    Djouce trail run 28 Feb/ 1 March

A bunch of boardsies are planning a trail run in Djouce on either Saturday 28 Feb or Sunday 1 March.

The first outing is planned as an easy and social outing, with more strenuous sessions planned for future outings. Bring a flask and more importantly, some form of cake :)

    Any takers?

:D If you start posting pics of them and they're lovely and pink/purple, you'll have to move to Dubgal's log!

I'm in! Preference for the Sunday but can do Saturday if some kind soul could pick me up at a DART station/side of the road as unlikely to have the car.

I'm sure we could car pool from D3. I was planning to drive.

Can't make that weekend but would definitely be interested in any future meets. I've been wanting to do some trail running but not brave enough to go out on my own.

I may be able to do Sunday and I'll be driving from Dun Laoghaire. Just hope your definition of easy is the same as mine...

You have just entered the deciding vote :) Sunday it is trail peeps. Don't worry about pace for this one, it will be at the pace of the slowest so bring cameras etc and enjoy the views.

Not sure how long it will take to get there, about an hour? Maybe 10:30 to allow for any delays or getting lost!

I dont check boards for a few days and I come back on and there has been a whole event organising committee formed! I have to admit I had to google Djouce to see where it was, but I would be interested too, as long as people are aware I am very slow :-)

:D I'm a cross border entrant (will be driving from Dunboyne - actually that's two borders I'll have to cross!) 10.30 sounds good to me. Sorry if you said this already but have we a meeting point set?

Nothing set yet. I can see if I can dig up a link to the car park and a map of the route from the IMRA site ? Maybe we could meet somewhere that's easy to find(such as glencornac inn on n11) and carpool from there ?

Dubgal hopefully this is the same route you had in mind ??

So, 10:30 it is and yes BG, pretty sure that's the same route I had in mind. I can't remember the name of the car park tho. It's the first of the three, isn't it? If I remember right, the second two are no longer open.

In future runs, there's a nice way up to Djouce through the woods from the third car park (just to give you food for thought :D )

So we're not going up Djouce? I misread the title and the original post. I saw the name Djouce and automatically assumed we would climb it. If it's this route (in red on the map at the bottom) it looks a little flatter thankfully...:P

Yup, it's the first one. Think is just called Djouce Woods car park ?

Didn't know that, sounds good. Lots of options around there including stretches of the Wicklow Way. Devil's Glen is amazing but a bit further out. Glen of the Downs another possibility ?

This is the planned route for the first trail outing. So it's Djouce Woods rather than the mountain itself. It's approx 8K (5 miles) with only 120m of climb so is very much an intro to trail running for people who are interested in trying it out and will be social in nature. As Dubgal said, future runs may well include a climb of Djouce, but let's not scare anyone away just yet :D

Even this is looking like quite a girlie event I was still going to join in, but it looks like there's no room left in the car. :)
