Any idea who we play in the semi?

Nice bit of hurling to play yet before we find out who we play, last weeks draw between London and Kildare set things back a week and now the semi finals are on the 30th of May

Derry V London (both first round winners)

Mayo V Kildare (both first round losers)

The quarter finals will be made up of Down,Meath, the losers of Derry/London and the winners of Mayo/Kildare

Kerry are in the semis and will be joined by the winners of Derry/London next week,we have a two weeks wait to find out who we play next.

Kerry V Cork Electric Ireland Munster GAA Minor Football Championship Semi Final

The Kerry Minor Football Team to play Cork in the Semi Final of the Electric Ireland Munster GAA Minor Football Championship in Austin Stack Park on Wednesday evening at 7:30pm shows one change in personnel from that which defeated Clare in the Quarter final – Jack Morgan of Austin Stacks comes in at corner back in place of Dingle’s Tom O’Sullivan. Darren Casey of St Marys joins the substitutes list in place Evan Cronin of Spa who misses the game due to a broken collarbone.

    The team is as follows:

    1. Billy Courtney Dr. Crokes

    2. Darren Brosnan Gneeveguilla

    3. Jason Foley Ballydonoghue

    4. Jack Morgan Austin Stacks

    5. Gavin White Dr. Crokes

    6. Mike Breen Beaufort

    7. Daniel O’Brien Glenflesk

    8. Mark O’Connor (Capt.) Dingle

    9. John Mark Foley Kilgarvan

    10. Brian Ó Seanacháin Ballydonoghue

    11. Bryan Sweeney Listowel Emmets

    12. Sean O’Shea Kenmare

    13. Stephen O'Sullivan Templenoe

    14. Cormac Linnane Beale

    15. Conor Geaney Dingle

    Fir Ionaid

    16. Eoghan O'Brien Churchill

    17. Tom O'Sullivan Dingle

    18. Michael Foley Spa

    19. Dara O’Shea Kenmare

    20. Graham O'Sullivan Dromid Pearses

    21. Ronan Buckley Listry

    22. Darren Casey St Marys

    23. Brandon Barrett Ardfert

    24. Jack Goulding Ballyduff

    25. Andrew Barry Na Gaeil

    Bainistíocht:

    Bainisteoir: Jack O’Connor (Dromid Pearses)

Roghnoirí: Micheal O’Shea (Castlegregory), Eamon Whelan (St Senans).

Treanalaí: Alan O’Sullivan and Arthur Fitzgerald.

    Captain: Mark O’Connor (Dingle)

    Kitman: Ger O’ Mahony,

    Physio: Kieran O’Shea,

    Liaison Officer: Christy Killeen

The Kerry team contains just one of the side that won the All Ireland title last year - Mark O’Connor at midfield who also captains the side. Stephen O’Sullivan, who was introduced as a sub in all of Kerry’s games last year is named at corner forward while both Jason Foley and Jack Morgan, substitutes last year, are named in the full back line. Last year’s centre back, Andrew Barry, is recovering from injury and is included on the extended panel.

The Crokes and the Stacks were the only clubs allowed use the inter county players at the weekend, rest of the clubs losing out again.

They had training on Saturday or something along those lines so weren't able to tog out. We have no county players so doesn't affect us but it is quite silly in reality.

Peter Crowley played at Midfield against Rathmore over the weekend too, its crazy how theyre not allowed play but will be allowed play in the Championship in a couple of weeks time

Donaghy causes mayhem in the Crokes defence.

Stacks won out in Extra Time 2-9 to 0-13.

Penalty was apparently missed by Shane O'Callaghan

Gooch top scorer with 8 points.

  • Registered Users Posts: 487 ✭✭stuba

Yeah it was missed by Shane Callaghan alright. Think Gooch had 7 points, all from frees though. Shane Carroll had 6, 3 from play and stepped up when it was needed most with a few massive scores near the end of normal time.

Are the Rock the first team in Kerry with Hawk eye so they are? :D

Wasn't at it, so you're probably correct about Gooch.

Great angle from behind the goals alright, and you really see the pulling off Donaghy. All you can do to try and stop him.

Don't envy Mike Moloney marking him, Donnaghy is so good at holding off fellas, getting planted and judging the ball going into him, even if you stand off him somewhat and try to rush him when he has it his hands mean he'll either have it punched over the bar or laid off to a runner coming through

Shane Callaghan missed a peno against ourselves too actually! Donaghy is next to impossible to mark. Never realised the sheer size of the man until two weeks ago when we played them.
I feel sorry for the fella who's collar bone got broken by him now!

Why would you leave him one on one?

    #justcrokesthings

Crokes have a tendency to plan their own game abd just plan to totally outscored the opposition regardless of who they are playing. IMO of course, I have no idea what goes on in the dressing room .

Only 1 man in Ireland I'd leave 1 on 1 with Donaghy and that's Aiden O'Mahoney. They always go full throttle against each other when playing in club games. 2 tough footballers.

To be honest the Crokes aren't the only team to do this. Dingle left poor 17 year old Marc Ó Chonchubhair on him last year. Rediculous decision.

I believe I'm on record as saying that dingle performance was the most tactically inept in the history of sport.

Kerry v Cork in the Minors finished 0-11 points each.

Extra Time is meant to be played, but the lights aren't on in Austin Stack Park at the moment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,363 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Looks like the match is going to continue into Extra time, though Radio Kerry are reporting that only 7 or 8 bulbs are working on the lights!

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,363 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

13 points to 12 to Kerry in Extra Time.

5 minutes left in the First Half of Extra Time.

EDIT: 14 12 now, but Kerry have a fairly strong wind it sounds like. 1 minute till HT in ET.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,363 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Conor Geaney has stepped it up in ET with 2 points.

15 points to 12 at Half Time in Extra Time.

That radio Kerry commentator is driving me nuts , he gives the club of each player every time he touches the ball, its like some form"" the man from Tourette's "" .Cork with strong wind in second half.

    1-12 to 0-15

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,363 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

    Point for Kerry!

how were Cork fancied when ye are defending All Ireland champions or has there been a big turnover in players for this year?

Yip, only 1 starter from last years winning team. Cork had a few players from that good rochestown team. Plus supposedly had a better forward line.

But, but, but never write off a Jack O'Conner coached team.
