It's a problem when you change your evaluation of the squad to the opposite of what it was before. It makes it look like you aren't thinking clearly and it completely undermines your argument about Moyes.

I don't think it was as drastic as Blatter was making out. I'd be confident that if I went back to posts from last year early on I'd be lambasting Evra, Vidic and Ferdinand. If I'm not mistaken I took serious flack for indicating Vidic was a serious concern.

I was critical of the squad that won the league, and maintained that critique. I felt that maybe with a regime change in Chelsea, City and ourselves, we would be best equipped having a title winning squad and a manager experienced in the league for however long.

I can't remember the specifics, but I don't think it's as drastic as Blatter initially made out. I'm pretty sure one of my main arguements in debates for people indicating Moyes had taken a title winning squad and make them muck, is that they were already on the slide and them winning the title at a canter was more an indication of how bad City and Chelsea were, rather then us being so good.

We can delve into searching past posts if we want, but I think my feelings are still relevant. I feel more frustration and anger at this current squad then Moyes, as there is such overwhelming talent in our current team that is not being utilised effectively.

It seems so obvious to many that Rooney in midfield is causing the guts of the problems. At what point do we worry if Van Gaal doesn't even "try" change it a little.

Would Preston maybe be a good game to put Rooney up top with one of RVP and Falcao, and then use Herrera and Mata in that diamond?

    Blind

    Herrera
    di Maria

    Mata

    Rooney
    Falcao

That's what I've been longing to see anyway. I think Valencia has been ok in fairness, wouldn't be rushing to drop him. He gives a good account to himself and isn't a stranger to a rough tackle.

I don't know the stats off hand, but I'd be surprised to find out Mata on paper hasn't got a really good return for the team thus far.

It's not even a mad experimental side or change to tac. It should be more then capable of creating chances. I could maybe see the logic in Fellaini in ahead of Herrera at present, but Rooney HAS to come out of that midfield.

It does seem so blatantly obvious though. Rooney up front and pair him with RVP or Falcao, Mata tip of the diamond, Di Maria to the left and Herrera/Fellaini to the right. Blind at the base.

Yep, that's it. Everyone in their best positions and let the talent shine through. If he is so obsessed that we need pace in attack, then start Wilson over Falcao and let him drag players out of position.

I'd say we will see a lot of formations and the likes posted here today and tomorrow. Loads of them will make sense, then Wednesday will see Rooney in midfield and I'll get the ****ing rage on me.

yes defending wise I though Valencia did well yesterday, won lots of tackles but its his attacking/"crossing" that lets him down.

it would make you wonder what giggs is offering van gaal at the moment if the two of them cannot see what every single fans sees wrong with the team at the minute

What I like about that is that Herrera can easily drop deeper when needed to develop play and Di Maria can take the ball from deep and bring it 40 yards. There's a ton of versatility in those four playing those positions.

    It makes it less predictable.

I would love to see the % of 50/50s and ariel duels on by both sides yesterday. We seemed to be second to everything.

I'd drop Van Persie and start Rooney up top vs Burnley. I'd also drop Januzaj to the bench and start two of Mata/Fellaini/Herrera.

It was very obvious that it's very very low and it's not something I'm surprised of with Di Maria, Januzaj, Blind and Rooney in the midfield. Add Herrera to the midfield the % just shoots up and with Fellaini it's even better.

Herrera looks lightweight but he is the best midfielder in our squad when it comes to fighting for every loose ball. He just never gives up and keeps on challenging to win the ball.

Ok I've said this before, and I'll continue to say it until the boy proves me wrong, but holy devine jaysus what has Adnan shown this season to warrant a starting spot. He frustrates me no end. Receives the ball, slows the tempo down, throws a step over, proceeds to hit the first defender on the cross. We get enough of that shíte from Valencia. Send him out on loan ta fúck.

Januzaj needs games to improve but not as a starter in the XI. To be honest, the decision not to send him on loan is baffling tbh.

We don't need to go searching old posts. You are saying yourself, in the bolded sentence, that you thought United had a chance of winning the league. There's no way you could have thought that if you really believed that United had a rubbish squad.

Literally every time Januzaj gets the ball he slows to a walk before trying to take on his man. An incredibly annoying player to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,690 ✭✭✭ElChe32

It's insane. It's all well and good past and present managers and ex-players saying "he's something special, we see it in training" but when the lad gets his chance in the team and shows little more than 3 yard passing and the odd step over when you've got Herrera/Mata even facking Ashley Young with more guile and creativity it frustrates me beyond belief. The boy isn't ready, and this isn't the season to be experimenting in the hopes he comes good. We have better players sitting on the bench.
    /rant over.

Did I read somewhere that Rooney had 2 touches in the opposition half over the 90 minutes or was it a bad dream?

one of the things that annoyed me the most was how long it took for a sub to happen when it was clear something needed changing in the team. how fellani didnt come on earlier and then wilson/mata or herrara not to come on at all was just not good.

Burnley will fancy their chances against us Wednesday, we could be 6th before that game kicks off, something needs to change

It's time to drop one of the unholy trinity Van Persie, Falcao and Rooney and play the other two up front.

Rooney should play as striker IMO. He has scored 5 and 3 assists in 9 games as striker IIRC the stats.

Does LVG get any credit for making the switch, changing tack and bringing in Fellaini for Januzaj, and salvaging a draw ?

Anyways, I'd give him a pass for this first season.

We're still in with a good shot of Top 4, which was the aim , and maybe FA Cup.

He has removed so much deadwood from the squad, it's been fantastic, and added so much quality to the squad.

Also very pleased to see his faith in the youth, with Wilson, McNair, Blackett all getting game time, as well as Shaw and Januzaj

I like the way he says straight out that yesterday want good enough in the first half, not winning any second balls.
Moyes would have just said we'll keep trying , keep hoping etc.

I think it has to be one of Falcao and RvP to be dropped. Rooney while not the fastest in the world still has a fair bit of pace, there is very little with the other 2.

Ronney playing 90mins in midfield and Di Maria still on the pitch for 90mins was wrong imo

I thought it was going to work out for falcao at this stage in the season when he's fit and starting most games but it just isn't. He started off making good runs but it was people like valencia and young who couldn't supply him with good enough balls. But yesterday i noticed he wasn't even making runs and at times was looking to recieve the ball with his back at goal which is the worst possible scenario for him to be in as his ball control isn't fantastic and other teams know that if you can just get 2 players to run at each united player with there back at goal they will just end up passing the ball back.

I hope LVG changes things up and gets us to play more pacey and fluid football.

BTW, what the actual f**k was wrong with di maria yesterday. He gave away possession countless amount of times. His runs would end up with him getting tackled. His crosses were horrendous and couldn't beat first man. LVG needs to start getting the best out of these players if he is going to be so adamant and stubborn with his system

Had some mental dream last night were Van Gaal listed all his summer targets :pac: Berahino and Kane were on there

Is LVG under pressure to play Falcao in order to assess whether to sign him? And does his "loyalty" to RVP mean that he won't drop him?

I may eat these words a year or two down the line, but Kane makes me think:

Would you rather he waited up top for a ball that wasn't going to be played, or just fired at him at chest or head height?
