Scratch that, it DOES work and it is legit. You just need an Indian VPN and DNS to get it to work.

Oh and the video quality is atrocious. :(

Bein is working incredibly well today for the Premiership and for La Liga so far.

Silverlight has been causing me no end of problems but I updated today and picture quality is perfect, no buffering. Still can't force it to stay full screen but I'm using an old computer connected to my Projector instead of using a second screen function and this works fine.

One of the big issues last year was a lack of language options, this seems to be resolved for the most part. One of the 16 channels was French only, earlier today but any German, French, Italian or Spanish league game I've tried so far has had English audio.

I've been finding it hugely difficult to recommend this lately as I find the updated player using silverlight to be fairly shoddy but if the quality stays this good for a while I would have no problem suggesting people get this. 1 day working well in about 3 weeks isn't great but fingers crossed this is resolved now.

I paid €89 euro for the years sub which I think is great value for the Premier league, La Liga, Bundesliga, Seria A, Ligue 1, Boxing, F1, Rugby, American football, NBA and baseball(granted most people won't care about some or most of these but I find it's nice to have the option at times).

The option for watching multiple channels at the same time is still missing which I find disappointing but as Star seems to only have German and English leagues this year, and I have a feeling that not requiring a subscription will end up killing the servers, I'd suggest giving Bein a shot. When it works it's incredible, when it doesn't it's awful.

laola1.tv has the La Liga rights in Austria (and Germany?). SD quality is free (VPN needed I think?). €5 per month for HD and access via iOS and Android.

    Tonio. You are THE man.

Say it Tonio! "I am.... THE man!".

The Latoya Jackson site that looks like a bad rip-off of a Now That's What I Call Music! album is BRILLIANT! My German VPN exit is working pretty good so far. The free HI stream is just as good, if not better, than Star last year. Also it looks like the same streams!

These look like the official La Liga streams that Star used. So it's all in English, features no adverts and has all the fun facts at half time. Plus the commentators dub over the player and manager interviews after the matches, which you DON'T get with Sky. Plus the commentators are very good and enthusiastic, even in really dull encounters between the tiny clubs or dead rubber matches screened at 10 or 11 at night on a Sunday. Nick Simons is one of my favourites, a great commentator.

Brilliant stuff sir, well played. Going to sub anyway for the HD streams. Hopefully that's my season sorted. Thanks so much! :)

    LEGEND. :)

EDIT: Going to sub for that Latoya Jackson site in time for the Las Palmas match at 8:30pm. Hoping the HD streams look top notch. You made my weekend sir, I was almost going back to Bein there. Even Bein don't use these feeds to show all of the content they give. Delighted!

Quick update on Latoya Jackson Sports 1. I've now got a premium sub and had a quick dig around. Just a couple of bullet points really in case folks are thinking about checking it out and are unsure about subscribing.

The list is just stuff I found so far and is a mix of pro's and cons. Make of it what you will. Anyway, at €4.99 a month it is utterly worth a sub for the sheer volume of content alone.

