I am using a laptop so not the app but it looks good, not as good as PLP but not by much. No blurring like last season! And it is free!!

And at least you get a decent build up.

Good to hear! Bodes well for La Liga hopefully. Just means having to use the Linx 10 for Star this year then.

Never used PLP before but have to say it really is tops. Probably on a par with NBC...minus the buffering...for now. If PLP means getting every Norwich match without fail, then it's worth every penny to me.

Keeping it all crossed for Star now. Surely the EPL will close that gap if they are not charging for it? Or cripple them in to oblivion like Bein.

Not even Microsoft recommends Silverlight any more!

PLP looks top notch so far. Got it on my AFTV. Looks great!

I can't get the Star app to work. It says the match is free but the video errors out. Anyone tried Star yet?

    Which PLP please?

    What is AFTV?

    Vpn

Nbc Has a option to switch to the tactical cam and the Main cam in PIP options

One game down. PLP was spot on. Never dropped quality once or dropped connection. The full beans throughout. Now for Norwich vs Palace. :)

Apparently Star are showing delayed coverage? What was the quality like? Same, worse or better than last year?

Any reports from anyone else on other services or feeds?

Usa network are covering the everton game aswell so will watch it via Xfinity id say rather than Live extra

PLP was seamless for the first match, similar to last year and if you use a Taiwan VPN it is cheaper to sign up with.

The scare stories about the Taiwan offering put me off. Hope nobody is affected this year, from either offering.

Norwich match video seems spot on right now aside from an annoying audio pop. I think it is a problem with the actual broadcast setup and not the feed. Anyone else getting a popping sound on it?

It's good to be back even if we're going to be fighting near or at the bottom this year. :)

:edit audio pop appears to have stopped now. Video juddered very briefly and now all smooth again with clean audio too.

Was pretty happy with Star. Loved when the games were over you could go into each one and using the time bar you could watch the goals and shots, sending offs etc. A very useful feature.

PLP is utter sensual butter this evening. 4500k worth of silky smooth streaming. :)

This is up there with La Liga on Star last season.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,037 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

that with dns or vpn and new zealand?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,214 ✭✭✭STG.Otaku

.nz with DNS and VPN. The Android app is not great, limited to 1500k. The browser app goes up to 4500k so I think from now on I will hook up a Windows tablet to the TV rather than use the sideloaded app on the AFTV.

Never used PLP until this season, but the player is superb. Like the old Bein player. I tested out the live Man City feed and split the screen in to 4, running 3 replays and the live feed at the same time, Elvis style. The replays were flawless but the live match suffered a great deal. :)

Personally (in my opinion) I'm not sure... and am hoping those more knowledgable may be able to lend us a guiding hand.

Star sounds like a mixed bag judging by conflicting reports. Going by the EPL match I watched a little of on it yesterday, it was the same, if not worse than last year (for EPL). Star (as I've banged on about numerous times), in my opinion, were supreme overlords of La Liga last year. Top coverage, quality, 95% stable image all season long. If it carries on that way, why change? As it's a freebie now though I can't see that happening.

Current thoughts, for my situation anyway, are to try Star again. If it gets obliterated, I think the only real 'grey/legit' alternative is to go with Sky via a NOW TV box and buy bundles of day passes to get higher discounts.

Wouldn't even consider Bein any more unless there genuinely was no alternative.

Great news for @NBCSportsSoccer, new six-year deal to cover Premier League games in the US. Also great news for all US viewers.

Premier League & NBC agree new TV rights deal

The Premier League has announced a new deal with American broadcaster NBC Universal to show live games for the next six years.
US rights are already with NBC Universal at $83m (£53.2m) a season.
The Premier League has been negotiating its latest round of overseas television rights, having secured a record £5.1bn three-season domestic deal with BT Sport and Sky, which starts in 2016-17.
That dwarfs the existing £1bn-a-season agreement currently in place

The new US agreement covers all Premier League matches in seasons 2016-17 to 2021-22.
Premier League chairman Richard Scudamore said NBC Universal's coverage of the previous two seasons had driven interest in clubs, and the competition as a whole, to unprecedented levels.
The total overseas rights, which include lucrative regions such as the Middle East and North Africa (Mena), will be worth about an additional £2bn in the current deal cycle.

Strange as last season the Android App was limited to 3000k? I think the ios app is limited to 4500k.

I also signed up to PremierLeaguePass (PLP) using Tawian VPN and it worked a treat. I'm using SmartDNS.

Are people using the PLP Android App? I haven't managed to download the apk yet. I will also need to get a VPN working on my One Plus One to watch it on my phone anyway.

I used the app last season and it was great. I havent signed up yet for this season after last season when they cancelled lots of subscriptions.

Have people signed for the year or by month?

I signed up for the year.
I used it last year with no issues.
Didn't realise people got banned. Fingers crossed.

If anyone has a good link for the PLP App Apk let me know please.

Thinking of getting a Chromecast so I can watch PLP on my TV downstairs, I assume there is no issues doing that? I've not used Chromecast before.
Don't want to go out and buy it only to realise it's not going to work.

    Cheers

Yea I saw that, cheers. App might be handy if I'm out and about so I can use my phone.
At home I will definitely use my PC, and possibly Chromecast if and when I get it.

That was my backup, well, Now TV vouchers anyway. Isn't a Sky Go login super pricey?

Trying to avoid Bein where possible. Who else has the rights and a streaming platform?

Looks like Sony Liv is the new rights holder. The link below is legal and legit, it just doesn't work. With VPN or DNS. :(
