There's a number of people already mentioned I'd agree with are snubs such as Robinson, Walker and Jones.

From a Lions point of view however Slay is a massive snub. He's been a true lockdown corner since a poor first few weeks and while he hasn't had the interceptions he's someone that's allowed relatively few yards.

Bit confused how Megatron is there but apparently he wasn't even in the top 10 for fan voting which probably just speaks to how respected he is in coaches minds.

Dalton or Eli ahead of Big Ben? No way on earth sir... Ben has been sensational this season.

Dalton has been a peripheral MVP candidate.

The Mannings are a very influential family in the league. Any chance we can blame this on... an Eli Manning turnover?

In fairness the NFL needs its stars on big prime time games.

This is an actual ****ing joke

    Very surprising

After hearing the pre game taunt/bat angle, I actually starting to think today they'd let him off.

Handy excuse for them, and everyone will tune in now to watch him in the prime time game v Vikings (that game was rescheduled to prime time only last week, too)

Can only laugh at the NFL. We talk about players setting bad examples for the future players and kids but the NFL themselves are a sh1t show and there handling of the rules is muddy at best. No transparency at all and inconsistency all round and their priorities are up their rear end.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 929 ✭✭✭JCTO

Kids if you allegedly tamper with footballs your team will lose a draft pick and be fined 1m dollars and you will be banned for 4 games.

Oh you will also be heavily fined for wearing the wrong apparel even if it represents your support for a charity.

Smash someone in the head with a tackle or hit that is dangerous and should see you ejected from a game. Don't worry if you are a big time player no ejection and a 1 game ban. But wait a second we may overturn your ban all together again if you are a primetime player if you are due to star in a prime time game.

Bottom line kids it is ok wink wink if you are a primetime player to go out and smash someone in the head but don't even think about wearing the wrong apparel or deflating footballs.

Adam Scheffer (who i trust more than Jaws) just tweeted

So it looks like no decision has been made yet.

Now Chris Mortensen (who is a reliable source I'd day) tweeted

Scrap that last Mortensen report. It looks like suspension is upheld

Right decision to keep it upheld, but I would have enjoyed the drama immensely if they hadn't.

People's heads were exploding on Twitter when the rumours of it being overturned surfaced so yeah, it would have been very entertaining.

Confirmed on the nfl facebook. Rightly upheld

Now Chris Mortensen (who is a reliable source I'd say)

He was badly exposed on deflategate, can't be taken seriously after that. Looks like you posted a fake though. Look at the twitter handle.

Not enough is being made of the fact that the Panthers are odds on to go 16-0. Yes, I know they had a soft schedule but Jesus they're only the 2nd team in history to do so if it happens. Unbelievable achievement which is not getting the recognition it deserves. Imagine if it was one of the more established teams like the Patriots, Ravens, Packers, Steelers etc. We'd never hear the end of it.

ya its a massive deal in fairness i think part of the reason that the pats got so much press was because until the last few weeks of the season they where anialating everybody whereas there is a legitimate question as to weather this team are faves for the Super Bowl none the less if they go undefeated they deserve far more plaudits than they have been getting so far

When you look at their team this year, they have every chance of a perfect season that the Patriots had in '07.
Good defence and a healthy offence that's able to put up big numbers.

As a Pats fan, there'd be some sour grapes if they achieved it, but it would still be an amazing thing to see.

They currently have 18 straight regular season wins. A fact that will probably be overlooked if and when they do get beaten.

You can't count wins from a different season. :p

It's incredible and I hope they don't rest starters to kill it off.

I had them pegged at 500 or less pre-season.

4/1 is all you get on them to go 19-0 at this point. Keep pounding! as they say in them there parts!

Cam a generous 1/14 for the MVP at this juncture.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 805 ✭✭✭SameOleJay

A really amazing stat on the Saints' D from another board.
    QB1: 68%, 8.6 YPA, 4053 yards, 39 TDs, 6 Ints,
    QB2: 64%, 7.7 YPA, 4405 yards, 35 TDs, 6 Ints.

QB2 is Tom Brady, QB1 is the aggregate QB against the Saints defense. Their passing D is so bad, that the Saints are basically facing a better version of Tom Brady every week.

I remember Ryan’s first year and what looked an elite group with Jordan, Vaccaro, Galette all looking like studs to build around. Shows how quick things change.

Think I mentioned this earlier, but in week six I stumbled on the following for teams to go 16-0 (so regular season only):

    Pats: 20/1
    Packers: 28/1
    Broncos: 35/1
    Bengals: 80/1
    Panthers: 325/1 !!!!

Slightly rough numbers there but I just remember being gobsmacked that the Panthers were so much further out than the Bengals (whereas I could understand the top 3 odds, big name QB = money being put on them). I sent a WhatsApp to a friend, who was eager to lump on the Pats and Packers which I told him was not a good idea - maybe a tenner each or something, but not worth putting on more than 20. I also told him over and over to get his loose change together and put a small bet on the Panthers, maybe 50c up to a fiver tops. It looked like it was probably gonna be throwing the money away, but it would also give him a second team to shout for during the season (he's a Rams fan, and it was clear they weren't going to go too far even that early).

I went to do the same myself, but my PP account was empty since I had cleared it a few months back. I'm also in Toronto this year, and my Canadian card wouldn't work on the website. Contacted tech support, and they told me they had to freeze my account since you can't gamble online from Canada - didn't know that applied here too, thought it was only the US. Sickener!

Anyway, found out the other day that he never put the spare change bet on for the Panthers, and I'm still raging on his behalf :pac: . The price of a pack of crisps and small bottle of Coke would be returning him about a grand to pick up Jan 4th to kick the New Year and beat post-Christmas brokeness with... and he could have covered this week and next at maybe 100 Euro each (Falcons are 12/5 to win, Bucs will be much longer odds next week if Panthers win).

I just can't believe that he didn't put the bet on, and that I couldn't! :(:o
