The expo was nice enough, good atmosphere and met up with a few (at this stage) familiar faces from these parts and ran into a few other folks I know who happened to be there. Didn't go too crazy buying stuff - I was in the market for a new pair of gloves and picked up some nice Ronhill ones, but gave in a little and bought an official DCM t-shirt for one of the kids.

Now the waiting game begins :)

Those of you finished at the expo...time to put your feet up, read a book or watch a film. Milk it, this is the last weekend you can do your spousal 'but I'm running a marathon sweetie.....' :D

    I've lost a sock.

Seriously. I have lost one of the socks I planned to run the marathon in.

    This is not good!

Will keep looking and post updates as things happen.

    :pac::p:D;)

    Found my sock!

It was in my sock drawer!

Did the expo this morning. Was there around 12. Not overly busy and just breezed through the race number collection. Bit of a queue for the Asic's pace band and then had a bit of a wander around. Bought some High 5 gels as I only have the one now.

One question though on fueling. I didn't use any food on any of the runs. Just used the gels on 2 runs to suss them out. Loads of energy snacks and bars every at the expo today. Should I have thought about food during the race or should I just stick with gels?

Stick. With. Gels. Do. Not. Try. Anything. New. On. Race. Day.

Yes, long sleeves/arm warmers if out for longer than 4 hours is not a bad idea when temps are cool. Don't forget though, temps will rise as the morning progresses.

Of course you will gave tried your choice in a lsr ;)

Honestly no :o! I know not to try anything new during a race but I don't know, maybe I got a bit panicked when I saw the amount of snacks and bars that they were hawking at the expo. I started to think maybe I should have been using them like that during the race or else I'd be very under fueled.

Stick with what I've been doing is obviously the mantra for the race day!

Yeah I am still debating what to wear but have a good idea considering the weather forecast. I could never understand how people could get their top printed so long before the race considering the weather may not be suitable to wear said top on the day.

Are the numbers determined by the time you registered?

Speed relevant to everyone else really has very little effect on how warm you get. I wouldn't go with the long sleeves anyway as you'll be stuck wearing for the whole race and you will heat up pretty quickly. The arm-warmers would be a better option if you are willing to toss them during the race if you need to.

I usually wear a throwaway top to the start and fire it away just before the gun goes off. It's better to be too cold for the first 3 miles than too hot for the last 10. If the forecasts are to believed, 9-12 degrees isn't really that cold for running once you get into your stride.

This. I'm wearing a vest top. Am always freezing in it starting out but grand after a mile or so. Have been wearing it on longer runs so am reluctant to wear a top with sleeves on Monday as don't want to be too warm half way in. Have a hoodie bought from Penneys to dump at the start line.

Ah they'd some amount of stuff on offer today for tasting! You could easily get distracted and think you need it all. I turned around and my kids had a whole handful of jelly shot thingys shoved in their gobs!
