Volkswagen's chief executive apologised after the scandal emerged.

"I personally am deeply sorry that we have broken the trust of our customers and the public," Martin Winterkorn said.

He has launched an investigation into the software that allowed VW cars to emit less during tests than they would while driving normally.

    Hahahaha, he's fooling nobody...

Try telling that to an insurance company when looking for a quote!

Is my insurance the only policy in the country where the owner actually got on well this year? I feel its ok at €530ish, 26 in a 16 year old, 2.5 petrol, "sports car".

It's not all bad news out there then, I thought something must have been done incorrectly at this stage.

That's very good, Yb. I'm paying €1085 for a 1.2 petrol "sports car". :pac:

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 23,315 ✭✭✭✭beertons

It was the first year they didn't tell me what value my car was. They took my word for it.

They tried to tell me my car was worth 10k last year. I nearly dropped the phone laughing.

I can't say I've ever heard of an insurance company that tells you how much the car is worth I always just tell them how much I want to put down and that's it they never debate it with me.

I didn't do too bad on insurance this year about the same as GvidoR fully comp with breakdown assist.

Anyone ever use any of these aircon cleaners are they any good. I notice when I first switch on the a/c it often doesn't smell the best probably from the car sitting up before I bought it. There seems to be two types one which you leave spraying in the passenger seat with fans running on recirc mode for a while. Then there is this one (linked below) which has a tube and you spray it into the main vent and allow it to work on the system.

With the rain that just fell there, I'd say the ploughing is going to be a nightmare.

Never had as much craic a few years back one year we went to it. Group of us went, parked in a field, which was a designated car park, which was absolutely destroyed by the time we were going. Driving around in the field with the car covered all over in shyte. Everyone was getting pulled to the gate by tractors and ropes, cars, even 4x4's were sliding everywhere, hadn't a hope of getting out on their own! Mental craic altogether. I'd say the owner of the land wasn't too pleased by the end of it though!

I used one in my car earlier in the year. It smelled a LOT better afterwards. It was the one you set it off and run the aircon on full. It was made by CarPlan.

It was fierce wet down there earlier, saw George Lee on the news talking about it. There'll be some sales on wellies down there. Bring a stick too, or old brush handle, you'll be slippin n slidin all over the shop.

I was delighted with mine, €1256 for a 21 year old on a 13 year old 2.5 Petrol Sport BMW, my brother got his renewal for his Civic and I believe it's about €300 more from the same company!
