[QUOTE tesco manager had no problem selling me the gift cards either[/QUOTE]

Lucky you, our Tesco put a stop to that. I only copped on to that too late last time round but managed to do it for two weeks so I was delighted.

    Three things

    1: "most" products
2: Customer Services are incredibly thick also
3: The T&Cs are blatantly clear:

"We do not accept spend & save coupons for the purchase of Gift cards "

    http://www.tesco.ie/CompetitorCoupons/

Well I used 3 vouchers the other day bought two gift cards and then my 3rd voucher on the final spend
€110 worth of shopping in Tesco (booze mainly) and saved €32 so whatever the terms and conditions say it's all crap as it worked for me and I will be going back this week for more

Can someone please give me more info on the tesco gift cards? Can they still be bought? A 50 for €40?

They expressly state that you cannot use competitor coupons for gift cards. Occasionally you may find a till operator who is not fully familiar with coupon redemptions- and get away with it- however, do not assume that you can- as they are expressly excluded from usage of competitor's coupons.

Aha. So people were using competitor coupons to buy the gift cards. I though tesco might have been doing a deal on gift cards. I get it.

Picked up Sunday World (€2.45) this morning - thanks for heads up here that it would carry both vouchers.

Lidl voucher is on Pg 2 and the Aldi voucher on Pg 13.

Note there is no mention of the Aldi voucher on the front page.

Yes you use the aldi or lidl €10 off a €50 spend its not allowed but I've done it at least 20 times with no refusal in various tracks near me, sometimes there is a delay in the money going in the card
Manager served me in Thursday and even said how they are great as they have no expiry on them.
Can then use another voucher while spending the goft card ðŸ‘
As the moderator said its not allowed but hey it works for me

Can you use the two vouchers in the one transaction?

Can you use the two vouchers in the one transaction?

Put €100 worth of goods in trolley.

At check out, ask till operator to stop at €50 ..hand over €40 + voucher.

    Repeat.

    SO, in short, YES

Sunday Indo voucher is on page 3 so no bar code on the other side!

I wonder if gift cards can be purchased in Tesco at the self-service checkouts, or do they require authorisation by a till person?

Sorry if this has been asked before but if I want to use the vouchers in tesco, can I use both in the same €100+ transaction or will I have to split it into 2 €50 loads?

What's the relevance of no barcode on the other side

It means you don't have people ripping the voucher out in shops without buying the newspaper- and normally the masthead and barcode are required for retailers to return unsold copies. Several branches of Tesco had security stand at the newspaper stalls all day to stop people doing just this- I imagine other stores had to take similar precautions. In addition- if the barcode is gone- there is nothing for a cashier to scan if a customer brings it to the checkout.

In short- moving the voucher was a measure to reduce 'shrinkage'........ (aka petty thievery)

Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find the answer.

How long do we have before the €10 vouchers expire?

Also, will the vouchers be in the papers every week, or how often is it usually?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,417 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

Expire next weekend, sunday close of business, and last of the vouchers, usually 20 off 100 spend will be this sunday if the form stays good.

    Sun 13th to Sun 20th.

Would expect more vouchers next weekend. Aldi one may even be €20 off €100 spend.

The vouchers published on Saturdays- expire the following Saturday, those published on Sunday's expire the following Sunday. Its not unusual for their to be Aldi and Lidl vouchers out there with both Saturday and Sunday expiry dates (e.g. if you got a Lidl voucher in the Sat Star, and another in the Sunday Indo- they will have different expiry dates).

Tesco are being Nazis with expiry dates- make sure they are in date.

Sorry folks....I know this isn't the right forum but just can't find a suitable location.
Quick question......does anyone know if Tescos accepts Dunnes Stores rewards club vouchers in part payment?
    Thanks!

No, just the 'save €x off a €x shop' kind

Yep and this means you can ask the retailer if they will give you the coupon from page 13 when they are returning them as it makes no difference to the retailer as it's no code page.
Always easier to ask a smaller retailer.
Retailer gets refunded for unsold papers.
