What movie is that from again?

It's from the TV show V, from back in 84

And I find Clarkson quite entertaining, just don't think he should have punched a guy because he was drunk and hungry.

At least he's not one of the lizard people. Well, so far I haven't seen him eat a hamster before, otherwise Hammond would be missing. :D
That gif of Jordan is quite disturbing.

    Anyone could have cancer.
    He doesn't have cancer.
I know people who have had cancer.
I know people who have had cancer and died.
I know people who have had cancer and survived.
I know people who found a lump that turned out to be not cancer.

None of the above, at any point, appeared to get hammered and punch someone.
Nor did any of them, in my memory, use their illness or concern about same, as an excuse to be an @sshole.

But its great that your attention seeking little mind thinks it's an excuse and attempts to use expectations of compassion to expect to see the diva that Clarkson was on that evening somehow be understood.

Everyone has bad times, most cope with it with a measure of dignity.
Sadly on that occasion he conducted himself with no dignity at all.
On the other hand, since the event all parties appeared to be quite dignified in their handling of the situation.
The only people that let Clarkson down now are blowhards and attention seekers who make fools of themselves on threads like this.
This is just ridiculous. You may know people that have had cancer and managed to deal with it just fine but that doesn't mean that everyone is going to deal with it like it's no big deal. Finding out you could die can cause massive trauma and upset and I wouldn't hold it against anyone for going slightly off the rails after hearing they could have cancer.

This is just a further example of people letting their contempt for a TV character cloud even the most basic levels of empathy. It's pretty disgusting to use the cancer scare as another reason to belittle the person affected and anyone with sympathy for him.

I think Ciderman has been one of the more reasonable posters here.

So, is there some reason why Clarkson couldn't just cone out when the incident happened and say, look - "I've been under a bit of stress, had a health scare but not using it as an excuse, I was wrong and I apologise"?

We've all over-reacted (granted we haven;t all hit people) but that would be the thing to do in such a case. Not saying the BBC should have let him off or anything, but let's face it - I'd have had abit mre respect fro him irrespective of the outcome had he done so.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Well said and there was good reason for him to be concerned, as it's not the first time he has had some health issues which he was told could be signs of something more sinister:

That's what most sensible people would accept Princess, however Clarkson, it would appear, didn't see it that way .

This is why bringing up cancer is such a tried and true PR move, so long beloved of the Cliff Maxfords of this world. You can't possibly criticise someone who is having a cancer scare. People tend to get on their high horse when the big C is mentioned.

A cancer scare did not cause his abhorrent behaviour. I think it's pretty disgusting and tacky to try and attempt to excuse it in such an emotive way.

Tackiness,I'm afraid is a done deal with the Clarkson brigade.

They seem to have invented the word 'tacky' .

Guy has no class, which is probably why he attracts the kind of follower he attracts.

Read my posts and you'll find I don't have contempt for him.
Nor did I suggest people who have cancer scares treat it like no big deal.
What I did say is that people with cancer/cancer scares don't typically bellow at a fellow employee for 20 minutes before punching them.
I've also pointed out that, after the incident, all parties conducted themselves with dignity.
But don't let any of that cloud your little rant.
    Have fun.

Oh, he's not a TV character, that would be a fictional character like Rumpole or Fr Ted, he's a TV presenter.

And its the people who, for the duration of this "debate" have suggested that it was no big thing and Mr Tymon was a pussy, and are now asking for compassion for Jeremy, they are the ones coming off disingenuous and with no sense of irony whatsoever.

Well said, I must say I despair at the attitude of those who seek to justify the behaviour of Clarkson. There were numerous posts vilifying Tymon, vicious posts,to be fair, and then the one track merchants row in with righteous bombast to try to justify the unjustifiable .

There was one good post in all this and if I can paraphrase....

Why didn't the guy hold up his hand, apologise with dignity and move on from there?

    Why ?

Think it was MaryAnne who said that... Would have sorted it all out.

    Act like a man,not a bully.

Edit it was Princess Consuella- sorry

This whole thread is turning (or has already turned) into a complete train wreck. Clarkson is not an absolute monster like some are making out, even if he does have a knack for saying some stupid and at times even offensive stuff (an earlier post of mine was in reference to him previously joking about cancer). For all this "real man's man" talk however, he actually is quite a diva by many accounts with an over inflated ego. Doesn't make him the worst person in the world or anything of the sort, but at the same time he has been warned over his behaviour a number of times before and what he did is about as cut-and-dry of a stackable offense as there is. People defending him as not being responsible or accountable for his own actions, and especially those attempting to blame Tynan (some of whom appear to quite clearly be on a wind up at this point) for getting 20 minutes of abuse followed by a punch in the face seem to be pretty divorced from reality.

And for the record he is a pretty good presenter, and I really enjoyed TG as background TV despite not possibly being able to have any less interest in cars than I currently do.

Don't think anyone referred to him as a ' monster' ,classless, perhaps, but not a monster?

Jimmy Saville and various dictators have been mentioned.
Even Jordan and Kerry Katona, which in my book is going way, way to far.
Reminds me of South Park where Satan had to be assured he is not as bad as those girls on My Super Sweet 16. :pac:
So, to recap, Clarkson is an ass and one can compare him to Jimmy Saville, but nowhere near as bad as lizard people and soul suckers like Kerry Katona and Jordan.

. People freaking out and compaing him to Jimmy Saville and Hitler.

Once again, people weren't saying his actions were on a par with Jimmy Savile's. The reason he was mentioned was to demonstrate that the BBC has previous for letting The Talent get away with whatever they want without reproach.

I believe he's to invade Poland next week, power sliding across the border in an amoured Veyron going "Phwoar!"
