    Targaryens aren't fireproof though.

They might have some heat resistance, but they will still burn. Dany has some resistance, but Drogons fire has burnt her.

Plenty of Targaryen kings in Westeros history have thought themselves fireproof and burnt to death as a result.

Maybe not dragon fire proof, but didn't Daeneyrs survived Drogos funeral pyre?

That was due to magic, though I do think the show has made her look fireproof on more than that occasion. She survived dragon fire in season two in the house of the undying and there was also the scalding hot bath early in season one that didn't bother her at all.

Not to mention her dreamy eyed announcement of "Fire cannot kill a dragon" following Viserys golden crown.

I think that was explained with magic.

Plenty of Targs have died in the past due to be being burnt.
    Viserys and his golden crown.
One of the Aegons was burnt in Summerhall along with half his court and family during some ritual to hatch dragon eggs.
And didn't one nutter drink wildfire in an attempt to turn into a dragon.

Plus we have seen Jon get burnt, he won't become fireproof once he and the audience know he half Targ.

A few posters in the non-readers' thread are starting to sense that Olly will soon do something nefarious. Wondering if he will do something to himself or others, some posters over there are feeling a bit of drama/mutiny coming up at The Wall. I sense some internet breakage coming.

My favourite quote about Olly from the other thread after a poster suggests that at first he thought Olly poisoned Sam's food...
The little boll0x is up to something though.

    :D

Yeah but in the show it's been more than just the pyre with Dany, I know Targs aren't fireproof but they certainly seem to have taken that slant with the show so far in Dany's case at least.

exactly, she's the chosen one, true dragon heir etc.

Agreed, they do tend to show her as fireproof.

We will see if Drogon burns her.

I'm nearly sure he burns her a bit in the book, she has melted hair and some burns on her body doesn't she after Daznaks?

    From the last chapter
Her skin was pink and tender, and a pale milky fluid was leaking from her cracked palms, but her burns were healing.

Not surprised non-readers are suspecting Olly. It is more telegraphed than Morse code at this stage.

(Plus there's always a few disguising the fact they've read the books/spoilers in order to appear 'intelligent').

Yeah there's no question she isn't fireproof in the books.

It's bloody weird is what it is, and increasingly obvious.

Is there a reason why a White Walker would engage in hand to hand combat like that one did with Jon? I mean.....I just thought they would be above that sort of thing?

Above it? Only if they have better ways of killing I guess. Given they can raise the dead with a hand wiggle, god knows what else they are capable of!

Not sure if all the WWs can raise the dead, or just the NK?

    All of them I think.

I got the sense that the WW were aware of Jon in some way - somehow aware of his differences (whatever they would be)

I thought it was just toying with him.

    Agreed......

I think they are more threathening when just sitting on the side lines....when they wade in with a sword just like anyone else, they lose a bit of that awe factor.

Remember fire can kill the wights, need the dragon/valyrian steel to kill a White Walker.

Someone in the thread said that the wights died falling off the cliff, this is incorrect, we saw during the ep a few seconds later that they were getting back up. Great seeing the giant Wunwun smashing some wights about.

Too many setup scenes with Olly/Jon/Sam that it's hard not to imagine him not getting stabby stabby with Jon in Ep 10.

I'd say it's more likely Ramsey will set fire to camp/supply lines which will create a distraction so he can kill/kidnap Shireen. They have set her up too much as well, Stannis hugging her, Davos convos etc. Hoping it won't happen but it seems likely now!! Meanwhile Sansa will try escape with Theon.

This will force Stannis to burn or bury Shireen (keep or let Me go back to the wall) and/or march to Winterfell but we will not see the battle until next season. Ramsay could steal his sword during the chaos, tell Roose that Stannis is dead and make Roose more vunerable to attack or Roose will head out as a show of force against what's left of Stannis's army.

At any rate the next episodes are going to be jam packed with awesomeness :D

What I want to know what between the beginning of the series and now that the White Walkers decided "we need clothes". Weren't the early WWs just wearing loin clothes, the fact they couldn't feel the cold made them scarier.

I actually had an 'oh shít' moment just after I posted that quote from the other thread. For a second, I thought I posted it in the 'NON Readers' thread and had to double check that I didn't just confirm that hell is about to break loose at The Wall.

    It can happen too easily.

They're seriously telegraphing Olly stabbing Jon, but at this stage I'm starting to wonder if it's just blatant misdirection, they're being particularly obvious about it. No one will be surprised if he does stab him now. If they don't go with that angle and keep the brothers as the culprits then they need to come up with a reason, in the book wasn't it because Jon decides to ride to Winterfell to rescue Arya (which is actually Jayne Poole)? Wonder what the other reason could be, unless it's Ser Alistair that kicks it off?

Sexier in their designer battle gear.

There must be 100s of white walkers, Craster had 99 sons at least and god knows how many people left babies out before that. We saw 12 or 13 WWs in the scene with Crasters baby in season 4, they were dressed too I think.

In the books I took it that they were being controlled by that warg who had recently arrived - one of the stabbers even said something like "it's not me" or something and he had tears in his eyes

Just to add, I don't think Olly is going to stab Jon. That wouldn't make sense. He may not like Jon being friendly to the wildlings, but the wildlings would be Olly's natural target. I think he's going to put an arrow in Luke Kelly.
