Thornley is after releasing a team similar to kinsella. Will be interesting to see how close it actually is

Doubt Fitz will make the squad so wouldn't waste a match with him at 12.

If he is starting on Saturday id say he is strongly in contention.

Murray kinsella is reporting a henshaw Fitz midfield with White possibly starting

    Shoud be great to see

    That's the good order
Nailed on to get into the squad now that he is declared fit. If thats the team it looks 5 others are fighting it out for 3 spots.
Guessing JS order at the moment is:
    1. Fitz
    2. Earls
    3. Zebo
    4. Kearney
    5. McFadden

I'd be absolutely shocked if Earls doesn't make the squad, he's probably the most talented out of all the guys in competition there. I'd be similarly shocked about Fitzgerald, the only justification for him not travelling would be fitness questions. I'd imagine both are on the plane.

    agree

Also says Trimble will be released to play for Ulster.

Also says Jones may be on the bench. So after looking at those teams and from what I have heard I have come to the conclusion that

I have no idea who will travel at this stage in the backs department.

Also says Trimble will be released to play for Ulster.

Which directly contradicts what Kiss said the other day. And Thornley hasn't been as accurate of late with his predictions.

How many caps has Earls under Joe? I think it's only two, he like Fitz and Trimble to a lesser degree was injured for most of games that Joe was manager.

I doubt Earls has enough caps to be tried in the positions you mention.

That still doesn't make anything I said not true

Thornely saying Fitz will be in the centre - didn't see that coming. He is certainly in the mix for making the cut, and like others, I would be shocked if Earls isn't included as well.

Zebo is clearly the better 11

Well that's just nonsense. He's clearly better in certain areas and Fitz is clearly better in others. Depending on what you want from a winger you could pick one or the other.

I'd put money on Fitz travelling if he's fit. And I don't gamble.

With Zebo, Fitz, Bowe, Earls in contention, would anybody here imagine to drop Trimble?

He was certainly talked up by Kiss this week - I would be expecting him to play some part on Saturday, regardless of what Thornley says.

Ok, but I was talking about "absolute value"

It's not impossible. Dave K is in the mix too. Lots of quality for limited spaces. I don't think Trimble is a definite by any means.

IMO Trimble Jones Gilroy D Kearney out, Zebo Fitz Earls Bowe in
Sorry, you saw it with Marmion/Boss debate, but I favour beautiful rugby:D

If thornley is right about saturdays team with earls (14) and DK (11) thats bad news for trimble and possibly felix jones.

    But not possible either

Well, assuming Bowe and Rob K are certainties, that leaves four spots to fill for outside backs.

If Earls and Fitz can show they can cover wing and centre, that puts them top of the pile.

That leaves two from Trimble/Zebo/D Kearney/Jones/McFadden.

If McFadden and Jones aren't named today, they're gone IMO. That means two from the remaining three. If Zebo is the back-up FB, then he goes and it's a straight shoot-out between Kearney and Trimble. I'd say that's 50-50.

Didn't Fitz say he'd been dropping weight because he thought Joe saw him more as a wing option? Seems odd they'd throw him in at centre now?

All kiss really said was that he was available for selection

If all they're worried about with Trimble now is match fitness maybe letting him go play for Ulster is a good idea. Assume for a minute he's on Joe's list of definite players to travel and he's still struggling to choose the last few with Fitz, Earls, Kearney, Zebo etc still in the mix it makes sense to send Trimble off to get as close to 80 minutes of rugby as he can while still allowing the previously mentioned players to get 40/50 minutes each to sell themselves one last time.

Did he not say he'll definitely play? I'm fairly sure he did, but my memory isn't the most reliable....

Wouldn't it be gas if Joe was making all these random decisions just to mess with people on Boards.ie.

    Hi Joe!

This seems pretty spot on. arguably d.kearney could push zebo as a FB but since we haven't seen joe do this yet it's probably not the case.
