Our away form has been dreadful this season so no away game is a given.
At this stage of the season all I am worried about is getting enough points to finish in the top four.

The rest of your post is the usual "end of the world" stuff that has become both tiresome and predictable in equal measures.

Sorry, I simply prefer not to stick my head in the sand.

This away game is a given, I have zero doubt whatsoever about that. Dropping points tonight would be a disgrace but it simply won't happen.

Just a word of warning. Less than three points tonight and I'm getting up, grabbing my stuff, and plonking myself on the negativity couch with all the others.

If it's not three points tonight, United will be 5th and with Southampton back to one point behind. I wouldn't be able for it.

If we lose I'm taking my positivity chair elsewhere as this place will be unbearable with the absolute mouth scutter.

People take it way too seriously.

Who is sticking their head in the sand? Who is going to use a victory tonight to say that there is nothing wrong, as you said will happen? I cant remember any poster on here this season who has said everything is fine?

Your habit of exaggerating or plain making stuff up is extremely frustrating to read and respond to, especially when in the middle of all your hysterical posting you make some good points.

We shall see won't we. After our two victories over Sunderland and Newcastle I fully expect to see the actual detail of the performances ignored in favour of the positivity couch.

As to the remainder of your post, if you think my posting is hysterical you are free to use the ignore function.

2 nil win tonight i think similar match to Saturday look good in small spurts and it'll be too slow and boring in others

Hope to christ we play with some width tonight. Young needs to start imo. Also I think if we play with width falcao will poach a goal if he has some crosses to look alive and gamble for. ADM to start also , our out of form stars need confidence.

Newcastle are a terrible team in terrible form, we should and will beat them easily. The result will also mean absolutely nothing to the wider issue of our poor performances, though it will be used to prove that everything is fine at the club and we have nothing to worry about.

Sunderland are a total garbage team and it took a penalty in the second half to break through.

With like 10/11 games left, I'm of the opinion we wont "turn a corner" and we are going to struggle over the line. Still confident off a top 4 finish, but its going to be a total grind.

I've this weird confidence Van Gaal knows what to do against the big teams, but is still figuring out how to play against the smaller teams were we dominate possesion and they sit back.

As much as it frustrates me, it's not going to be a walk in the park, but we should still get the result. Any dropped points outside of Arsenal,Chelsea and City I think we can kiss top 4 good by.

That means beating Newcastle, Spurs and then Liverpool, putting us on a four game winning run to take into the final stretch.

That was a lego movie reference :o

A lot can happen in 3 weeks. Lets worry about tonight first.

Like everyone else I expect 3 points, but it will be a gritty hard fought win and 2-0 is the absolute best we can hope for. It's hard for me to see the 5-0 thrashing people think we're owed by the team.

    Strong feeling they won't.

The burden is on them to attack and push forward, and will allow us play on the break but also provide the likes of Rooney, Di Maria and Falcao to stretch their legs and get into space.

I felt really positive about the Chelsea,City and Arsenal performances. I think we could, under the cosh, soak some pressure, and we have one of the best keepers in the world.

Liverpool have improved second half of the season no doubt, and as a team they really are performing well. But regardless of what form they are in, I'd trust Van Gaal to have a good plan for the big games, and even more confidence he would know how to exploit a back three :D

Might have a skewered memory but I think we have been exceptional in dealing with the space between Midfield and Defense and we do well doing man marking jobs. Fellaini was excellent snuffing out Fabregas and between Carrick and Blind I think they are intelligent enough to know how to deal with the drift of Coutinho and Sterling.

City's midfield are a shambles defensively and cause the eager beaver Kompany to frequently step up and he get's slaughtered. Deal with that gap against Liverpool and we will be doing well, exploit it against City and we will do well there too.

No surprise there. Just hasn't performed to the levels he was coupled with the sort of game we are playing at the moment doesn't suit.

Still havn't got around to seeing this Dybala fell play a game, but Lukaku or Vietto would be instantly more appealing to me.

But fast attacking football on the break is something we have not been doing, why do you think we are going to turn it on against Liverpool?

It's that little more instinctive and immediate. We have struggled when opposing teams are sitting back, playing lateral paces but no movement ahead to create space for intricute 1-2's or the likes.

Obviously its ridiculous to try predict how a game in like 2-3 weeks is going to pan out, but I can see Liverpool being aggressive and pressing and probably dominating possesion, so when we do nick the ball, the instinct will be break.

We havn't been doing it because most teams sit off us deep, and let us tap it around as they just get compact and we struggle.

I don't think the players will be thinking too hard about what to do if the ball breaks to them, and there is 50 yards of space to run into.

I know it an unpopular opinion among fans as especially this forum, but fast attacking football isn't the only way to win matches. Everyone is a fan of fast football. That's what we are used to.

I'll put the emphasis on winning matches before you try and make an argument that I think the performances have been good.

I think the opposite, for quite a while now our players have been stilted in possession and have demonstrated a reluctance to surge forward, in fact, almost a fear of breaking forward. That won't change in one game, there will be space there to exploit but I can't see us exploiting it.

Thats not to say I don't think we will win, I can easily see us winning that game, just not in any swashbuckling fashion.

Just got sick a little thinking of United signing Lukaku.

Hopefully some sort of reduced deal can be done for Falcao, it's more the system than him. He'll tear it up wherever he goes which will destroy me.

Newcastle managed to beat Chelsea 2-1 in December when they were in a horrible run of form, with it being the only game they won in a string of 7 matches.

I would be seriously expecting us to put them to the sword but this season with our away form it is very hard to be confident. I would not be at all surprised if we came away from St James' Park with a score draw.

If we do not win the game it will be a massive blow to our top 4 hopes, especially considering our next 8 games have us playing Arsenal(FA Cup) Spurs, Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Everton.

We were terrible against Arsenal, we had only one shot on target and scored 2 goals IIRC. Our passing, movement, defending all were atrocious on that day and still can't believe how we got 6 points against Arsenal and Southampton away.

its real moyes stuff though isn't it, we will stop them playing instead of letting them worry about di maria, falcao, rooney and all of our attacking players.

We were playing rubbish against sunderland Saturday and when it was 0-0 you could see fellaini warming up and we got the peno thankfully which meant sunderland had to play a bit, but just before that peno when it was 0-0 we were bring on fellaini to hit high balls up into the box and see what happens. Liverpool are probably playing the best football in the league right now, fast, energetic, with purpose. Henderson will have a field day against our slow tempo midfield, cant see it any other way (and I think they will get top 4 as well :()

Real Fergie stuff I suppose, putting Welbeck on Xabi Alonso to stop them playing at the source of their attacks.

Really depressing when you think of it, we will stop them playing instead of letting them worry about Nani, RvP and Rooney and all of our attacking players

Instructions that many people have said players can't hear anyway in a noisy stadium.

It has been explained to you a few times though so I think its probably best if you just stop being hung up on whether you like his demeanor on the sidelines, it doesn't really matter.

What's the point in a manager telling a player to concentrate or do something that's not a change to tactics.

They are well drilled in tactics and know the gameplay. They aren't idiots.

Shouting at a professional adult is treating him like an idiot.

They know they played a bad pass, what's the point in getting up and shouting at them. It's retarded.

yea 1 pass fair enough, some games you see players pass the ball back to the keeper 5 or 6 times. Cant remember the game, maybe Swansea away, de gea had more touches in open play that both falcao and van persie combined!!
