There is a pirated one which hacks their Premier League streams but I don't believe they have/had one (I'm probably wrong though).

Star Sports users might be suffering until March 6th:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEA-ME-WE_4#4_Feburary_2015_fault

Bein seemed fine for Barcelona vs Villareal tonight. Had that on with Radio Barca overlaid on top of it for English audio.

Interesting. It appears Star Sports has gone the way of Bein Sports. They've updated their player and adopted that whole variable bitrate nonsense that Bein uses. Also, like Bein, you can't just use a DNS service now, you HAVE to use an Indian VPN in tandem (meaning no shutting off the VPN to max out the bitrate either).

Only difference at the moment is Bein in the browser still doesn't require a VPN in tandem, only the app appears to do so. These streaming products appear to be becoming more and more crippled to the point of being utter garbage.

A shame really for legitimate, paying subscribers who just want to watch a bit of footy without being ripped off. :(

EDIT: The Android player is updated too now and no longer works. :(

unfortunately they will loose customers, which means loosing income....in the other hand those customers will look for other alternatives and will most likely go for a cheaper option that will allow them to watch the same channels......most likely these options are illegal I am afraid and as such the money will go to a person who spends his entire day behind his computer offering illegal services in exchange for a couple of euros to buy him few pints in his locals.....such is the world in which we live.

I reported it to the DNS service i use who have now added a note on their website stating the problems with the new player and that they are working to fix it. Maybe other users reported it but the first emails i got from them they knew nothing about it.

They must have upgraded everything the last 24 or 48 hours as La Liga coverage worked earlier in the week. EPL too. Oddly once i got the VPN working tonight the Almeria vs Real Sociedad match was rock solid, bitrate was at maximum for 99% of the duration of the broadcast.

Hopefully that continues! Maybe the new measures might improve their EPL streams?

Shame beIn didn't pick up any premier league rights for the UK. There coverage and guests in studio is always top notch!

Who got the rights in the Middle East?

International rights wont be sorted for a year yet.

I think a lot of the providers have bits of coverage that would be great chucked together to form all the best elements (in my opinion) in one sports network.

Bein has excellent EPL coverage. Keys and Gray are good value too. The score flashes showing goals from other matches as they go in is good but can sometimes be a bit distracting.

Sky Sports News is good for La Liga. Big fan of Graham Hunter (especially after meeting him at his talk/book signing in Dublin a couple of years ago), a very sound and knowledgeable chap. Guillem is ok too but he's an Espanyol fan so gets docked points for that. :D I like Scott Minto too but preferred the other bloke who used to present it before him.

Star Sports (so long as the streams behave themselves which seems like pot luck for a lot of posters here alas) is my favourite for La Liga and Serie A. Their La Liga coverage is unbeatable. Why? Because they show the direct feed, with English commentary and they show post match player interviews and translate them live.

Talented bilingual commentators like Nick Simons for example. Same chaps who commentate on Radio Barca too.

BBC is great for FA Cup matches and the FA Cup final. Always has been a big occasion at home. Good presenters and guests too. I prefer yer man who presents The Football League Show after MOTD though. Bucketloads more personality than Lineker.

Even when Bein showed La Liga in English all the time, it was nowhere near Star Sports for coverage. Star you get no presenters, sure. It's no frills all the way, but the post match bonuses are what makes it a winner for me. just those damn unreliable streams... :(

    Hopes for 2016?

I want a sports network that broadcasts WPT (World Padel Tour) live matches. In English. Oh and Handball. :)

EDIT: Forgot to add Sky Sports' ultimate faux pas. El Clasico coverage late last year.

"Due to broadcasting rights we can't show you the game until 15 minutes in to the first half."

That was a shotgun, no, a hydrogen bomb dropped on the foot of News Corp and my subscription to Sky as a whole, finished. They've done it with other matches too. All that money for a subscription and you get 'some' of the match. Simply unforgivable stuff from Sky.

Look out for the Champions League final on Sky this year. Only 13 minutes of the firat half will be live and 23 minutes of the second half but not the end of the match will be live. If it goes to penalties, press the red button to pay €4.99 for extended coverage... :(

What exactly were they supposed to do? It was completely out of their hands.

There are so many things wrong with those few sentences it's impossible to know where to start.