    • Site is in German, Russian or English. Select your language in the menu.
    • You must use a VPN to access content and subscribe.
    • You may need to change DNS too, I do by default so can't confirm if DNS is locked down or not.
    • La Liga content is the same as Sky and Star. Official La Liga streams. However unlike Star, Latoya Jackson cuts off at full time (at least in the one game I've seen so far).
    • La Liga commentary is in English and German. You cannot select audio channels.
    • Some live streams offer a premium HD stream (included in your sub). These require an additional player to be downloaded to your computer. I can't see anything of note yet in using it.
    • The HD channels are.... EXCELLENT. Bit rate is SUPERB in the content I've seen so far at least.
    • The free streams have annoying pop up ad's that take up half your screen which you have to close manually. These are embedded in the player window so a blocked won't help you here. Cough up the €4.99, it's worth it for getting rid of ads alone.
    • The wealth of content available is mindboggling. Aside from live streams, the vault of replays, highlights and stats is overwhelming. Lots to see and do, and all in English.
    • The region lockout can be annoying at times. I had to clear browser cache a couple of times in order to get things going again. Maybe that's just an individual case.
    • Make sure to sign up with a German address. You can use your normal payment info for the sub, but setting your address to Ireland appears to lock you out of some streams. This may need changing regularly in order to view content, I am not sure yet.
    • They show live handball. IN HD. Enough said.
    • They show live womens beach volleyball. IN HD. Enough said.
    • Your VPN needs to be up to the job, especially for the HD stuff. Even still, some streams chop occasionally, at least for me. But it's not the end of the world.
    • You can't start the stream then knock off the VPN. You'll get booted out.
    • Knock off the VPN, get booted out, it mangles your session so you may not be able to log back in for a while until your previous session expires.
    • I've not tried the Android app yet, so cannot comment on how that works.
    • Latoya Jackson Sports shows Copa Del Rey matches. ALL OF THEM. Which is something Star didn't do.
    • Bundesliga, Super Lig (and their cup competitions) are available.
    • FIFA World Cup and Austrian league fottball is available, in full, too.
    • DEL, KHL, EBEL, Austrian National, and most importantly, CHL are all available on Latoya Jackson Sports.
That's it for now. It's a shame the La Liga feeds are a mix of English and German, depending on the game you are watching, but to be honest, the volume of content for €4.99 is well worth it. Especially as Bein charges nearly 3 times as much for a crap Silverlight player, DRM, blackouts, no HDMI out or mirroring output and commentary in Arabic.

My personal combination as of now, is PLP and Latoya Jackson Sports. Hope the above is of use to anyone considering signing up anyway. And hey, if you don't want the German audio, find a radio stream. Radio Barca broadcast in English. Other clubs may do too? :)

Mass confusion between La Liga and EPL

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,214 ✭✭✭STG.Otaku

Latoya Jackson 1 has been excellent so far. The need for a VPN makes it a little frumpy for the full HD channels on the odd occasion, but on the whole it's been grand.

In my personal experience so far, after a weekend of using it for La Liga, I've found the Android app to be a bit more friendly than the web browser experience, which can seem a bit slow to navigate. Video is fine, but the app just seems to be a more fluid experience.

There is a Fire TV app for it, but it's geoblocked and I can't get the apk to side load either for some reason. Might be a case of transferring the device to Amazon.de, same steps as for installing Hulu. Though you've then got the problem of lack of VPN ability so would probably need to go in at the router level (lack of root on 'post X' version AFTV firmware). :(

Really impressed so far though, a lot of bang for your €4.99. :)

EDIT: You can get the Fire TV app on Amazon UK. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product?ASIN=B00P7ZXO2O Now it's just a case of sorting the VPN issue out.

I think calling it Latoya Jackson will only cause confusion down the line for anybody wondering what service you are on about.

Added it to my Fire TV, but cannot see any football?

Do I need to set up a premium account?

It won't work with any DNS service. You need a VPN for it. Well, not all of it, La Liga is for DE, AT the rest (Bundesliga etc) are worldwide.

I think for the Fire TV app you need to login at least. I have a premium account so login anyway to get the HD streams.

Football aside their table tennis and tennis coverage has been excellent the last few days. HD streams really are crisp HD. I asked the DNS crowd I use about getting it working. They've said it's on their to do list. We'll see. VPN router, rooted Fire TV or shared network connection etc is the best solution for now alas...

Star Sports has bought the rights for the Bundesliga and the Premier League for India and streams them for free on the net. However, these are geoblocked outside India.
They can be legally viewed through the browser but also via Android or iOS device.
    http://www.starsports.com/football/index.html

    Cheaper than €4.99 a month.

You may find a decent free VPN, but dns4me works flawlessly, and is only €2 per month. Commentary is in English.

There is a slight delay (up to 5 minutes), but I find the quality decent, and it's free. VPN is €2 pm, but many already have one.
