Did you install the YNG1TAS17L update a few months ago? Thats whats available on my phone.

What software are you currently on?

I'm currently on 12.0-YNG1TAS213 and rooted with TWRP etc

    Looking for some advice here.

So I upgraded the software on my opo over the air and I am now having screen issues where the phone screen is freezing on me. I have to press the power button to make it responsive. It dosnt happen too much but it is happening enough to piss me off.

The version that I upgraded to is: 12.1-YOG4PAS1NO

    Any ideas?

Does being rooted make a difference when updating? Or are you manually installing rather than going into system updates on the phone and just installing whats available?

Being rooted doesn't matter for OTA updates but being rooted and having a custom recovery such as TWRP will affect updates.

I'm rooted with TWRP recovery V 2.8.6.1. From reading this info https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/update-cos-12-1-yog4pas1no-bugs-discussion-thread.349560/ it seems if I want to upgrade to 12.1-YOG4PAS1NO I have to :-

    1. Downgrade TWRP to V 2.8.6.0 (which I think is easily done using the Flashify app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify)

    2. Download and install the full 12.1-YOG4PAS1NO Zip file to the root of the phone and install it via TWRP.

Is that it? I recall last time I had to do this the phone didn't root or I had to manually re-install SuperSU and I made some mistake ref the toggle in Developer Settings for "Update Cyanogen recovery". If I leave "Update Cyanogen recovery" turned on it overwrites the TWRP recovery so I guess I gotta turn off "Update Cyanogen recovery" if I want to retain TWRP recovery?

Will flashing the Zip factory reset the phone or will all my settings and apps etc remain in place? It's so long since I did this I can't remember :o

Also, is there any benefit to updating to 12.1-YOG4PAS1NO from 12.0-YNG1TAS213?

I use twrp manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager&hl=en to manage the version of TWRP.

Flashing the Zip should leave settings and apps in place.
As far as remember you need to give root access in dev options now rather than Supersu and yeah you should untick the box for update CM recovery in there too before updating.

I'm definitely still in OnePlus playschool, but mine – ever since I got it – has had really bad battery life. I use it a lot, mostly for social media, but it's in the red by 11am in the morning, and will ONLY charge if I plug it into the socket with the charger that came with it (plugging it into the computer will bring up the "charging" symbol, but it will, at a push, only maintain the current charge and, if I use it at all, will actually drain further).

I also get "x app has crashed" a LOT, I turned off Google Play Services (but used to get that notification 5+ times a day), 1 in 3 times I go to open a text I get the android.com has crashed message, and it frequently overheats in my handbag.

Can anyone tell me what to do? OnePlus have said they can't help me unless I can send them video evidence, and as I lack a slave to sit beside me and film me every time I use the phone, that's not really an option... I tried this "rooting" thing, but, er, failed miserably as I'm a bit technologically dim.

I'd really appreciate if it there was a "dummy's guide" you could direct me to!

Use the 2Amp (2000mA) charger shipped with it, not USB from a laptop as USB2.0 ports only deliver 500mA which isn't anywhere near enough

You need to learn how to conserve battery, set the brightness to the lowest you can bear and only turn it up when needed. Stop the facebook and other social media apps automatically streaming and playing videos. Don't load your homescreens with lots of automatically updating widgets, they'll eat your battery. If you're getting services crashes maybe you should consider doing a factory reset

Taking a video is "not an option" because you don't have someone to sit beside you to take a video?...ffs. Its not that difficult or complicated to take a video....actually you're right its almost impossible to source a camera to take a video these days and you would probably need a cameraman rather than film it yourself.

Might be a sad end to my OPO. It did not accept a charge last night and then kept turning on loading the OS and dying when I put the cable in.

Eventually got it charging but it took forever to charge. Never really had issues with the phone before.

Let it sit for a few hours and bit the bullet and ordered an LG G4 32gb for €350. No interest in the OP2. Looking forward to it but disappointing to having to cast my OPO aside..

Looking for a bit of help. Got my opo yesterday but I can't get 4g where as before I had no problems on the Meteor network?

Simple thing first is LTE set in preferred network type under network settings?

Could be the Meteor 4g in your area is on 800 frequency and looking at the opo specs it doesn't support that band.

I had a look online on it only supports 800 and 1600 I guess I'm not in that's area. Its not a big deal just curious about it thanks for the help.

The problem is, I don't know when the problems are going to occur. They're sporadic, so by the time I see them happening, it's too late to video them – but I'll have a look into Screencast and see if it would work, thanks.

Can anyone help me with this:

I was an o2 customer who came across to 3 in the merger. I recently signed up to 4G online with 3 but can't get it to work on the One Plus One.

It is set to LTE on the phone.

I understand that the 4G comes via the 3 Irl network but I can't get any data at all on that, to get data I have to be connected to the old o2 network which doesn't have 4G.

I have both spoken to 3 on their boards forum and been into a 3 shop over this but without any joy.

You could try a replacement sim

That's silly. Replacement sim was almost always our first thing to rule out when troubleshooting issues in Carphone Warehouse. Maybe things have changed since I left there, I don't know. Fairly sure you can order one online if need be.

Other than that I guess you could try a factory reset.. but I don't see that making a difference..

What shows up under your APN settings in Settings>Mobile Network Settings>Access point names

It's still the o2 ones. I tried to enter the 3 ones but they wouldn't save as the MNC should be 05 rather than o2's 02. I suggested to them in the 3 shop that this could be part of the problem and that if they gave me a new sim perhaps it would work as I understand the sim controls what you can put in the MNC but they said that wouldn't make any difference. They entered the 3 APN into the phone with the right settings but with the wrong MNC as they said only the top two lines matter but still got no data through 3 Irl, not even Edge or 3G.

It needs to be o2 settings. Well least thats what I have, I don't think its the apn thats your issue rather something on three's end, I've my OPO picking up 4G as an ex o2 customer. Regardless, just in case, delete all the APN's and create a new one with these exact settings:

    Name: O2.ie Internet
    APN: internet
    Proxy: Not set
    Port: Not set
    Username: Not set
    Password: Not set