I'm sure they'd've said broadcasting restrictions though, not rights.

The Champions League Final takes place at 7.45pm so the last line is particularly ridiculous as it's way outside the restricted broadcasting hours imposed on Sky (and other UK broadcasters, except for Wales) by UEFA at the request of the FA.

The only faux pax committed in all of this is by yourself ;)

For the last bit I was being facetious. :)

Though I am intrigued about the 15 minute blackout for such a major fixture.

    It's a 150 minute blackout which lasts until 5.15pm.

The status of the fixture bears no relevance.

What was the blackout for though? Just curious as I'd not seen anything about it at that time. I don't recall Sky saying, at the time, that the match was going to be shown from 15 minutes in to the first half.

The blackout in the UK is imposed by UEFA at the request of the different FAs -except the Welsh - and its intention is to protect the game both as a live (ie in the flesh) activity and also as a participation sport.

International matches are exempt but otherwise it usually applies to every Saturday throughout the season.

It is 2.5 hours in length and lasts from 2.45pm (protecting the traditional UK 3pm kick-off).

Unfortunately for Sky their La Liga coverage can be affected - with regular 3pm and 5pm kick offs there.

BT Sport are also affected when showing live Serie A games with a 5pm kick off.

As my interest is English football I have only witnessed Sky's blackout game once and they did repeatedly state that broadcast regulations prevented them from showing the game until 5.15pm. They instead had a Soccer Saturday style set-up with a summariser watching the game on the audience's behalf.

Indeed, that's what they did for the Clasico, they had Scott Minto presenting and Guillem Balague watching the match and pointing out any key moments.

I didn't think the restrictions had that sort of reach to affect other leagues. Thanks for the info, that makes it a lot clearer now. :)

Greetings all. Does anyone know when the new Star packs for the new season are out? My subscription expires today but I see nothing for 2015/16. I know a lot of folks don't seem to get on with Star, but for La Liga they've been superb for me in my opinion.

With my other home team getting promoted to the Premier League this year, it's two reasons for me to climb aboard the Star train again. Bein is a shambles, won't go back now unless folks report back different. I did get a Windows tablet recently though, which could prove useful...

How's PLP been this season? Any use? Does PLP show live coverage of every single EPL game, week in week out? Sorry for the amateur EPL questions, my team don't tend to hang around the EPL for long before getting relegated, so it's great we bounced back at the first attempt this time, even if we had to go to Wembley to get to the top flight! :pac:

I found PLP superb, using their app on an android box. No La Liga, was using Kodi for that!

I hope PLP are as good next season for the same price!

I'll never use Bein Sport again as I no longer trust them, last minute they cancel the Saturday EPL games!

Is it best to go for a month pass rather than a year? I heard they dumped a lot of paying customers out after performing 'checks'. I'd be keen to try them out but they seem a bit pricey.

I say one thing and do the other. I got another month of Bein tonight after reading about their player upgrade. It's woeful quality-wise, but does get the job done. More a curiosity really, I'll see how the month goes and go from there. Ditch them and come back in the Autumn perhaps.

Star is the one I want to renew. Love that crowd (though it's a mixed bag with a lot of folks I know, it just works great for me for La Liga although I found the early kick off's were getting a bit buffery recently, probably due to timeclashes with EPL matches so bandwidth is strangled to the maximum on their side? ...and afaik that deep sea cable around the area still hasn't been fixed).

I got the full season for €38 and was one of the lucky ones not to get 'checked' so I have no idea how much it costs a month. I was using Smart DNS, with their app on a Minix x8.

Excellent announcement from Spain. No more "due to ridiculous broadcasting nonsense you are going to miss the first 15 minutes...".

Hopefully not this season. Still no sign of a new Star package yet. :(

Still good news though I think, regardless of how you are watching La Liga. :)

has anybody tried BeInsports France for 12 EUR a month on a contract free? I don't think they cancel games like Beinsports Mena and they possibly offer different language options as well for games, I am tempted but I would like to have opinions from previous experiences if possible. Cheers :).

Will they have more games other than what's available on UK/IRL pay tv?

Canal+ hold the premier league rights in France in case you decide to try BeIn Sports France for that. BeIn Sports is French only in any case. They don't offer alternative soundtracks.
