Went looking for unsold papers for wrapping as we were moving house. They didn't have any as now the entire paper is returned to the publisher.

Might be different in another shop.

Everywhere does full copy return now. However, they generally don't check the insides of the papers...

I remember back in the late 90's the Supervalu next to my secondary school used to have a bunch of old magazines regularly chucked at the end of a cashier's desk for people to take. Was like a little adventure popping in to see what you could pick up. Used get heaps of computer and car magazines. Nirvana for a teenager with no spare cash! :D

It means you don't have people ripping the voucher out in shops without buying the newspaper- and normally the masthead and barcode are required for retailers to return unsold copies. Several branches of Tesco had security stand at the newspaper stalls all day to stop people doing just this- I imagine other stores had to take similar precautions. In addition- if the barcode is gone- there is nothing for a cashier to scan if a customer brings it to the checkout.

In short- moving the voucher was a measure to reduce 'shrinkage'........ (aka petty thievery)

Have some people no shame at all ,that they would stoop so low to tear coupons out of newspapers .

I only went and bought the wrong feckin' paper. I got distracted and bought The Sunday Times. There was a free Star Wars poster inside:-). I can't see Aldi taking that:-). Feck it.

:):):) I will have to be more alert in future. By the way. Have any of you ever entered the survey online for the 100 Euro voucher. It only takes a few mins. The girl at the checkout told me about it last week. There is a number on your receipt that you enter online. Would be great to get coming up to xmas. Or at any time actually.

Thanks for letting me know. I normally only spend half that though. I must tell my sister. She would delighted with that. Cheers:)

Father in law went to Aldi today, did his shop and presented Lidl voucher! He never realised it and the cashier was distracted, took it and said nothing!

That's a first and last I'd say, anytime I've used them they take the receipt number and write it on the voucher and have asked me to autograph it too:p

I bought two 15 euro iTunes cards and a bottle of paddy in Galway. I used a lidl voucher. I think it depends on the store/staff member.

The till would not have been short! It would have taken account of the voucher, this topic is where cash, vouchers etc... Have been taken into account and the till is short cash!

In work, We can only be short less than a fiver..... And it is a sacking offence after 3 strike rule! Same in mot retail!

It was not done purposely, FFS seriously!!?

Did my wine shopping in Tesco yesterday with my weekend haul of Aldi and Lidl vouchers. A Heads Up: If you go for Tesco's 6 bottles for €50 offer, watch out for their 5% discount which brings the before-voucher cost down to €49.50 - I had to grab some chewing gum to get back over the €50 threshold.

BTW, anyone want three packets of chewing gum? Can't stand the stuff myself.
