    Just so posters know
Attachments arent working since the ddos attack on boards
Uplink photos somewhere and post the link

Also don't get too excited about our current polar maratime air
Its not capable of much away from hills, the same as we've had this source at anytime this winter

Some flurries possible for southern counties too tomorrow.
Tonight will be cold with clear spells and little or no wind. There will be a widespread sharp to severe frost and ice forming again on untreated surfaces. There will also be widespread fog forming overnight, dense in places by morning. In the south cloud and patchy rain will fall as sleet or snow towards dawn and there'll be showers along the north and northwest coast. Lowest temperatures between minus 2 and plus 2 degrees in light variable or slack winds.

Sun came out for around 30mins, had a nice walk in the light breeze.
    Feels like spring today.
Cloudy again now, but did enjoy it while it was there.

No rain after a wet and wild start to the day here SOuth Kerry 400 asl. Drove to Killarney in rain and fog. with glimpses of the snowy mountains at rare intervals. By the time I started home it was trying to settle and clouds draping the tops..from the viewing place to Moll's Gap has to be the wildest, most barren place there is. Looking down, the houses scattered thinly along the Black Valley are dwarfed by the majestic rocks that catch the clouds as they pass... Now I remember long ago opening the met ie site to see the words. " There is no weather today" and that is my wish now for a few days. Time to breathe and live.. Imogen has sparked arthritis and the pain of the M;E so I am abed for the duration and thankful for a pause in the dramas. Bitter cold now but quiet. Sweet silence...The back mountains are still snowy so winter is not over yet and the weekend looks to be .. snowy...

Graces7 you should consider writing a book, you have a wonderful way of describing even the simplest of things, I often can imagine your house and your views so clearly. Keep warm, keep well and never stop posting here I'm sure I'm not the only one to enjoy your posts

    Wow thats a lot alright.
If that much fell, imagine how much snow must have fallen on croagh patrick or nephin near by!

And it's lashing rain! Bit of ice in there too, unusual considering the temp of 7.6c.

Does anyone think that the Winter 2013 / 14 rainfall record will be beaten by the end of this month?

..There is no weather today ... :-)

Sure, we'd all curl up and wither away without the weather to talk about. We're IRISH .. we HAVE to talk about weather, its almost compulsory :-)
Hope your warm, toasty and pain free ..

There has been show on the top for a few weeks now and there has been an extra few CMs in the last few days. I would think it could be maybe 20 to 30 CMs there now.

Sunday and Monday would be great, could be up to half meter there after weekend.

That video I posted a page back is the nearest public road to lug on its east side, and even there today at 1500 ft theres more than 6 inches
Last night alone will have dropped an extra 5 or 6 inches, so probably up to 2 feet or more at the peak(which is 1500 ft higher than where the video was taken) with a lot of drifting
You'd want to have someone very experienced with you

A really nice day today probably better because of what's went before it. We'll take anything at this stage.

Sorry but where was there intense thunderstorm activity in May & June 2014?

May 20th, a classic frontal thunder storm that lasted the guts of a hour.

June 10th, the 4th consecutive day of frequent and intense thunderstorms that affected much of the country.

    ARvGoSm.png

Even more good thunder activity later that month. October 2014 also saw some more intense storms along the west coast but more especially so in the likes of Cork, Waterford and Wexford.

Mullingar at -1c already at 8pm. I'd say they have gotten alot of the frosts there this year. No other station at or below 0c at the 8pm reports.

Here in West Clare, the temp got to a low of 2.8c about 20 mins ago (Lowest temperature this month), but climbing again, now 3.4c.
