just rain here in the Kilkenny city

If not working today, or if you get an hour off and once it is raining and marginal for snow, you should take a drive up to the hills on the east side of Kilkenny, and you should see the rain turning to sleet, then snow.
I'm telling you, in winter, Kilkenny has two different climates - the low ground where they get more frost, and the hills that have lower day time temperatures.

Indeed, the local roads around Ossoryhill and Mount Nugent rise to over 250m and are only a stones throw from the city. Well worth the trip, if safe to to so.

Or, to the NE of the city, the Mount Nugent Upper to Reevanagh road climbs to over 300m - I would expect the roads to be treacherous at that height.

How do people describe wet snow- 'I say it's not sticking', my wife says 'it's not landing'. She reckons the way I say it is weird!!!! I think its a country thing- she's from Tipp:rolleyes:

Trevor Harley's monthly weather history is always a great read. Now it mostly pertains to the UK but Ireland is often mentioned. As it's February here's a link to that month..
