No idea. All depends what pops up on DoneDeal. Could be a Polo, Arosa, Focus or even a Micra. :pac:

Ehh.. standard pre-facelift K11 would be alright, but that? No thanks.

    I'd love this.
This particular one is actually imported from Malta and has 1.8 Toyota diesel engine fitted in it.

Jesus, is the rust repair gonna be serious money? €150? You'd struggle to buy a computer chair for that! A giveaway price!

Other than the rust is it driving okay? I know a chap that has a car that he uses on private ground (ie; he wouldn't care about rust, cos he wouldnt need an NCT), and I think he was saying the clutch is going in his yoke, so he was considering buying something cheap and cheerful to replace it with. Might send him a text.

Yeah, probably would cost a bit since both door sills, floor panels including boot floor have to be repaired. Engine is perfect, never skipped a beat while under my ownership. No issues with gearbox either. Drives fine. Little blow in the exhaust and some small things like bushings were needed for NCT. Nothing serious apart from the rust.

I'd appreciate it if you'd let him know.

Well so long as the rust isn't so bad that he has to stop it like Fred Flintstone..

    :P

I'll see him later on this evening, I'd say, and I'll say it to him. He might have already replaced the other car (haven't seen him in a short while) but I don't think he has. Either way, whether he wants it or not, I'll PM you tonight and let you know (obviously if someone else offers to buy it in the mean time, sell it. Don't be one of those idiots that loses out on a sale cos someone else is dilly-dallying around!) :)

When I saw the fail sheet, I did think of Flinstones. :pac:

Don't worry though, you're not going to put your feet through it. :D

    Thanks.

Them feels when after two days driving a rattly transit connect with no radio and a slipping clutch when you pick up your V8 wagoon :)

So your saying there's a noticeable difference between the two :pac:

I think them transit connects are the most horrible small van on the roads especially the earlier ones the caddys are far superior nicer to drive and more comfortable.

Newer connects really hammer the caddy's though, for one, They're not getting pulled from the market over their engines :pac:

The newest transit doesn't seem to be the most reliable either though I've heard a few different wierd issues people had with them at low mileage I know someone that had to get a replacement one engine completely shat itself ruined not his fault either. There was thread on here about one cutting out or making wierd noises too.

The recall won't make any difference once you don't get it done. If you don't bring it to a vw garage they can't do it. I mean the engines are still meeting euro 3 standards so not dangerous or anything just not as good as they said they were.

I actually quite like them Transit Connects. Friend has one a 2005 model 1.8TDCi with 260k km and it runs like a clock. Drivers seat is very comfortable and it drivers very car like I think. Interior is a bit basic but most vans are.

Is the Caddy really that superior or is that just your VAG fetish kicking in again? :D

Based on the 2006 transit connects and caddys we had at work well in one of my previous summer jobs the caddys were far nicer on longer trips quieter and more comfortable. I mean the transit connect is just so hardcore van I mean that 1.8tdci is very loud it's just a transit which is the most unrefined van you can buy well newer ones are different but going on 2006 ish ones. However the connect is a good van in terms of reliability in that model they are bullet proof and generally easy to fix when they do go wrong.

Bloody delighted this evening, gearbox isn't failing as I thought it was. I've finally had the issue diagnosed properly and it's something I never even knew about. 2nd gear grinding noise was traced to a sticking handbrake cable keeping the rear calipers ever so slightly on and my nasty sound in 5th and 6th has been traced to "castling" of the rear tyres. Happy out.

Would love to go as well.

I chipped of 2 of these places this past week. Already done one a while back. It's starting to get a bit grubby now, I wonder if these units are available to pick up handy enough.
