When prices are low it really shows that you can afford to expand if you have a profitable

So you"ve no problem tagging on half a million plus of debt when it looks like milk will be on the floor for 2015/2016 with no signs of any uplift....
Is your system so well run you'll have no problems whatsoever working of a base price of 22-24 cent for the next two years all the while hoping the price of meal dosent rocket in this period

I actually put in 32cent for nov and dec milk, high solids and liquid bonus for me. But both months combined supply of milk only represents 10% of the year, so wont sway the figures by much. But agreed in general, what I've done is only a pure estimate, the yearly average milk price I get could well only work out at 28cent.

Projects like that aren't going to be paid for in 1 or 2 years most likely over a number of years in which there will be plenty of peaks and troughs along with capital allowances on tax etc so current price affecting decisions isn't right really unless you need to use cash flow to do it or kickstart it. In our case reseeding roadway and silage slab are our aims but are restricted to cash flow for the moment so will have to see what's there once repayments and director general are covered.

Chatting to a friend of mine the other night, (Irish lad) married and living in NZ for 10 yrs. He reckons the NZ public have little sympathy for their farmers anymore. Typical example he was saying was :farmer milking 500 cows doing v well, sells his farm for €5m, buys another farm to milk 1000 cows worth €10, but he pays €12/13m, know he's crying to anyone who'll listen to him cos he can't make his payments.
Sounds like the developers in this country 5 yrs ago, and we didn't have much pity for them.
The NZ story is all driven by over ambition and dare I say it maybe greed.
Is the same thing going to happen here?

The general non farming public in Ireland have little sympathy for farmers, and least of all dairy farmers. I deal with a lot of non farming people in my job and weather it's a miss guided jealousy or just thinking "farmers are always whinging" , they have no time for farmers.

A lot of non dairy farmer's don't care what dairy farmers get for milk either.

I think that's changing, quite a lot in fact. There was an awful lot of animosity toward farmers when I started secondary school thirty years ago. Being a farmers son was enough to get you grief, you would never make any reference to what your father did. My own eldest is just finished first year and while he certainly wouldn't be making any play of what I do he wouldn't be hiding it either. Other kids from different backgrounds would have a certain amount of fascination about different aspects of what we do in fact and the bearded commies who would facilitate bullies to some degree have been replaced by teachers who will from time to time use farming to demonstrate a principal in science or geography. As the general population moves further away from farming and disgruntled siblings who felt hard done by when wills were read people take a different view. Mightened be as prevalent in other areas but certainly changes around here.

ln essence it's just another job that people do. How much time do you have for accountants for example or any of their concerns?

There's something seriously wrong there gg

    Base 26
    6.6 units for p and f % x .65cp unit roughly could be more

    Plus 2 cent top up
Plus 0.66 for some of your liquid milk

    Doesn't add up

would be handy if we could get a look at the statements... agree something not right there gg. My price was similar and solids a good bit lower than yours

currently at 3.6 rising every collection- cows still doing 30 litre so volume may be diluting it

I got the milking machine serviced today, technician said that farmers aren't put off by milk price dropping. He said He've 6 20 unit parlours to be put in this area.

That's an English study that takes no account for protein potential of cow- I've had that discussion many times and not going into again

That the actual milk price paid or net price? Net price here only 27.56, 29.44c/l when you add in vat, stability and the coop cookie jar funds. 3.80 bf 3.51 p. 420euro TBC fine in that, which I'd hope to get refunded.

    Definitely should alright.
    I'm on 31.39 cpl
    3.53 P
    3.72 f

Could be differences in amounts of milk in fixed pricing schemes.
    Makes it hard to compare.
