    Much obliged. ;)

Oh. It's the real update for the screenshots for everybody. I forgot I was previewing the yoke a month in advance.. Thanks anyway :o

Yup, screenshots and friends stuff, as well as bug fixes.

It's probably the stable version of the update preview many of us have at the moment.

Ah, I keep forgetting to add in which branch I'm talking about. The update I'm talking about is on the preview branch, and it's just a bugfix/bug finding update.

    Patch notes are:
Changes to help further investigate issues reported by Preview members

So, really, nothing at all significant.

For those people who are suffering from huge downloads, perhaps you should turn on the auto-update function? If you miss one of the updates, then you have to download the entire OS again, hence the 2GB. If you kept up to date with them, the updates were a much more managable ~250 MB and 64 MB.

Even if you keep up you still need to take the 2gb patch. If you want to save bandwidth you should turn off auto-update and only pull down updates when you wish.

That's incorrect. I got the size wrong originally, but the patch that was released yesterday/today was 261Mb.

If you miss an update there's a 2Gb roll-up patch. Gamer Bhoy 89 probably missed the update that came out on the 1st of March, meaning he gets the full 2GB.

The March preview hasn't been released to non-preview yet, and won't until they figure out what is causing the problems that they're seeing.

Its not incorrect. The 2gb patch isnt a roll up patch. Even if you gather every single patch until the monthly release you will still have to take the 2gb rc patch when its made mandatory.

That depends on the update. The February patch, 1502 2200 was only 253Mb. When the patch was released to the public a few days later, they said this to the people on preview:
    Microsoft wrote:
    Q. Will we receive another 1502 update to bring us to the same level that the general public will be at?
    A. No, the build you are now on is the same one that is being rolled out to the general public.

The preview patch that I'm talking about now, the one just released, isn't a 2Gb patch, it's a 261Mb patch.

People on non-retail releases are still subject to version rules i.e builds are made mandatory and must to taken otherwise you are forced off-line. 1502 followed the same rules as all the previous releases and also released a full patch, which people on the public preview group took.

As I said before even if you take the incremental updates you will still need the retail release as soon as it goes mandatory - it is not possible to skip it and stay online.

edit: not sure what patch you are referring to when you say 1502 2200, a lot of the 1502 patches are rolled at 2200.

I'm talking about xb_rel_1502.150202-2200. This was released on the 3rd of February to the preview channel, and weighed in at 258Mb. That version was later pushed out to the retail channel, and those on the preview channel did not have to download a 2Gb update.

You can check the threads here and here on the Xbox Preview forums if you want.

Microsoft also said this to the preview people, they said something similar for the November update too:
We’re happy to announce that the Xbox One February Update has been released to the general public! You don’t need to take any action – the most recent update preview you have (xb_rel_1502.150202-2200) is the one that will be released, so you are all set.

If you get every update, then you don't need the 2Gb patch, as you've already got that version.

If on the other hand, you miss a patch, then you will get a 2Gb patch.

    *********************************

After saying all that, I will admit that I don't know what size the download is if you are on the retail channel, that could be 2Gb for all I know.

I am not part of preview and have no access to those forums, i am on an earlier build group but the same rules apply.

If the retail was 258 in Feb then everyone has to take it. Even if you pulled down 31 updates before it and then that release was flagged as mandatory retail then you have to take it, no matter what you have had previously - no exceptions, none, zero, nadda. Nothing you have posted contradicts what I have said - most monthlies are 2gb but that is not a requirement, they can be any size. Most rolling builds are 250-260 GB but i have often seen multiple 2gb updates per week.

If a build gets flighted that is then confirmed retail you don't need to take it as you already have it. Most of the time though you will see a build (full or not) get pushed to beta/preview that does not end up as the RTW build and everyone again needs to pull down the final retail.

So again, pulling down incremental updates does not mean you can skip the final monthly retail build as it becomes mandatory. The only time you do not have to pull down the retail build is if you already have it, though the norm for the last like 16 iterations is that the final retail build has not been one that was sent out to public preview.

Retail builds are more often than not 2GB.

    Well, if you say so.

The only time that I've seen a 2Gb update is if I've missed a previous update, and that is the reason giving by reps on the preview forums as well. I can't speak to anything outside of the preview program though.

Thanks for confirming the 2Gb retail size though, I haven't been on retail for quite some time now.

I'd much prefer i wasn't so familiar with the system but I have to take down multiple updates on multiple systems and i see 2gb updates on a regular basis near retail release - i;d have all my boxes set to instant on and manually check daily for updates.

New preview update out, just bug fixes again. It's 255Mb in size.
    • Fixed an issue with Upload Studio were some clips did not appear.
    • The TV Tuner should now respect when the 50Hz setting is enabled.
    • Telemetry fixes to help pinpoint certain types of crashes users are experiencing.

I'd imagine so. Head to Settings/System to see if 'Update Console' is highlighted or not.

Yeah, it went up last night, so I'd assume so.

Well my xbox bandwidth usage tells me it downloaded 297.84 MB between 3 & 4 am. I'd imagine that's it so :P

Nice one, I was just worried I'd have another update to download after work as I only need to hop on for 5 minutes to do something Destiny related before I head off for the weekend. :)

    Done.

I'd forgotten all about this..... I woke up to a message this morning with an invite! Only took 6 months....

Does it normally take long between getting the invite and having the console registered?

Pretty sure it could be anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

Go into Settings > System to see if you've got an update available.

Just noticed a message from live with a code for something called Overdog?

    www .overdog .com

    Sounds pretty cool

Yeah, I tried out that Overdog app, it's a friend finding service more than anything. Seems pretty useful, profile building come do with some work though, and it seemed to suggest a load of American people for me.

It also had a load of errors while I was using it, nothing that really broke it, but it was annoying.

You can check by just looking at the build number in settings>system>console info. Your build will be something like 6.2.12XXX.X (xb_rel_1503.150309-2200) fre. The 1503.150309-2200 is the date the build was rolled: 1503 = 2015 march build (the next release will be 1504), the 150309-2200 means it was rolled at 10pm on the 9th of march, 2015.

The Windows 10 Xbox App has been updated, and is starting to include some Smartglass features.

    These include:
    OneGuide support
    GameDVR support
    Control Xbox through app

    Still waiting on streaming though.

    See here.

Also, just got invited into the Smite Alpha, anyone else?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,126 ✭✭✭✭calex71

Got a smite invite too, not sure if I'll bother with it though.

Apparently the voice studio app has started to include some "Hey Cortana" phrases. Seems like Cortana is coming soon.
