Dipping headlights, changing gears and turning on wipers?? Pffft! That's the work of peasants :P

You forgot to add using indicators to that list :pac:

Forgot about that!! Although I'm one of few who actually DO use indicators :D

Sounds like dangerous driving, absolutely mindless, you (and the other moron) could cause an accident with that attitude and behaviour.

    Are you serious?

I give up on this place...

    ...

100%, too drivers with vision impaired due to headlights, madness. There is good reason headlights are not permitted in lit areas. Have a read of the R of the R when you get a chance.

Just realised yesterday that there's no temperature gauge on the Yaris speedo, just speed, mileage, Rev and fuel gauge. Anyone know why?

Average Yaris driver wouldn't know how to use it :pac:

    (I own a Yaris myself)

It has a temperature light though, which turns off when the coolant reaches 60 degrees.

The sisters Liana is the same. Just has a blue light that goes off when the engine warms up and a red light if it overheats. Digital gauge like the yaris too

My Mini Cooper S was the same, could have done with one when the waterpump decided to make a bid for freedom

I think all the R56 Minis are the same, stragne thing to leave out

    Oh the light ya..

So basically you only know when 60.. Then it goes red when it's to hot? Not very reassuring..

Most temperature gauges these days aren't really an active gauge anyway and will show 90 degrees when the reaal temperature is anywhere between 75 and 100, so in that vein a red warning light is probably just as useful as they both only change when you are in serious trouble.

It should have been included in some form..

Ya, water pump needed to be done on the Yaris before as well. Never knew it was the same on the mini's...

    It sure is..

My Punto doesn't have temp gauge either. Doesn't even have a tacho.

You'd think they'd put a temp gauge on a punto though.

Mine decided to piss itself while driving to my local Mini garage for an MoT and service. This was about 2 years ago and it took them 6 weeks to get it into stock despite being a BMW/MINI corporate owned facility. 1-series diesel offered as courtesy car.

Did the R56 have something similar to the twin dials package the R53 had? I know if you opted for that in the R53 the speedo was moved to a separate clock beside the rev counter above the wheel and the central dial was replaced with a number of smaller ones for stuff like temperature, fuel level etc.

No that was part of the chrono pack on the R53, they removed that option for the r56 and made the nav screen with MINI connected (basically idrive) an option, that took up the main space inside the big speedo. There was a small speed needle that goes around the outside.

There was no temp gauge available from factory, but you could find the temp by entering some sort of nuclear launch code in using the single button interface to get into the normally hidden menus :D
There is a nice after market kit with temp and boost which goes either side of the tacho which looks nice!

Mine cracked off the block on a dual carriageway, steam pouring out of it and lights flashing all over the dash :O My mechanic had it back on the road in a few days though! turns out who ever replaced it lost the gasket so decided to glue the water pump back on with what looked like gripfill and then put 2 out of 3 bolts back in! You never know a cars history when you buy it unfortunately!

On a somewhat related note. One of the few things the Americans do better than the Europeans/Irish(?) is the automatic fuel fillers. I don't recall seeing them in Ireland or Europe...

You simply put the neck in, click it and lock it in place and let the car be filled with fuel.

Such a small thing but you only notice how handy it is when you have to use a Manual pump!

Anyone on here have a set of 16" Fiesta Steel II 12 Spoke Alloys (2006-2008) or a set of Twin 5-Spoke 16" from a 2008-2011 Fiesta.

Sick of looking at DoneDeal, Adverts and ringing various breakers!

    :)

Scooby passed nct this morming. First time again. :)

Now I need to put my "proper" exhaust back on, because this standard one is killing me! I can't feel car or speed with it at all!

P.s. Oh yeah, the dude who did nct told me "nice car" before handing me keys. Ah, so that's how women feel when they get a compliment. :D

Just saw an article there where mitsubishi are stopping production of the pajero to concentrate on smaller motors.

I wedge my fuel cap between the nozzle and the guard, works a charm.

Called about a Ford Focus, arranged to have a look at it right before I left, drove 50 km to get there just to find out they sold it.

I always carry one of these:

There have been many threads about this and the people who are opposed (and I mean seriously, vehemently, radically opposed) to automatic fuel pumps will fly into a foam speckled fury at the mention of these. I was told I would be kicked off the forecourt if I was caught using this. Strangely it has never happened in 20 years. :P

I can think of easier and less permanent solutions than riveting the pump open. :p
