Will do but I need to pick up some wet dry sandpaper first. Might be a week or two before I tackle the forks. I think similar kits over here are €45 upwards.

You'll be amazed with the difference after you have them done!
Are you lacquering them after the polish?
I polished a set a few years ago and didn't lacquer them, just maintained them every so often with AutoSol.
    Really transformed the bike.

Im undecided. Could you recommend any good brands for lacquer? How often is every so often if I just autosol them?

Depends on how much the bike is out in the weather.
    3 or 4 times a year maybe.
    It only takes 5 minutes.

    Lacquer??
Not sure but I have bought coloured spray paint off motor colour.ie a good few times and happy with the quality.
I personally wouldn't buy it in Halfords anyway.

autosol is a good shout, as it protects (to some degree) what its just polished

So a week into ownership and i gotta say the Hornet is a crackin bike. It's fun, very easy to ride and more comfortable for the commute than the GSXR it replaced.

The only issue i found is that the clutch lever felt uncomfortable; it seemed to be further away from the bars than my previous bikes and i was pulling it with the tips of my fingers. Didn't feel right. An excuse really to order some new levers  I went for ASV in standard length. Having fitted them i maybe should have got the shorty brake lever but overall I'm very happy with them.

Well just going by what I was reading on a few different forums....granted some where in the US if that makes a difference.

There is an almost infinite number of people on US bike forums talking completely through their hoop, very difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

Not just at high speeds blu3, also with full luggage and carrying a pillion. Its a huge game changer TBH. Have to be careful....

With full luggage and/or carrying a pillion, a few kgs off the back will be beneficial.

In fairness It was not just the US forums, but yeah I get what you are saying.

Where did you get the levers from?
I'm thinking about getting a set for myself

Got them from Sportbikeshop in the UK. Worked out cheaper than from the US. They've 10% off at the minute. Plus they had them in stock.

Ordered Wednesday lunchtime and had them Friday morning.

Decided to treat the beast with a fresh sup of oil and filter from Lee honda. Picked up a can of ACF-50 also.

I also picked up a polishing kit from the UK. Im gona do my forks when I have the time. The kits worked out at €38 delivered.

Interesting, have been looking at that exact Polishing set as well. Interested in what you think of it

Took the NX down to work on Thursday, coming back it started running badly on part throttle, would only run well at highish throttle openings, Classic sign of a blocked Pilot jet.
The little orifice in them is much smaller than the main jet so they block easier.
I have an inline filter on the bike so I was a bit pissed off that this happened but stripped the bodywork and pulled the carb out.
There was a very small amount of water and some flakes of a pale substance in the bottom of the float bowl and the pilot jet was blocked.
A blast of carb cleaner and a quick blow through with the compressed air and put it all back together and its running great again.
Also lubed the clutch and choke cables, some amount of crap came out of the choke cable, I ran GT85 through it until all the rusty crap was clear.
I will need to replace it at some point though, the plastic nut that screws into the carb body has only 1 or 2 threads left.
Just checked Micks Honda parts and they are only 20 euro.

Probably doesn't belong on this thread but I dropped the Mille at the painters today!! I can't wait to get her back. She's been damaged for 80% of the time I've owned it. Of course I'd forget to take a proper before pic

Stuck on some mirror externders on the Diversion last night - managed to break one of the fasteners on the dash plastic taking it off.

Anyone more familiar know if this is a normal-looking yoke or if it's a yamaha thing? And if so where I'd pick one up?

Nothing but cosmetic, the other one and allen bolts keep it on grand, but it's the kinda thing that'd annoy you. Broken one on the bottom right, with the intact one for comparison.

Pretty sure they are called Pop Rivets. May help with your search using that name

    http://www.amazon.com/VEX-Robotics-Bearing-Rivet-50-pack/dp/B009L8Z6EC

Im sure they can be found closer to home though

The ones Honda use are called scrivets, they have a little + in the head and can be taken out with a ¼ turn of a screwdriver, the head pops up and you lever the main rivet body out.
Those ones you have are also called rivets, Any decent mechanic or bike shop will have them for a few cents.
Used in Car trims as well.

Does the "non numpty" cert cancel out all the numpty certs you have accumulated? :D

The bike got some much needed TLC today. In no particular order

    1. Oil , plugs , filters
    2. New rear break light switch
    3. Replaced a faulty headlamp connector
    4. Finally got around to fixing the blowing connector box on the exhaust . Needed to expand the pipe to fit the new gasket in.
    5. Replaced the starter cover gasket which started to leak oil last week.
    6. Tried to change the rear pads but the pins in caliper are seized. I will need to order new ones and cut the old ones out . No rear break for a week or so now . Pads knackered from lubricant trying to remove the pins.
    7. A wash

Dropping her into the shop on Thursday for a set of pilot road 4 rubbers and chain and sprockets. She will be good as new then.

A great day today to be out working on the bike.

No so much done something... but paid someone else to do :P

Got a new chain and sprocket sorted and a pr4 back tyre.
Grabbed a front tyre too but keeping it till I need it.

Ordered a new rear hugger since my chain wrecked the current one.
Also ordered a tail pack conversion base for my x30 bag.

Also had a gear indicator fit. The space on the dash between 2 buttons was a perfect fit for it.

At the weekend my missus managed to scratch one of the heat shields on my Diavel. Then yesterday in a fit of stupidity I managed to scratch one of the air scoops. So I have a pile of parts to go to the paintshop

Not bad for a three week old bike !!

    Gizza shot mister....lol.

Was on her bigger brother in McCallans last week brand new ZZR1400GTR, like a hotel on wheels. Great engine, adjustable screen on the fly and torque by the bucket load.
