On my way to work saw a white GT86 around Clontarf and a White Daihatsu Move near St Vincents Hospital.

I gave the thumbs up to the move as it is so rare here and since researching importing one I never thought I would see one driving around.

The only thing I use the car horn for is when you line up to the right of someone before a roundabout with two "IN" lanes from your road, and they go for the racing line as if you weren't even there.
In other words, almost every roundabout in Limerick.

So I went to see could I fix my number plate light that wasn't working took of the cover took out the bulb wasn't blown out it back in and is working now :) one thing though is when I looked it up it said the car had festoon bulbs but it actually has 5w5 bulbs which got me thinking about the LED. Someone suggested them here before is it halfords cool blue bulbs ? I think that's what they are called. Is it just they are a whiter look bulb not blue. Would they work well as number plate lights ?

Laser Blue is kinda "nightbreaker white" rather than halogen yellowy. Dunno about the life of these compared to standard bulbs.
    http://www.halfords.ie/motoring-travel/bulbs-wiper-blades-batteries/bulbs/halfords-hbu501lb-laser-blue-car-bulb-x-2

Ultra Blue is skanger / china ebay blue.

I understand matching parking lights to headlights, but I don't get "cool" number plate bulbs - the murkiest dimmest bulb that will pass NCT would suit me fine. I knew someone who rewired his number plate bulbs to be in series rather than parallel...

I have LED license plate lights. They look MUCH better than the standard halogens.

I just don't feel like I need to emphasise my number plate.
I can understand that some people do feel that need.

One of my licence plate bulbs has stopped working due to the crippling rust around it :pac:

I try the laser blue so. I think the factory led number plate lights look suits the newer focus so that's why I figure it might work well with my megane. The laser blue might be a good inbetween just a whiter normal bulb.

I had the laser blues in the Civic (parking lights) and honestly, I couldn't tell the difference when the lights were on.

You'd be better off getting LED bulbs tbh. They'll look much better.

Bought a few bits from this crowd and their stuff has always worked flawlessly.

Yeah they match up nicely to nightbreakers or other bulbs around the 4000k mark.

Personal preference and all that, I'm a big fan of quality LEDs for other applications but for me, personally ..

The bottom looks much better to me then. All personal preference really. Same way I think Xenons look better than halogens.

Think led number plate lights are naff as they are more of an afterthought(led bulb added to existing old fashioned bulb location), you get a big beam of light only lighting up a portion of the plate.

A proper led light should light the whole rectangle number plate up not just the bit under the two bulbs

    Backlit e-ink would be interesting.
Could be remotely changed to "stolen" "no insurance" or whatever.

i agree. nothing says tacky quite like aftermarket LED bulbs. you can tell from a country mile away what cars had them as standard and which don't. i like keeping my bulbs OEM :)

My car has half LED/half halogen as standard. The rear lights are all LED, apart from the license plate bulbs! I'll try to get pictures of mine at some stage, I'd be surprised if someone could describe them as tacky.

As do I. I didn't put single LED bulb replacements in, but two entirely new units that have 16 LEDs per unit.
