Abortion clinics, whore houses, hash bars, euthanasia, those crazy Japanese game-shows, and Gladiator fights from Ancient Rome.

OK. I was just going to say a Waitrose would be nice.

    Tim Horton.

If you went out and spent a few bob you'd know he's here already with his odd coffee.

More variety of fruit and veg, and more varieties of the fruit and veg already available.

Bollocks, you've got nothing like that. You have a government with politicians that can hardly run a country with a population of 4+ million let alone 80+ million.

    Tim Horton.

Seconded. I know they are in some Spar shops but the real thing would be great. I miss Canada where there was a Tim's on every corner.

Didn't we do something like that until the 80's?

Yup. As kids, we used to go around all the neighbours collecting their empty bottles and bring them back to the shop and collect the money.

how do you figure that, big bad EU overlords:rolleyes:

Maybe the system they had would be a better description, and you know, non sleeveen politicians

Fe*k Tim Hortons and all those chain stores, we have enough of them popping up all over the place already.

What we need is more street food of every kind. There should be food vans, and stalls, and vendors in every city and large town, selling everything from burritos and tacos to fried insects and German sausages.

    Mmmmmm, nyom nyom nyom...

Oh and a tapa served of some sort served with drinks and I don't mean snazzy ones they charge you for in fancy restaurants, I'm talking about what they serve here. A plate of crisps, a bit of stew or some cheese and bread sticks would provide soakage and maybe cut down on extreme drunkenness and it'd cost next to nothing.

With all the variety of foods available now why on earth would people be longing for Dunkin Donuts or Tim Hortons?

Shudder to think what the rest of the diet is like!

I'd love if there was a Dennys or an iHOP. It amazes me that we don't have anything like them here for a country that is pretty fond of breakfast foods.

Walmart. Especially the drugstore part. Okay they have major problems in the US with pharmaceutical drugs but I always stock up on those 500 paracetamol/ibprofen bottles for about 7 quid. That'd get you about 40 here.

Most of all The Cheesecake Factory. I'd be obese but damnit I'd be happy!

Getting back deposits for returning bottles like you do in Germany, Holland and a few other European countries. I think it's a great idea as bottles get re-used (obviously after cleaning in a factory) and it encourages recycling in society.

Plus it's handy to get a few euro back after returning a crate of bottles to the shops.

This. It works excellent in Germany

I would like to see some of those foreign bailiffs, you know the ones that actually kick people out of property they don't own and refuse to pay for.

Also those repo guys that kick ass and get stuff back that people can't be ar*ed paying for.

I don't care if they come with tv cameras or not.

Better still I would like to see a police force and judges that put actual criminals in jail and not some easy marks like the people who don't pay a tv license.

Now those are the services and businesses that would make a difference around here and not some food chain to help turn us into pale faced Texans.

I am not allowed discuss …
