That's a shame, what way did you not get on with it?

I got used to the seating position pretty quick so had no soarness or anything.
I just missed the ability to relax and enjoy a drive. I was under no illusion about that when buying it, I knew it was an aggressive seating position and a fast drive. I enjoyed driving the bike every time, I just didn't see myself missing slower driving and relaxing on a bike.

While you're down that way why not have a look at this. It's a little dearer but it's a younger bike.

Had seen that a while back. The power coating looks awful. Would need new levers, bar ends and the wheels powder coat again straight away if I bought it.

Really I'm just looking for something comfortable that still have the power to put a smile on my face if opened up.

Blackbirds are mad prices, will go see that one tomorrow but I will be looking to spend in the ballpark of 2500 on it. Have a post on biker and someone said the back tyre on that blue bird looks ****ed

Lol seen ya on biker and had to do a double take.

I sat on a cbr 954RR last week and was surprised how comfortable it felt. I never sat on a sports bike before and ruled them out due to the size of my gut but the cbr felt ok. Come to think of it the only bikes I ever sat on was my own cb400 and lookbehindyou sv650, or was it a sv650??? anyone know

Always liked that model vfr but ive been told a good few times to always try get one that 05+ as the vtec was massively improved aswell as another few tweaks to the bike. There is a lovely one in Armagh but the exchange rate rules it out.

I sold a VFR to buy a Blackbird. I ended up going to England to buy one as everything here was s#*#e. If you're really after a 'Bird there's a guy on the CBR1100 Facebook page selling one. He's up the North. He's selling a red one to free up enough funds to do a total custom job on his other Blackbird. Only passed an Mot on Friday and he's asking £1800

Sorry Goodlad, I've been away all weekend. Here's the bike

    https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=969090349770339&set=pcb.10153348395433273&type=1&theater
    Here's the page

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/HondaXXBlackbird/?fref=nf

The the bike is in Portadown and is still for sale with full luggage. If you don't fancy the luggage you could sell it on for €300-€400 easily.

If you can't get onto it pm me and I'll send you whatever details I have.

Replaced the air filter on the bird with a K&N one.

I was proud of myself for getting it done on my own and without having to completely remove the tank!

Then just as I was about to put the tank back on one of the goddamn rubbers fell off the front of the tank and landed on top the engine block. Thirty minutes turned to an hour and half! I had to strip the fairings off the side of the bike to get the stupid thing! The other half got a good laugh out of it.

To top it all off I ran out of time and didn't even get a spin in with the new air filter in, going to take a quick blast in a few minutes.

Cush Drive is next on the list, then bleeding the brakes and putting new fluids in.

Picked this up in Belfast today. Really nice example, only 8k KM's on it.

That is a beautiful bike, much prefer them over the Bandits. Would really love one of them myself....What year is it, hope you not hammered on the VRT with the low miles.

Cheers, it's a 2008 so will be grand on the VRT. Sterling rate is ****e but i couldn't pass on it after looking at a few rough ones.

It's my first non-Suzuki bike! Had a Bandit a few years ago and always liked these so said i'll give it a try.

concerns that there was <6000km on it, else you'd be done for VAT too :o all good though!

Is it the rocker cover gasket?
If it is a new gasket and retighten carefully will sort it out.
Don't strip the threads they are only very lightly tightened.
Some people take the old gasket off and put a thin smear of gasket sealer on it and refit it.

Right on the nail with the rocker cover gasket cj :).
Had fook all time to do anything about it.
Got chopper to look at it and the gasket was cracked, stuck a bit of paste on it and no more leak:D

Replaced the cush drive, bled the breaks and clutch, put in new fluid. Also replaced the rear break pad's since I had the wheel off, they were almost gone. I thought the breaks were good on the bird, they seem to be even better now.

While I had the wheel off I was checking the bearings, one of them was ok but the one on the left had a little bit of a play in, if I stuck my finger in it would move maybe 1 or 2 mm, going to have to bring it in to the shop to get that done as I don't have the tools to pull out the old one and re-seat the new one.

Next on the list is exhaust silencer clamp and seal's. Only one of them needs replacing but I will do both regardless. Once that's done I will have a go at checking the headstock bearings and re-greasing them, there is no play or in it but the bird is almost 45K kilometers so might as well get it done while I can, while I am at it I will also replace the fork oil and seals.

Thank fcuk for Haynes manual's lol!

EDIT: Used this kit from halfrods to bleed the breaks, was dead easy with it, http://www.halfords.ie/motoring-travel/motorcycling/motorcycle-accessories/gtmoto-brake-bleeder

The thing about wheel bearings is that once they get a bit of wear on them they can fail very suddenly.

I changed the front wheel bearings on a CBR6 once, was easy with a hammer and drift and a couple of blocks of wood to support the wheel.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

Local bike shop is a 15 minute walk, I'll just take the wheel over to them. Probably won't even charge me for it.

Fair enough. But you'll still feel like a bit of an eejit rolling the wheel up the road :pac:

Was half way to limerick yesterday and back brakes started tearing so just put new pads on there.
Removed old front fairing from RVSR and waiting for DPD to arrive with new one.
The Bike fell off its stand at some stage and broke a small piece off and marked the fairing.
Me being a fussy fûcker couldn't live with it like that so new one had to be got!
