    Has anyone tried this yet?

I know when you double-tap the xbox button it captures the screenshot.
But, when you say "Xbox, take a screenshot" surely it might have missed the moment?

Double tapping the Xbox button will pause the game, and allow you to take a screenshot by pressing "Y". Works grand, takes a screenshot of the game, and not of the pause menu. At least, that's how it worked on Halo.

Using the kinect is grand as well, obviously you can miss the action as you're speaking, but at least it's an option.

Was hoping to demonstrate this with a few screenshots, but alas, sharing is not yet active, so all you can do with your screenshots is set them as your background.

It's a 253 MB download, by the way.

would have at least expected a save to one drive option surely?

It's all coming apparently, but just not in this update. Will probably be next week before it rolls out.

As I subscribe to Office365, I get infinite Onedrive storage, so that's the first place I was going to share it to. Hopefully they add the ability to upload to it automatically.

It was originally supposed to pull the shot from the point where you start speaking.

How do you even view the screenshot?

I took the screenshot and could see it was saved in Upload but I can't expand the thumbnail and there is 0 share options. I am disappointed to see you can't take a screenshot the OS, only a game.

In Upload, go to "My Captures", then select whichever screenshot you want, should load up automatically.

The Share options is a known limitation, it was in the release notes.

Yeah, I would have liked to be able to screenshot the OS as well, might throw that into the "report a problem" section.

There is a suggest a feature function there in the app , likely already there and the more that make it the better chance it has I'd say.

New update out, about 250 Mb in size.

    • Sharing Screenshots to OneDrive. You can now share screenshots direct to OneDrive from the Share menu in the Upload app.
    • Enhanced Icons in the Party chat app. We’ve added new icons to the Party Chat app enhance the experience. Quests now up for you to try these icons!

And here's a screenshot from my uploaded to OneDrive, took about ten seconds to upload. Some weirdness around new screenshots though, I can't really do anything with them until I quit out of the game, other wise they don't save and the share option doesn't appear. Older screenshots are fine though.

New update lets you make videos and include screen shots in them, also adjusted the RGB output on saved images, I found mine a little on the dark side before.

Voice command for screen shot is now "Xbox, take a screenshot"

Should I be able to take screenshots with no Kinect? Like double tap the X butting still only gives the option to record. No option to take screenshot.

I have just given myself a slap... Monday morning brain fart. For some reason I thought this screenshot feature came in the last OS release...

It's going to be in this months update once it's done with beta. So should be for all in a couple of weeks.

It only works in games also. It won't give you the option to take a screenshot any were else on the system.

You'll see it when the update is released. I was hoping it would allow screenshots of the dashboard so people could create tutorials and share their layout (background image/colour)

The newest update on preview should also sort out some issues with people trying to use screenshots that were too large. It's incredible that Microsoft missed the fact that their new screenshot feature would create images too large to use as the background, but then that's what the preview is for I guess.

Full change list for the update today:
    • Changed RGB Levels for Screenshots: A change to output screenshots in RGB Full for improved clarity when viewed on a PC.
    • Increased background image maximum size. The maximum size for background images on your dashboard has been increased to 5MB. This change will eliminate some errors users saw when attempting to set screenshots as backgrounds.

Also, in other Xbox news coming down the line, Microsoft were demonstrating the new Windows 10 universal apps on Xbox for the first time today. See the verge here. Interestingly, Microsoft are allowing either native or Web apps, which should mean a much greater take up.

The obvious down side is that Web Apps aren't as good as native apps, but still, I think it's good news, the more people that are using the Xbox platform, the better for us in the long run I think.

Got a message on live about a 360 preview dashboard overnight.

Not much info on it yet http://majornelson.com/2015/03/02/xbox-360-preview-program/

Would be nice if they managed to bring the universal apps to xbox 360.

As far as I know, it's going to be code once and then build for each platform, meaning that windows 10 universal apps is an actual possibility. Interesting.

I think it's strange they are doing such a program for the 360 now. MS don't even have anymore first party titles planned for the console, why put forward such resources.

They're going to try to do this for two reasons, probably.

    1. Help transfer existing 360 owners to Xbox One.
    2. The Xbox 360 will likely still have a long life as a media client (think apple TV / Roku kind of thing) and they could sell it on a real budget price and target that market.

This one is pure speculation, but could you picture it if they enable Xbox one -> Xbox 360 streaming (similar to Xbox One -> Windows 10 PC)? This would mean that you could sell a lot of Xbox 360s and target the PlayStation TV (Vita TV) market too.

I have a feeling that they are going to roll out universal apps to the 360. From a developers point of view, developing a universal media based app for 80 million consoles (and however many windows 10 devices) is much more appealing than developing a universal media based app for 10 million consoles (and however many windows 10 devices).

As Fingleberries said, the 360 is essentially a netflix player these days (and has been since 2010). Why not use these consoles to help bring on app developers

They're also allowing 360 users to build up their XB1 library for when they make the switch too. As in claim all the Games with Gold for ONE from their 360. Then download them on the XB1 whenever they get one.

I doubt we'll see universal apps on the xbox 360. The XB1 unlike the 360 actually has Windows 8.1 operating system.

New Xbox One update, 64Mb, absolutely nothing new in it, it's all back end apparently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,636 ✭✭✭Gamer Bhoy 89

Haven't turned my Xbox on since last week so I was presented with a 2GB update. Lovely!

Does anybody know what has been updated since? Nobody else around the internet seems to know..

(The last update I got was for the ability to upload screenshots to OneDrive)

It's probably the stable version of the update preview many of us have at the moment.

The 2gb update is the monthly update and the features were documented weeks before release -http://majornelson.com/2015/02/18/xbox-one-march-preview-update-screenshots-suggested-friends-now-available-preview/
