Will Cleveland cut him? I don't see Dallas offering anything in a trade for him.

I think this latest incident whatever happened I think is helping cleveland to make the decision to cut him. Cleveland have tried to help him but from what I've seen he doesn't learn and doesn't care. He clearly doesn't understand something called optics.

Sitting courtside at a cavs game is the last place he should've been when the last hassle was happening.

Including college football, this is the first weekend since September 5th that there was been no football (the Pro Bowl doesn't count). That's 22 weekends in total, or in other words - 5 and a half months.

Torture, and a taste of what's to come during the offseason.:(

If anyone's searching for something to watch, I'd recommend 'The Hunting Ground'. Easily found in the usual places.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4185572/
An exposé of rape crimes on U.S. college campuses, their institutional cover-ups, and the devastating toll they take on students and their families.

Very apt considering some of the alleged incidents involving players in recent times, and it includes Winston's accuser.

It looks like Megatron will actually retire!

    https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/693920859614900226

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14686284/calvin-johnson-told-detroit-lions-plans-retire
Star receiver Calvin Johnson told his family and a close circle of friends before last season that 2015 would be his final year in the NFL, and he delivered the same message to coach Jim Caldwell the day after the regular season ended, sources told ESPN.

Caldwell told Johnson not to rush his decision -- to take his time, sources told ESPN. Out of respect to Caldwell, Johnson agreed to do just that, according to sources.

The Lions have not given up hope that Johnson could change his mind, but one person who knows Johnson well said, "He's pretty content with his decision."

After nine seasons in the NFL, Johnson's body is beaten down. The five-time Pro Bowler has battled lingering ankle injuries and general body soreness to the point that it makes it difficult for him to return for another season during which time he would turn 31 years old.

Johnson's body has been so sore, and his conviction so strong, that he shared his decision to retire after the 2015 season with only two teammates -- quarterback Matthew Stafford and linebacker Stephen Tulloch, with the request that they keep it private and confidential, according to sources.

Stafford and Tulloch honored the request, and the rest of the Lions organization did not learn of Johnson's plans to retire until after this season, according to sources. At that time, the Lions issued a statement from Johnson that said, "Like many players at this stage of their career, I am currently evaluating options for my future. I would expect to have a decision regarding this matter in the not-too-distant future."

The Lions, in turn, said, "We obviously have profound respect for Calvin and certainly understand and appreciate his decision to give proper thought and consideration to his football future."

But unless Johnson has the change of heart that the Lions still are hoping for but many are not expecting, one of the greatest players in franchise history is likely to walk away from the game.

Johnson played in all 16 games this past season, hauling in 88 receptions for 1,214 yards and nine touchdowns. It was his sixth consecutive 1,000-yard season and the seventh of his career.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 draft, Johnson had his best year in 2012, when he set the NFL single-season record with 1,964 receiving yards. He is the Lions' all-time franchise leader in career receptions (731) and receiving yards (11,619).

A great WR seems a smart guy so will likely not have any financial worries, massive loss for detroit

Calvin Johnson is retiring, was not expecting to see that this week at all.

Nothing confirmed yet, but it doesn't look good.
Losing him would severely hamper the Lions offence in the first full year under new OC Cooter. Would also vault WR as a big need in the draft.

Jesus the old megatron news is fierce similar to Barry sanders retirement.

Sad to see Megatron go if it happens. Only 30 years of age.

The toll of the NFL on a big WR's body seems to be the story here, big loss to Detroit.

Big loss to the game as well. Will be missed seems like a great guy!

This might start to be the rule rather than the exception. Players who have played up to a multimillion dollar deal, are definitely starting to look ahead into life post-football and deciding it's not worth it imo. Johnson's legacy is set and maybe he sees how far away the Lions are from contending and realising it's just not worth the long-term health risk. Time will tell, he really was a fantastic player even though we din't really see his full potential at Detroit.

Just took a look at some of the programming Sky have lined up for Super Bowl week......clear out your planner, they have loads of great documentaries, NFL films stuff (and some Neil Reynalds stuff!) Jersey Guys and The Merger look interesting as i love watching the old NFL footage, while some of the great games include, The Catch, The ice Bowl, The Fumble, The legendary Chargers/Dolphins playoff gaame - not sure it has a name!

I don't think the Lions are far from contending at all. They went 6-2 over the second half of the season with the new OC in place, which resulted in Stafford playing as good as he ever did in his whole career. During that 8-game span he posted a passer rating over 110, 70% completion percentage & threw 19 touchdowns against 2 interceptions.
Couple that with a decent defence in which Levy should return to help (after missing all of last season), a much more favourable schedule & I believe a trip to playoffs is certainly possible, where anything can happen once that stage is reached.
If Johnson retires though, it would leave a gaping hole in the WR corps, unlikely to be filled easily & may possibly jeopardise making it to the post-season.

I agree with you big time. I thought that once the new OC came in they played really well and their defence was good when they were competing offensively but they really need Mega Tron.

This explains a hell of a lot.

Stork literally bobbed his head up instantly before every snap, giving a massive tell to the broncos. No wonder Brady was getting assaulted in the 2nd half.

interesting piece alright and in terms of coaching, would suggest that it wasnt being coached out of him or corrected during the game.

how does brady or belichek or mcdaniels or in particular the o-line coach really should have spotted that and gotten it adjusted during the game

It is just incredible that this could happen so much during such an important game.

    Thanks for linking.

who called cam newton a scumbag hooligan  there was a small group of people that claimed the dance upset them and then most of america rushed to his defense but the guy is supposed to be "hated"

    everybody loves cam
I don't think that's too true, or at least it wasn't before this season (Americans tend to love players for their performances more than their personalities). His in game video from half(ish) way through the season when he was mic'd up was great though; real classy guy and really showed how much of a leader he is.

Manziel absolutely does get a pass in the American media. But he's white so it's not surprising.
I think there is definitely a difference in how black and white QBs are treated as a default/coming out of college, but I'm not sure if that's the case here. Manziel strikes me as more of a Jamarcus Russell than anything else; a running joke that never seems to end. Prior to Purple Drank, the crown was owned by Ryan Leaf.

Between those three especially (and laugh at McDaniels as a coach all we want, he is a very good offensive co-ordinator) it really is quite staggering nobody picked it up.

Maybe that's the reason the Pats got rid of their OL coach.
