Nenagh were short half a dozen starters yesterday due to a dispute between themselves and Kildangan GAA club.

Saw that in paper - look a win is a win and it puts Colemans into a great position - they will surely beat Doon who havent won any game yet

Question is if Nenagh can regroup and beat Thurles opening group up again? Will teams go through on basis of points difference in that instqnce?

Myself i think its very harsh those lads were pulled from that game - doesn't look like Templemore were short any players for their game.

You only play Harty for a year or two with your pals from school and its a prestigious competition - i think those lads will have regrets in years to come
    Hard line from Kildangan

My apologies n20 regards Barry being eligible for minor. I agree with the rest your post.
No connections at all with charville in any way just huge interest in cork under age hurling irrespective of the school etc
I don't mind who wins but probably just go rochestown in experience last year and fully fit Kingston probably have slightly better chance in the harty.

Great result for CBC given their first year in Harty - Castletroy will be a tougher game than Flannans ( in transition ) and Clonmel ( focusing on football) - in fairness both Clonmel and Flannans dual schools along with Rochestown which is a huge ask

Either way CBC will qualify for knockout stages so fair play

Guiney and Geary will be Charleville's Cork Minors in 2016.

The half back line will be very competitive so geary may or may not make it but definitely in contention I would hope.
Imo leary Ronan Harrington, Kevin Murphy, maloney, Mcdonnell maybes, and other lads will make it very competitive that half back line and Sean o leary Hayes could even be half back depending where cork decide to play him.

How did cork schools get on in the Harty Cup this afternoon?

Great to see Midleton get their campaign back on track but a shame at the expense of Hamilton. Hopefully Hammies will continue to aspire to Harty although nobody like to see schools team being well beaten. I think unfortunately Youghal and Hammies will come out on wrong end of a few games this year.

DLS V Midleton will be another big game to decide that group.

Intersting to see Brendan Buglers comments on school teams - his view being you should play within your county - unless a boarder, or ina border club.

I think he is or was involved with Doon??, so it was interesting to see his comments. Presume the implication was ASR !

Serious amount of dislike for the new Jersey - the collar, or lack of it, is a major turnoff!

We don't like change. If it was a red and white plastic bag it will do. Wear it with pride. I actually think it is class . Hon the Rebels.

Haha speak for yourself I love change but I know a manky jersey when I see one though :) Fully agree that if its worn with pride I won't give a damn!

Don't like the collar design but love it otherwise, the fewer swirls and ****e the better IMO.

Fantastic to see Ian Maguire play for UCC last night and score a goal ...hopefully he will stay injury free ...best of luck to him.

    You sure about that?
Examiner says C. Maguire and don't list C Maguire as a scorer at all?
    Just asking...........like?

yes unfortunately judging by results it does seem like hamilton and youghal are going to be on the wrong side of a few hidings this year. imo in order for both these schools to compete annualy they need to start attracting more big name players like midleton and ard scoil do etc.. anything to be said for some sort of campaign to be set up in both schools in order to attract all these big name players to the above mentioned schools? it would be a great advantage to cork underage if they did get these two schools competing year in year out at this level

I have no idea how you suggest they 'attract' more players, besides poaching and handing our scholarships, the former heavily frowned upon and the latter extremely unlikely outside of fee paying schools.

They both draw from a small amount of mainly junior/inter clubs, they aren't going to be competitive year in year out. That is the reality of it. If both schools can put out decent teams most years in the B competition then they'll be doing very well.

Some of those Charleville lads 3rd yr Harty and well able to hurl ! Do you mean O Loughlin from Kilmallock as opposed to O Rourke? certainly an experienced player himself and Jack Barry leading the charge for them. Jack Barry was on dev squads for a good number if years but lost out and didnt make minor panel this year - def overage for this year. i think its Jones from Newtown out with cruciate this year and a big loss to Charleville. A few of Newtowns u/16 payers this year won out the county at u/14 if im not mistaken so certainly the talent is there - not sure of individuals but Guiney and Griffin mentioned by himself.

They will play with heart and determination and given rochestowns poor result with Templemore Charleville will push them all the way. Rochestown really had two very soft games against AG and Youghal and Templemore their first test.

Thanks for that. Yeah obviously I was referring to O'Loughlin.
And thanks for your accurate, concise and well constructed reply. In a busy world I only have a very limited amount of time to dip in and out of boards (what with doing a days work and generally making a contribution to society) so it's nice to get the info requested without reams of repetition, inaccuracies, misspellings, nonexistent punctuation and general off topic ramblings.
I take it from your reply that Darragh Fitzgibbon isn't playing Harty with Charleville this year (some ill-informed was trying to tell me he was) but it sounds like they could push Rochestown. I still fancy Roco in this one and as I said previously I expect Harty winners 2016 to come from ASR/ Templemore/Roco and maybe Midleton if they get their house in order.

Went for a look at Newcestown today. After a good start they really lost their way. Tried to play a game that wasn't suited to the conditions or time of year.
Too much short passing and over carrying of ball. Also their touch was way off, really looked like the occasion got to them. 2 goals late on but would have been complete robbery if they'd got a result out of the game.

Wolfe tones are a strong outfit and it will take a good side to beat them

Newcestown were poor. Too lightweight from midfield up. Luke Meade needs to live in the gym if he wants to progress at intercounty. Ref was a dosedont have a clue what rule book he was using.

    Did horgan play?

    Did horgan play?

Horgan was probably the only player who could be happy enough with his performance from the West Cork team's point of view. Seemed their only outlet for winning ball from the puckouts, won a load of frees and got the two goals at the end. They were almost entirely dependent on him though as Meade was marked very well and conditions didn't play into his style of hurling. I would agree he needs to bulk up alright, as long as it doesn't affect his speed and reflexes which are second to none. It was clear Newcestown were hurt bad from the suspension and injuries. Always fighting an uphill battle.

From a Wolfe Tones point of view their full forward Aron Shanagher is a frightening talent. Was minor for Clare last year. Big, strong, very skillful and has a fair bit of pace for a man of his size. Very solid free taker too. Whatever about Aaron Cunningham being on the Clare Senior panel I'd nearly have this lad starting in a year or so. Phenomenal.

    Not overly convinced on O'Sullivan.

He's had a few chances at this stage, think there are question marks about his temperament. Also while he gives a good honest effort think he's lacking a little in the finer skills needed at inter county

But I'd be delighted if he proves me wrong

He could make a good, hardworking wing forward because I don't think he's at IC standard for midfield. Issue there is his shooting isn't IC standard either imo.

He's a strong runner on the ball and would be an option from kickouts though so he's an option for the half forward line I think. Will be interesting to see how he gets on if used there.

CBC win the Munster U16/5 b hurling championship.
Tommy O'Connell from Midleton the main man.
