium price would also serious alleviate the bandwidth costs of having WM streamed too.

This is very true. Although I think we're up there with gamers in the "empty threat" category!

I gotta say, I wasn't looking forward to Big Show on Austins podcast at all, but that was easily one the best ones yet. Big Show was so open and honest about his career and wasn't afraid to call out things he thought didn't work, it was very refreshing. He evens brings up the constant face/heel turns!

The part with his dad though, I almost lost it along with him, it was so sad. You all need to do yourselves a favour and watch it, you won't regret it.

Yeah Show's interview was surprisingly decent.

One thing I like to do with the Network is once every month or so myself and a friend of mine that's big in to wrestling drink and watch one of the notoriously bad WCW PPVs. It's good fun, my friend likes to call it Redneck drinking.

My friend has been hoping TNA goes out of business so WWE can buy their library and we can do the same with bad TNA PPVs :pac:

We all eagerly await the day we can watch Victory Road 2009 on the WWE Network.

It's like "The Room" of pro-wrestling, a masterpiece of awfulness.

WWE doesn't even acknowledge the existence of TNA (and rightfully so), I doubt they'd even consider it! :D
