To be honest, even playing on a very low level, I find having a manager screaming at you from the sidelines incredibly annoying and unhelpful. More often than not, unless they're telling you about a change of position or whatever it's just them venting frustration. I think the fact that LVG stays sitting on the sideline shows he is confident in his game plan and in the team he's selected. In saying that, on many occassions this season, too many of our players have looked lost on the pitch so a little bit of guidance from the sideline may not go astray.

You get a lot of stick on this thread, some of which is unwarranted. You're not doing yourself any favours by coming out with comments like this however.

sorry, its just so frustrating watching united this season, not even looking forward to tonights game as it will more than likely be another bore fest, but as long as we get the 3 points now that's all I care about as I have given up hope that we are going to play any sort of attractive football under van gaal this season

Cheer up. Mon we go for pints and watch the match and we can find you a lovely girl to cheer you up, I'll be sure not to find any girls with a black curly perm.

Quality player - but can be a dirty cheat too.

Had to admire him for how he reacted to the incident with the banana - class.

I disagree with that. Football is an odd sport in that it rewards skill over attitude and athletic ability a lot more than most ball games, so bollocking, shouty leadership is useful for keeping the players focused who would otherwise lack the specific type of self discipline required. But the manager is not necessarily the best placed to do that while the team are on the pitch.

I know we arn't talking the same level, but I was always able to kinda "fob" off my manager or coach when they were hurtling stuff at me from the sidelines, and that was in a setting with no excuse for not hearing.

Whereas we had a CM who when he let roar you took head of it and he lead by example.

I guess thats where all the cries come from with regards "leaders" on the pitch, especially when pundits and commentators speak about Arsenal, and us sometimes to an extent. Not so much roaring or shouting, but someone intelligent enough to read the game and know when certain things need to happen, without the manager having to grab a megaphone.

I notice the squad being a lot more verbal in recent months. De Gea becoming a lot more assured lashing lads out of it, Rooney loosing his rag every so often, Smalling being more "da ****" with runners coming onto them etc.

Herrera seems to be a bit of a vocal presence as well. He was dishing out the tongue lashings against Swansea.

He was "on the way out" this year, with Barca singing a new RB that was supposed to be integrated into the team. He was dire in a few early outings, and Alvez has simply kept his spot since, with some pretty powerful performances.

I'd have a concern though about him "doing a Maicon". Exceptional player but is the wrong side of 30 and the collapse is dramatic. Some slides of form are gradual, but some are dramatic. We had enough first had experience with Vidic, Ferdinand and Evra to be cautious about grabbing 30 odd year old defenders.

The extra 5 seconds it took for you to figure that out must have been a killer.

Wow it certainly has been lots of fun in here today. While United play has been frustrating this season I cant say it has been boring for me.
Newcastle are a strange tea they have wide levels in how they perform on the day but not sure why as I dont watch much of them.

Looking forward to the game as always, unlike last season.

In our last 10 games Lecister and Qpr the only ones we have one really comfortably so lets hope for more of the same even though we are away.

Sadly looks like LVG doesn't fancy him as our RB. That and injury hasn't really helped him this year.

It's bizarre though that he's not even making the bench though, even if Van Gaal doesn't fancy him. It's probably the weakest position for cover, personnel wise.

No idea why he isnt starting but LVG doesnt seem to put full backs on the bench when he has other optiions. Fair to say he is gone in summer I'd imagine. There were some small signs of improvement from Toni V last day so hopefullt that progression continues. (not massive just some :D)

Well going by the comments LVG made about McNair he see's him as the future RB. Now why he isn't playing more is another question. Valencia is doing an ok job but I really think he's just very average in the position and offers nothing going forward compared to Raf.

YES my boy Fellaini up top.

I look forward to reading all the nonsense posts about him. We can separate the Moyes from the men then

    So....
    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Evans Rojo
    Blind Herrera
    DiMaria Fellaini Young
    Rooney

    ?

Could switch between a 4231 and a 433 quite easily...
