Meh, I wouldn't usually watch the show, someone else has it on, but I'd be inclined to give it a miss especially now.

If it's the Brendan O'Connor show you won't get a chance to watch it again........it's Ray D'arcy's from now on!

    Oh f*ck off...I didn't know that.

How can they manage to replace the most self involved irritant in the country with his only true rival for the title?

It's quite amazing really as O'Connor has actually become quite a good TV host. He actually has a conversation with his guests!!

Ah he does, I can't think of any other presenter in Ireland who could handle David McSavage as well as he did a few weeks ago.

There's a very good reason McSavage will never be on The Late Late as Tubridy just wouldn't be able for him.

He can handle people like McSavage because he is people like McSavage.

He's been well able to handle pretty much everyone in fairness to him.

I've only started watching it in the last few months or so and he does a good job.

Yeh. I've met him a few times and can say he's clearly not sober there. Host didn't really help by talking about his dead mother.

He clearly knew what state he was in before he came out. Not sure why shows do that, if they know why not just say they're sick and won't make it?

Completely agree with you. Was awful to watch and there is no way that people wouldn't have been aware in advance.

The audience were kind, but it's horribly inappropriate to not manage that situation better. I guess with it being the last show they just couldn't figure out something on the spot.

The five a side football tournament is on in Salthill so you could pop out there and have a look at that. The other option is hair of the dog :D

    Getting in was fine.

But once it started raining the place just got dangerous. People were struggling to get up the hill cause of the mud, people falling everywhere. We have all this modern H+S stuff for sport that doesn't seem to apply to gigs.

Getting out a complete joke. Had to walk for 2 fecking hours to get to the pick up point.

I get that this stuff is supposedly all part of the Slane experience but fcuk that nonsense.

Hire a bike and cycle along the coast route over the Golden Gate Bridge as far as Sausalito, have a beer there and get the ferry back. Very popular, easy spin and a great way to see the bridge.

    Things to do:
Stay in the mission district or at least spend a good bit of time there! I'm sure you'll look past it's stereotypical hipsterish image and appreciate it for what it really is which is a melting pot of cultures and some really genuine people and businesses. The food, people and general vibe of the place is amazing.

Depending when you go check out Sunday Streets in San Francisco, they close down a major street to traffic on a Sunday and they put on loads of cool stuff like music and food and just chilled out stuff (like yoga to street libraries)

Rent a bike, cycle around the city (although beware the hills) but take a day and cycle out over the golden bridge and spend the afternoon in Sausalito. It's a real west coast fishing town, little quaint village with all the American neighbourhoodisms. Some really good Italian food there too. Stay and grab a late lunch and a few beers and as Zzippy says you can grab the ferry back. (Cycling up that hill after lunch would be torture).

Do all the usually tourist stuff; Alcatraz, the pier area, union square, china town, little Italy, mission district, Castro, painted ladies... The city itself is very small and walkable so you can do a few things in a day.

Grab a six pack and spend some time in Delores Park. You know those moments you get at a sunny festival where you're in no hurry to see an act and just spend time chilling on a side of a hill with your mates? That's basically Delores park, 24/7, a little patch of grass between Castro and mission and it boasts some pretty impressive views of uptown San Fran, I recommend going there late evening as often people turn up and play random gigs as the sun sets. Also some absolute loons there but that all just ads to the experience.

    Places to eat and drink:
    • El Farolito on Mission st. I dare you to find a better burrito, anywhere.
    • Panchitas on 16th: Papusas are basically South American pillows of joy, and this place specializes in them. Get them with refried beans and cover in hot sauce.
    • Mission Chinese food: strange popup restaurant in the back of an actual Chinese restaurant, chef is renowned for being a bit out there and specialized in really bold schezuan spices
    • Ike's sandwiches on 16th: name says it all
    • Mozzeria pizza: very cool pizza place, always a que
But you really can't go wrong for food in the mission/Castro areas. Anywhere on 16th, Valencia or mission st is where it's at for food. A lot of very authentic South American food, so if you like that then you want to hit up that area. Really good coffee shops around there too if that's your thing. Only places I ate outside or that area was the Italian district up north, and again you can't really go wrong, it's all mostly Italian-American tho so be prepared for giant portions!

I just googled the area you're staying in. Honestly I didn't do much up there aside from the odd jog and there's a really good gym near by but the city is so small you can get anywhere within 5 minutes.
