Deeply sadening news from German wings flight 4U9252.

Sadly, it appears there are no survivors.

No distress call was made in the Unexplained 8 minute desent. Unusual reports. I'll be sure to follow the story.

Can we keep this thread to FR24 updates and keep any discussion of today's unfortunate news to the relevant thread please.

Edit: looking at a thread on the Flightradar forum - it looks to be military training

Cobham / FRA Falcons. Nice earner from military threat-simulation contracts. One of them was part of a QRA simulation over Prestwick last week that made a lot of people rather excited.

On the subject of plenty of dough, here's a Gulfstream 5 reg D-AUTO approaching Sligo as flight BMW51 of... well I'm sure you can guess who :)

    Hi All,

For the past week or two, the Flightradar24.com page refuses to show the map, any type of map, all I see is a grey screen. I do however see the peripheral stuff like the menu and the column on the left etc. I googled for any way to fix this but no luck. Has anybody encountered this before or know how to fix it ? I'm using the latest Firefox browser in Win7. I have the Flash plugin up to date also. Any help appreciated.
I also have the Opera browser installed and it shows the map correctly.

    Many thanks.

    H./

FR24 is fine in Firefox for me, but in the same period as you mention has started showing the grey map symptoms in the Android Premium app.

No amount of clearing / reinstalling will fix it, so it's basically useless.

I *assume* it's something to do with FR24's licensed use of the underlying Google maps. Have you tried changing your map view to Radar View instead?

Would that be a common practice for them ?

An A332 has been leased-out to Novair for the past two winters, as least.

It's a useful arrangement as the Scandinavians like to take their Sun holidays during the northern winter ( sensibly enough ) whilst Aer Lingus has softer demand for long-haul.

There's another few trips left in that lease - DAA is due back in Stockholm tomorrow. EI crews will have to get their suntans elsewhere after next week ;(

Nope. The flight crew are EI, the cabin crew are Swedish Novair crew. They all speak beautiful English.

They both have the exact same flight plan routing to the Breacon VOR. BHX is left at BCN VOR and BRS is right!

Today both have the same scheduled departure time also.

    By a whole 20mins!

Its the wrong callsign. It's saying EI3843 but should be EI3842 hence its confused.

    Delay?

Nothing showing on ORK departures as delayed.

Anything over 15 mins is classified as a delay, but people rarely notice until it hits over an hour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,980 ✭✭✭Growler!!!

Am I missing something? The Sceduled time of departure was 15.00, it pushed on time.

    Their other two aircraft ( a G5 and a Falcon 2000 ) are D-ABMW and D-BMVV

    http://www.airframes.org/fleet/bmw

But that's peanuts compared to Volkswagen's fleet of ten aircraft including an A319
