Jeremy was merely defending the realm when he smote the evil Irish tyrant who sought to starve him and his people. God speed, brave Jezza.

Tymon = Tyrant... could it be so simple??

The English they came, took our land, raped our sheep, ate our grass and took our men as cookers of steak!
Many years later one got drunk and, because his steak was not ready boxed out brave Irish lad!
But the brave Hibernian chap fought back, by standing there, and the son of Clark was slain, by reporting himself and being judged by his line manager and had his contract not renewed, though the line manager didn't stop him from appearing on any other BBC shows and continue on with the live shows that the BBC still had a hand in.......

as epic poems go I think it worked well in the first half, I might have to work on the pentameter of the second part, maybe stick something in about Newgrange and the Heroes of the republic...
I smell another I, Keano in the making!

I've been defending Clarkson throughout this thread but as much as I like him it doesn't take away from the fact he did something stupid and sackable. If top gear doesn't come back it's entirely Clarksons fault.

I've supported keeping Clarkson on the show as I think he's critical to the show and that the producers would need to take into account that firing him would probably be the end of Top gear. I don't support what he did and I've never defended that action.

But if Tymon was a zombie, and the reason he couldn't produce a steak was because he had consumed the kitchen staff, what then???
I feel you might have the answer to this most critical of questions.

I see it's being reported that Sue Perkins is giving Twitter a wide berth due to getting death threats from Top Gearheads.

    Classy.

That's just rank. There's a certain kind of internet troll these days that is just a mean, nasty little sh*t. We give out about Boards and particularly AH, but we're getting off fairly lightly here.
Anyone who posts death threads and "fcuk you ******" should be found and forcefully castrated with a rusty garden shears and the video put on youtube. We'll skip the anesthetic.

What Clarky boy and the 2 amigos need to do is follow in Conan O'Briens footsteps of Winning the Internets. James May is cracking onto this slightly with his twitter & youtube, the man has potential. Clarky boy needs to do this too, be tough to get Hammond to be constructive in this respect.

The three of them need to get out there, youtube clips! twitters! on the road shows! post pics, interact with other social media, experiment with this stuff and saturate the internets with their material. Win the young hip crowd and forget about the old PC brigade stuck gawping at their tele box sets looking for a replacement to them

This is how top gear will survive in its glory :D or ye know some other station fund em.

They just might find, after years of having everything done for them by the BBC, that trying to orgNise things for themselves might be a step too far.

I would also suggest that the "old PC brigade" as you call them have moved on now and for them Top Gear is history and its' Jeremy who?' for them.
The Donut brigade won't have the sense to do anything as their money is gone putting rubber in roads whilst going round in circles and getting nowhere.

So. ... Not good news I'm afraid.

I'd say the lads have a future together alright, but they may find that a certain measure of success was as a result of the stage they had via the BBC.
They'll still make money but I can't see Hammond in particular having much of a career outside of the trio that isn't light entertainment presenting, a bit like Alan Titchmarsh after his gardening shows petered out.
Of all of them I think May has the best career path, with some excellent shows in his CV that don't rely on his persona as one of Clarksons straight men.

The search for a suitable successor has unearthed one candidate, who has considerable TV experience and is currently available

I think that's a bit harsh on Hammond, he's done some interesting, albeit random documentaries for the bbc recently. The latest being one on the weather which I found quite good. I think he might find himself better off than Clarkson.

well, it turns out Jezza had a major cancer scare two days before the incident, this paints a totally different picture now, the strain he was under must have been awful, no wonder he reacted the way he did, I hope Tynan is happy with himself now

Oisin Tynan didn't get Jeremy Clarkson fired.
    Jeremy Clarkson did.

Did Tynan cause the lump on Clarkson's tongue? Did Tynan report the incident? Did Tynan decide not to renew Clarkson's contract?

Thnan was verbally abused and subjected to a physical attack resulting in a minor injury. He kept a dignified silence. He has good reason to be happy with himself.

He might be unhappy about Clarkson, but that's another matter.

Maybe if he drank less and looked after himself he wouldn't have had this very convenient cancer scare? Why is this only coming out now? I say it is more bull from a total sh1t who attacked a work colleague because he is a bad drunk!

A lump on his tongue that according to his doctor was probably cancer???

What kind of doctor did he go see? Doctor zivago or doctor Doolittle? No real doctor will ever tell a!patient that something as random as a lump on their tongue that could be caused by any number of bites cysts boils or even spicy food was cancer and that they should get it checked out!

    What an absolute boffoon!

Jesus. Clarkson played the cancer card. I used to like him, but that's just pathetic.

yeah cos he gave him a cancer scare.....

how exactly are you connecting his actions and the cancer scare? Do you just not like him because Clarkson stupidly punched him?

I heard a panelist on Marian Finucane's programme express an interest in seeing the report, so you are not the only doubter.

Yet again, more accusations that Clarkson is a liar, and again, feck all to back the claim up.

He is not making excuses by the way, he is just giving the reasons why he feels he acted so uncharacteristically that day. He did after all also say: ‘Everybody has stressful days, and they manage to cope better than I did.’.

Neh bother Jezza. Knew something was amiss with you.

As the kids be saying these days, haterz gonna hate. Will look forward to that 'new baby'.

Poor guy. I'm proud of Clarkson now. He didn't use the cancer scare as an excuse at the time until he got the all clear. Brave guy, if only some others here could take a leaf out of his book once in a while.
