Good old heavy snow showers in Newry. Good few cms on the ground, roads covered etc...near white out conditions on the Ravensdale Pass over the mountain and into the town. About to start again now good beefy showers. Seem to have plenty of welly left in them when they arrive.

Turned my back for a minute and it was heavier and beginning to stick, near roundwood. Easing off as I type though...

There was a light shower since but that's about it. Looking at the forecast for tonight it looks like we'll miss out on anything substantial.

Am waiting on a bus at Custom HSE. Only thing I saw falling here all day was a brief rain shower 10 mins ago. Otherwise a cold raw day.

Sleety rain in East Meath (coast) just now. Temp dropped from 3 to 1.5 degrees in the past 20 minutes. Place is now drenched, but the showers seem to be fairly heavy so if it continues to cool off after dark I'd be hopeful. #nightforthelamppost

Here, in and around Sligo town this day so far has just been one thing only ...downright nasty !

We've had no shortage of violent squalls (about one every half hour) with every sort of wintery precip that takes your fancy, really heavy too. Nothing ever stuck. Even on the mountains (400 - 600 m) the white tops began to thaw again immediately and were brown again before the next squall came.

On the whole a really messy, very windy, very uncomfortable day ...the kind of "winter" weather I could easily do without.
