Yeah it's great stuff. I'm gonna get the unflavoured one next time and add my own.

Is that not the usual price?

Optimum nutrition gold standard which I usually use is about twice that.

No I meant for myprotein, I thought it was being linked because of some sale or something.

How do you add your own flavour? I've only recently started taking protein and have been getting the vanilla flavoured one from Holland and Barretts which I find quite tasty

Generally you buy an unflavoured batch of protein and use this. It'd probably work with vanilla but it may taste funny:

Actually I have plans to open a protein shake bar, where we only use whey skimmed from cheese made from unicorns and polar bears, and will have flavours like burnt coal and raspberry & kobe beef.

    And everything will be €20.01

Having an absolute mare with MyProtein after the clown outfit they use for deliveries handed my order to some randomer and considered it delivered. The order has obviously gone missing and their customer service has been an absolute disaster. Decent product at a cheap price and have liked them in the past but after this experience I don't think I'll be using them again.

Are you lads firing this protein into you every day?

If you stopped would the weight drop off?

    Yes.
    No.

It's just food (roughly speaking, 1 protein shake is the same as a chicken breast).
It's for growth & repair of muscles. If you don't use them, there's not a huge amount of need for additional protein.

    Fibre is what you're after.

People get hung up on 'protein' as a supplement. All 'Whey Protein' is is a byproduct of making cheese. It's basically just cheese dust. It's certainly not performance-enhancing. It's a convenient way of getting an important macro-nutrient into your body. That's about it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,308 ✭✭✭✭.ak

Yep, and cheaper. If I wanted to get the amount of protein in my body that my current macro load out is calculated at it would mean constantly buying meat, extra chicken breasts, cooking them, eating them, making sure they're not going to waste etc... It's a bit of a mess. Protein powder lasts for ages if stored correctly, is easy to consume, and is easy to measure so you know exactly what you're getting... but if I had loads of money and a professional chef who prepared all my meals I'd probably end up consuming very little of it.

Is that just branded flavouring that you'd use for baking??

Yeah as the lads said it's just a cheap easy way of upping your protein intake. Unless you're taking some kind of mass gainer the calories are actually relatively low so it won't be contributing a large amount to your caloric maintenance.

That said I'm actually trying to put on some lean weight rather than lose it, but even if I wasn't there are probably better options for reducing daily caloric intake than a shake.

Honestly I'm not sure. I've never used it or looked into it really, I just buy the flavoured stuff usually.

I think it's more that Samoan RFU are glad they don't divert money through the US and the US doesn't know anything about rugby!

Not so long ago there were a lot of raised eyebrows at the awarding of a RWC to NZ!

The eyebrows were raised because Wales was doing some ass-licking (I imagine...sadly no game ended up in the Millenium in 2011).

No doubt there was some horse-trading (Ireland will do the same for their bid...) but I doubt monetary bribes passed hands...

To be honest, I'm sure nothing to the extent of FIFA ever takes place in rugby but I wouldn't be surprised at all if a few backhanders were given here and there. When there are such large quantities of money involved, I'd be surprised if there wasn't some level of monetary exchange for some decisions on occasion.

I'm not just referring to the NZ RWC but other tournaments as well such as European finals, JWC tournaments etc.

In fairness I think the significant push on this is the fact that the migrant death toll is pushing towards 1000 in Quatar and whilst authorities can't do anything about that - they can do something about FIFA facilitating that scenario.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2015/05/27/a-body-count-in-qatar-illustrates-the-consequences-of-fifa-corruption/

I heard that when the officials were being arrested they all fell to the ground and were rolling around in agony as they police tried to handcuff them.

In an office with a few people who were out last night. I feel so much fresher looking at them.

Sorry, I know this doesn't help....
