Today the magical mystery tour with Ecoli was resurrected after a few months hiatus. Was happy to be back doing this as although they usually hurt a bit they are great for motivation and improvement.

Met up in the papal cross car park earlier this morning. Really mild morning bordering on warm but there was a decent wind blowing. Was told that we'd be doing 10 miles with 1k alterations, 7.30/7.40 & 6.50/7.00.

Once we got going I was really sluggish and I was glad to have someone with me as I could have easily wimped out if I was on my own. First few were a slog but I started getting into it and feeling stronger. Last few had me puffin a bit though and I wouldn't have been able for many more. Ecoli the fecker jogged off to get some more miles done!

Got back to the car park and I'd left my window wide open, luckily nothing taken (I'd cash, passport, suitcase and iPhone in the car!!!) maybe the photo of Tang on the dash scared them off :)

Enjoying the plan on this cycle and I think it suits me. Onwards and upwards.

    Splits below

Previous owners of the company are bringing us out to a pretentious restaurant tonight and billeting us in the Shelbourne, I'd prefer to be eating with Toyboy Tang in the Enfield kebab house :) Checked into the hotel and had a bit of time to kill so I got a 4 mile recovery done through the commuter throngs and traffic.

    4 miles @ 10 min pace.

    15 miles for the day.

I'd avoid Papal Cross car park TbL if I were you. It's just too quiet on a week day morning. Anywhere along the main avenue would be much safer imo.

Today plan called for some easy miles.

Had planned on getting 8-10 miles done but didn't wake up till 9.50, missed my flight but also the opportunity to get the miles in.

Might have been a bit of a blessing in disguise as the top of my shin is very stiff and choked. Flew over to London this evening and hit the hotel treadmill. Did 4 miles at recovery pace and spent a fair bit of time foam rolling the shin.

I'm in London all day tomorrow and am brining the young lad to a soccer match on Saturday so I'm gonna struggle to get any miles in.

Friday & Sat: plan called for some easy miles.

Was meeting with the new owners of the Company on Friday and travelling up to Stoke on Friday evening to meet my Dad and young lad as we were going to the Stoke/Palace match on Saturday. 'Twas a crap match and I didn't get home till 2am Sunday morning. Got no runs in, top of shin and the top of the calve behind the knee were very tight so I wasn't too bothered as I thought a day or two off would do no harm!

Sunday: plan called for a 16 mile progression run, 6 easy, 6 steady, 4 at PMP. Was it Iceville in Galway doing the Santa thing with the kids and their cousins all day and had to drive to Limerick on Sunday evening. Managed to get out to do this at 7pm, only managed 7.5 miles as I still had a fair bit of discomfort from the leg. I had a fairly nasty shin injury exactly 2 years ago that knocked me out for two weeks and this was playing on my mind, pulled the plug, and was a bit despondent as the week had started out well but petered out and I only ended up with 45 miles for the week.

Monday: got a massage today and it took a fair bit of the stiffness away, so I decided to try the 16 mile progression run.

After a mile warm up I met up with a 2.40 something, marathoner that I know, he was out doing 16 easy miles and we ran together. Pace was a little hot but it was very windy and that made it easier for the first few miles. After about 12 miles he went his own way and I tried to up the pace but it wasn't happening as I was running into a very strong head wind and the effort level would have been far too high.

Decent session nonetheless and the leg didn't get any worse. Didn't nail the session but it was a half decent salvage job after yesterday's premature ending.

    Splits:

    8.10
    7.20
    7.24
    7.32
    7.17
    7.31
    7.17
    7.27
    7.34
    7.53
    7.24
    7.13
    7.31
    7.02
    7.10
    7.28

    I said 2.40, not 4.40 :)

Tnx for the concern on the bone front, although you might want to look after your own, one rattle with me in Moyvalley and your hips are outta alignment :)

Have a great Christmas, my missus is now asking me who Tang1 is ;)

Happy Christmas to you and all the family

The match didnt look much on the highlights apart for the winning goal which was a screamer. Palace would have been very lucky to come away with a draw let along sneak the win but we will take it.

Today the plan called for easy miles.

After a mad day in town trying to buy Mrs TbL a delux sewing machine, I eventually got out for a wet and windy Nursing Home special around a sodden local loop.

Back in town tomorrow to pick her up a tea making alarm clock!

I would have thought you'd have a stash of gifts at the ready, having liberated them from various hotel rooms around the globe.

Or maybe Tang's getting those :D

Merry Christmas, I hope the new year brings you more running and less travel.

Yesterday: plan called for easy miles, was in town all day yesterday and brought the kids karting by the time I got home storm Eva was in full flow and I wimped out, retired to the fireside with a trough of mince pies and fresh cream! No run.

    Today: plan called for 5 x 8 mins @ 7.00, 6.50, 6.40, 6.40, 6.40, off 2 mins recovery

Should have reigned in the mince pies as my guts were in ribbons. Got this done locally and it was still very windy, with swirling cross winds.

Road was also very busy with cars whizzing by, and I also got lashed by a blast of hailstones.

    8 min Reps:

    1. 6.59 pace
    2. 6.46
    3. 6.24
    4. 6.36
    5. 6.37

    12 miles done in total.

A very happy Christmas to one and all.

Traveled to Iscghl via Zurich yesterday. It's a ski resort in Austria, very posh and full of fancy Dans. The Bogger clan rolled into town bringing down the tone of the place. Got a really nice hotel right beside the ski lifts, you can ski right up to the back door. When I say "you", I mean people of a certain skiing capability, that excludes the Bogger clan. I was skiing once about 20 years ago and I swore never again, I started Avalanches, left cartoon type shapes in the mountain side and knocked kids like skittles in all directions. Not much has changed, I'm still a Buff (big, ungainly, fat, focker) and it wasn't pretty. Mrs TbL wanted to go and let the kids experience it so reluctantly I capitulated. Kids were happy out but unfortunately got their skiing DNA from their father. I think the majority of the snow was artificial but been a citizen of the Republic of Connemara, I'm no snow expert. There was plenty of it, whatever it was and the place was packed with skiers and snow boarders.

This week Ecoli has me doing an hour a day on the treadmill (outside running not an option) with some faster stuff thrown in on a couple of days. I'll get the long run when I'm back in Connemara on Sunday.

The hotel gym closes at 8pm so after a hectic first day falling on my fat arse, I was tight for time.

Got 52 mins easy done before I was thrown out.
