Might try this sometime, can I ask though, what is 1/4 baking soda? Table spoon?

No, quarter of a packet. It'll turn out great ... trust me! ;)

It's a recipe I picked up from yvonneskitchenfamily Instagram. Originally recipe calls for sweet potato but any squash or pumpkin will do.

Roast sweet potato (whole, at 200℃ until soft. Small ones only take 30 mins; longer for larger ones), weight out 200g once cooled and mashed.
    Mix in:
    110g buckwheat flour
    180g mixed seeds
    2 tbsp flaxseed
4 tbsp arrowroot flour (if you don't have this just replace with more buckwheat flour; previously I've replaced it with cornflour and it turned out ok too)
    1/4 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    Juice of a lemon

Mix everything by hand, shape into a loaf and throw onto a floured baking sheet. Bake for 40 minutes at 180℃.
    Thanks. Sounds good.

Baked egg in avocado... Won't bother with that again! Had to scoop so much of the avocado out to fit in the egg that I basically had avocado followed by an egg with a tiny bit of hot avocado (which it turns out I don't like!)

I attempted overnight oats and it was a bit of a disaster. I couldn't find chia seeds in Tesco so I thought I could make do without. It was basically oats, almond milk, cinnamon, honey and some raspberries left overnight in the fridge and warmed in the microwave this morning.

The texture was horribly sloppy to the point of stomach churning. Not ideal at 7am! Any suggestions to give it a bit more bite?

What oats are you using? Maybe try using jumbo oats. Also, the longer you soak the oats the more sloppy it is, I think. Try and minimise the amount of time you are soaking them. That may defeat the purpose of overnight oats though. :P

Just the normal Flahavans porridge oats, which I generally don't bother to steep overnight. I'll keep experimenting for the meantime, anyway! The whole point was to save time in the morning but I ended up grabbing toast when I got to work :pac:

    Dried cranberries and mixed seeds?

I had the exact same experience when I tried to make it last year

Ilyana I use Greek yoghurt with just a tiny amount of milk to loosen it up a bit

    Confusion
I thought soaking oats overnight in yogurt etc was in order to eat them cold, and soaking them only in milk or water was for cooking?

Don't warm it in the microwave.
    Use jumbo oats.

I really have no idea to be honest, I was just going by a recipe I found online somewhere. Perhaps that was where I went wrong!

Thanks for the tips everyone, I'll give them another go soon :)

Oh I missed the bit about the microwave - I usually eat them cold

Baked oats, quinoa, banana, blueberries and raspberries in milk and eggs with some cinnamon and syrup for a bit of sweetness. Had a few spare strawberries I put beside it, looks a bit messy because I only had a bread tin to make it in but it's SO good warm or cold! Apparently it's extremely healthy too.

Blueberries cost a bluh-dee fortune in Toronto, but the rest is actually pretty cheap given you only need a tablespoon of Greek yoghurt per serving. Recipe here.

Porridge, dried mango, walnuts & Greek yoghurt.

Tried overnight oats a while ago and accidentally added something that made them slimy. Can't remember what the slime ingredient was, shoulda made a note!

Where do you find the time and energy in the morning for these things?!

Porridge sweetened with a heaped teaspoon of currants and a large mug of milky coffee sweetened with a teaspoon of molasses, like every other day this week.

I love Saturday breakfasts. I have porridge every other day so Saturday is a treat sort of breakfast. This morning was roasted cherry tomatoes, half an avocado mashed, 2 poached eggs and 2 smoked turkey rashers.

I'm standing at the side of a pitch in wet grass wearing tiny pumps watching my nephews soccer match so treated myself to an avoca coffee and cookie the same size of my face. It was so big that boards wouldn't let me post a pic cause the file was too large :D

Sausages, rashers, fried egg, baked beans, mushrooms, hash browns and a toasted bagel, and some hot coffee. Wonderful.

Toasted soda bread topped with mashed avocado and a soft fried egg. Lots of black pepper and strongly brewed tea by the litre.

Toast and a load of mini crunchies. I knew buying a bag of chocolate 'for work, on Monday' was a poor idea

Very underwhelming bowl of cereal, then half of the babies egg-in-a-cup.
AND NO COFFEE coz some stupid plonker put beans into the trolley instead of ground coffee and we have no grinder. Pestle and mortar just isn't cutting grinding it.

    Face cookie, the best kind.
