So sorry to hear that Conor :(

Can't believe I've woken up at this time! If I needed to, do you think I'd be able? Not going to miss this waking up hungry lark, going to get something to eat and back to bed for me. Flip it.

I've been the same since the training started too. It's irritating.

Looking forward to my very lazy day, apart from those 2 miles.

Conor, so sorry to hear your news. Keep us posted. Tell your wife she and her father are in our thoughts.

Toulouse, I hear ya. First Sunday in months I'm not running but what do I do? Wake up at the usual time wanting porridge. Ugh.

Me too. GP, Rugby and most of the day on the couch in my jammies, yay :D

Okay, this is gonna be a tough post. Earlier this week, my father-in-law was admitted to hospital and his condition has since deteriorated. So even though I've won half the battle by arriving at the metaphorical start line in one piece, there's a good chance I won't be able to actually toe the line on Monday morning. Any disappointment on my part would pale into insignificance against my wife's devastation should she lose her father in the coming days. So for now, we're just waiting to see how things go over the next 24 hours.

So sorry to hear all that Conor, that is a horrible thing for your wife and you and her family to have to go through. Wishing you all the best that you can make the race, really hoping things can improve for the poor man. 24 hours is a long time in medicine so you never know how things can play out.

Sorry to hear that Conor. Was in your situation a couple of years ago with my own Dad - had to cancel plans - Didn't care - being there is the most important thing. Thoughts are with your wife and family - best of luck... There's always next year..

So to my fellow novices, go out there and enjoy the day and be safe. A massive thanks to DG and the wise elders.... you've done such an amazing job and I'd just reiterate what has previously been said... this crew of novices have been so lucky to have had your advice, guidance, motivation, counselling, your patience, your wisdom, but mostly, so much of your valuable time! It's greatly, greatly appreciated!!!

Sorry to hear this Conor, hope your father in law improves and all is well.

Sorry to hear that Conor. I am in the same boat myself the father in law was admitted to hospital on Thursday and has deteriorated very quickly over the last 24hrs or so. It will be a last minute decision whether to do the race now but there are more important things.

Best of luck to everyone tomorrow. It is going to be EPIC

Really sorry to hear that Conor & Alan, hopefully the next few days go as comfortably as possible for both of you and your families. Coming so close and for "life to get in the way" it must be terrible, but look you both put in the training, stuck to a plan and were well prepared, that in itself is a massive achievement.

Sorry to hear about your father in law Conor. I hope everything goes well and that he improves. I'll be thinking of you and your family

Conor mc and Alan so sorry to hear that our thoughts with you and your families.

My thoughts are with you Conor mc and Alan, hope all is ok with your family as Gillo rightly says 'real life' sometimes gets in the way.

I hope that you both get to start line if at all possible as you no doubt have put a lot in to the training, if not then there will be other races and good days out still to come.....best of luck, please God that your luck changes for the better today and tomorrow.

    Steve

Very sorry to hear that Alan and Conor. Hopefully they both recover. It's only a race, family comes first. I'm sure all your training would stand to you for any other race.

That is hilarious. I made it my mission to say "marathon" as many times as possible last week in work :):)

I've yet to post it on FB tho.... Maybe tomorrow afternoon!

Just back in from my last run, 2.5M with some very gentle strides. Bring it on!

Let me know if you want some company!

I've just packed my bag and belt. Think I've got everything! Have never had so many gels in the belt so it looks like a spare tyre around me :)

Conor and Alan, you're both in my thoughts. Putting things thoroughly into perspective.
