FINALLY! Got Laola working tonight on the AFTV with VPN on a dedicated subnet/router.

It is as crisp and HD as the oceans I imagine in my dreams! Pic doesn't do it justice but it is genuinely utterly razor sharp and lovely.

5 lids a month for all that sport, including La Liga.

Laola is definitely my favourite squeeze right now! :)

2 negative points must be raised though. 1) hoping just the exit ip and not the certs need to change. If so that would be a massive pain. 2) not spotted Nick Simons on any of the La Liga commentary yet, which is a shame, definitely my favourite commentator for La Liga. :(

Edit: turns out you DO have to change everything per change of exit. Shame but understandable why from a security viewpoint.

In retrospect the setup is not too bad. With the AFTV I can have Smart DNS on one subnet, via ethernet, that handles 90% of what we consume.

For the 10% of awkward stuff, where VPN is a must, the dedicated router does the job nicely via WiFi without the need to keep reconfiguring everything.

To minimise faff, it'll probably be wise to just create cut and paste txt files for each exit config. 5 On Demand and STV Player are a couple of awkward ones that spring to mind, as well as Laola.

Anyway, straying way off topic, apologies all. Just wanted to pass on the info that such a set up is possible and works great. :)

Do you have a step by step guide for this please?

    Here you go:

    http://support.purevpn.com/how-can-i-configure-openvpn-on-my-dd-wrt-router

NOTE: That's not my VPN provider, but a decent guide which you should be able to adapt for your own needs.

You will need a router capable of having DD-WRT or OpenWRT flashed to it. Or a router with VPN capability built in.

You can do all of that with one device, but you'd be better off adding a dedicated 2nd router and building a subnet just for this kind of work. Throw on a guest SSID too if you want, to keep guests or unknown visitors off of your main network. You're on your own with all of this, but it's not too difficult to work with if you plan your network out in advance.

Hope that all helps anyway. :)
