Really heavy few days at work :( Been too busy and distracted to log on to boards.ie but hope everyone is hanging in there and looking forward to monday. Was at the expo at 10am this morning and was in and out in 15 mins. So quickly in fact that I forgot to pick up my pace band! Going to take some time today to have a look back at a few days of posts. Am sure that won't take long.....

Played a blinder this morning. I entered the entrance where the stall workers and RDS staff were using.
Got in at 9:40 and was finished by 10:05.
At least I'm in first place for numbers issued, everything else is irrelevant :D

Pretty poor bag.. Ah well not what its about I guess..

I got a powerbank. My phone as about to die. It saved me having to try to locate and use (*shudder*) a pay phone. Win from me. Compare to the Limerick bag, it was amazing.

OK, target time column added, and copied in from the other thread whatever times I could find. Also added PJD's details as posted before.

Anywhere Italian should be good. Stick to the tomato-based sauces. Don't try anything spicy, might have you running to the leithreas too often in the morning!

Same here - thought the power bank was a good addition. Wasn't expecting much.

I have an issue. On my last LSR my right foot blistered. No big deal, blister went away in a few days. However, since that LSR on one or two of my short taper runs I have noticed the skin where the blister occurred being a bit tender. I am now worried that come mile 16 on Monday I could be in trouble. A mate of mine advised to put some Vaseline on my feet before the race but I have not done this before and all advice says not to try anything unfamiliar on Marathon Day. Looking for any opinions on what to do please?

In and out of the expo in less then 10 minutes and straight to Roly's :D

Really looking forward to it now. I'd say my family and friends are sort of sick of hearing me say, 'oh sorry, I can't do that, I'm doing a marathon on Monday.' I even convinced husband to change the last few nappies because I'm doing a marathon :pac:

I swear by vaseline on the feet, in between the toes especially. Just a thin coat before you put your socks on. I can't think of any negatives here really. Its not like new clothes or gels you haven't tried before. I think it might be a case of the benefits outweighing the risks. To be honest I don't notice it's on, but I've never had a blister with it on.

Updated the table there on the phone so hope not to have ballsed it up!
Was in and out of the expo in about 45mins, only 5 mins if even needed for number collection. Was there just around 11:15. Picked up a few extra gels, gel belt and beanie hat, one lap to have a gawk and then gone. Like the powerbank in the bag, very useful!

I wouldn't have thought Vaseline was too risky, a small layer should be fine, try it tomorrow or this afternoon just to get used to the feel of it before Monday.
Compeed is the dog's dangly bits for blisters but can be a little think and may change the fit of your runners slightly. I'd say buy some and stick it in the bag for post race that way it won't have any effect your running.

    I've lost a sock.

Seriously. I have lost one of the socks I planned to run the marathon in.

    This is not good!

Will keep looking and post updates as things happen.

    :pac::p:D;)

So either I had a brain fart during the week or a spot of amazing confidence but I registered for that timing band at 4:15 not 4:30!

It'll still be handy to mark in water stations, hills, toilets etc or I may just be about to have the performance of my life....

    Good morning all.

The last few weeks have flown by and it's Expo day today......can you believe it??

Going with my friend at around 12 noon today to get our race numbers and sign the wall at the expo. It is his first DCM and he is hyper about it and is really looking forward to it too....

Having porridge and Nurofen, a winning combination, for breakfast to try and shake this damn knee niggle.... I think that I am slowly winning the race to be ready.... Did a fair bit of Foam Rollering last night that seemed to help, thanks DG and Mentors. ;)

On the spreadsheet put me down for 4:00, no wait......4:15........em......em..... I mean 4:30......right then 4:09 'Final Answer' and Asics Cumulus 15........really bright orange and black ones with yellow on them that can be seen from space :)...hope that all fits on the spreadsheet...Thanks

Good to meet you today smashiner best of luck Monday :)

Just home from the expo. Had a great morning at park run today chatting with other novices there and getting hugs of support from my LSR support crew. Headed to expo where FBOT pointed out the countdown clock to me and said "look that's in hours not days" stomach fell to my feet and got so nervous. Very exciting at expo met Whoopsa smashiner KennyG and Singer sorry to have just missed TFGR and Toulouse who had just left. Treated myself to a dublin marsthon jacket for post run of course..... I'm worth it. Great buzz there. Big queue at pace bands but managed to pass my friend as she was giving in her details and passed mine in too very bold I know .... Had to rest the legs no standing around. Feet up for the rest of the weekend.

Gillo got it right. Also, you don't want to wear competed during the race because the thickness can cause minor alterations to your gait.
