After looking set to appoint the Athletic Bilbao manager, Hercule Poirot, as their new manager, a key figure in the Olympique Lyonnais boardroom vetoed the decision at the last hour, and proposed the vacant position be offered to a later applicant, Brian Kuh. Having been made aware of the current Ranger's manager's availability, the rest of the boardroom unanimously agreed with the senior figure, and a contract has been faxed over to Mr. Kuh's private residence for him to sign if he wishes to accept the offer.

Usually Mac isn't around over the weekend.. actually Friday to Tuesday is usually a write off for him, if there was tequila involved it can take up to 2 weeks for him to accept any new managers...

With Mac being off till Wednesday, I think its vital that the Barca job is handled right ...

Wilberto to set the 24hr window for applications, Wilberto to decide the winner and the time frame for them to quit their current club with the knowledge that Mac cant accept them until Wednesday earliest

Barcelona have released a statement saying that Al is still their manager at this particular moment time, and are still hoping to persuade him to remain on at the Nou Camp and, as such, are not accepting applications as of yet.

In other words, I'll wait until Barcelona become officially available before inviting applications and getting this whole transfer merry-go-round started.

Anyway, I've always said Barca would be the one team who could tempt me away from Spurs, and (*twirls mustache*) it looks like no one could stop me taking it if I wanted

But I think I'm at Spurs just too long now, and have too much invested into Spurs to walk away and start again. So to whoever gets them, remember that I could have taken them from you, and maybe do me a deal to #BringBaleBack

Looking at their team I see little point in announcing an official accepting of invitations, but if someone does want to apply then by all means do. The 24 hour rule still stands of course.

After parting company with their long serving manager, Sunderland chairman Ellis Short prepared a brief statement.

"It is with deep regret and sadness that I speak to you today about the resignation of our much loved and adored manager. After a long and successful era spanning 248 games, and which saw us claim the highly coveted Boards.ie league cup, he has decided to terminate his contract with immediate effect in order to pursue new challenges. I can assure you that I did my utmost to persuade him to see out the rest of this season and the very least, if not stay on well into the future but, alas, he remained adamant that now was the time for him to step aside. On behalf of everyone at Sunderland I would like to thank him for all the tireless effort he put into this club and wish him all the best in the future.

Finally, we will of course be on the lookout for a replacement manager, but are also aware that Sporting Lisbon are also interviewing at the moment, so I think it's best if we hold tough for the moment and see what changes, if any, that may bring about."

(I.e. Sunderland will be inviting applications as soon as the deadline for applications for Sporting Lisbon passes (not that it'll change anything by the looks of it!).
