Pretty flat where I am but plenty of fairly quiet country roads and drivers are decent, haven't had a really close call or any abuse shouted out a window like you hear about elsewhere. Have to travel to find any hills, needless to say I'm sh1t at climbing! 1000+ metres of it today, fecked now!
Never had anything said to me by drivers in city or outskirts of Galway when cycling up there. Is fairly comfortable and flat compared to home for me..

What's the cycling like around Galway?
Grand.. City is nothing like Dublin and so much better.
City to Spiddal, Moycullen is a good route and doing a lap of lough corrib is also grand route..

I always find Dublin fine when it comes to hills. Drivers are another story. I always maintain the philosophy that you need to have a small bit of madness inside you to survive cycling around town.

Saw Birdman tonight. Absolutely no idea what that film was about.

One of the most pretentious, pointless films ever made that presumably will appeal only to super arty people who like the surreal.

Saw it at the cinema, twice, and loved it and I don't think I fit that category. But I think it's a love hate kinda movie and I know some of the people I went with hated it

There were bits of Birdman I did laugh out loud to and really liked but by the end of it I was glad it was over.

To me it's defo behind Whiplash, Nightcrawler and Interstellar

Thought the very same, and some people said I missed the point of it. Bloody waste of time

Have a feeling that whatever I buy, I'm going to buy a turkey.
I see some bikes are claiming to have carbon forks and such, I'm presuming that would be better than a complete aluminum frame?

Lighter but not necessarily better. Good quality aluminium > bad quality carbon forks.

    You defo want second hand?

I enjoyed it and my attention span for films is miniscule. Was able to understand it so that was a bonus.

On a side note, one of the girls on my wife's "ladies" lunch yesterday is a make up artist on game of thrones!! Sounds like it is a very interesting job.

Most low end Road bikes are aluminium frame with a carbon fork these days.

I think so yeah, depending on my meds and body, in 12 months time I may not be able to cycle, so I'm unwilling to lay out big money.
    Edit:
Is there any one or two bikes I should keep an eye out for, something that would be regarded as a good bike in most people's opinion.
I know Giant are popular, but surely not every Giant bike is good?

Thought it was pretty straightforward. Did well at box office so definitely appealed to a good few people.

Not a particularly convoluted storyline and a host of big names starring. Ageing actor trying to make a comeback. Simple enough. The surreal hallucinations are the only "arty" things in it, really.

    It's very overrated, though.

I thought of it as basically a bit of theatre on screen. All the scenes played out in one capture with all characters visible

Pretty much. Good CGI and fight scenes but the story was laugh out loud ridiculous. I can imagine how the writers came up with ways to keep the story moving.

"The giant, killer dino is going on a rampage but we need to squeeze 2 hours out of the movie. Ok, when they try to take it down, lets send in just a few guys....on foot....armed only with tazers".

I would have to agree with that whole heartedly, gave up half way through watching it, complete drivel!

Can anyone recommend a good seafood joint in Dublin? Is it worth it to pop out to Howth?

Some really nice places in Howth; East, Deep, King Sitric etc

In town it's a little trickier, and it depends what you're looking for! Fish Shop of Blackrock have opened a place in Smithfield.

Lobster is what I'm after. I heard King sitric and Aqua were my best bets

You won't go wrong with King Sitric or Aqua but you'll pay!

I like the Oar House (maybe oar room - always get the name wrong) on the pier in Howth too. Tasty calamari.

At least it frees up Mads Mikkelsen for a certain.... "character" on a "certain" Fantasy tv show.

Yeah I'm certainly disappointed but I'm not surprised. Out of the people I've tried to get into it, only a handful ever have so it seems to be a bit marmite.

Thought season 2 was absolutely fantastic.

Anyone watch True Detective last night? Wasn't blown away by it to be honest... I'm a massive fan of season 1, probably one my favourite TV shows, and whilst I know the 2nd season is supposed to be totally different it just doesn't seem to be the same quality.... Hopefully it'll pick up. Colin Farrell is very good in it though.
