Haven't posted here n a while but have been tipping away. Done a parkrun in ballina on the 20 of December. I was a bit under the weather for it ( dying after a work do ) . Ran it in 26.04. Did a charity 5k on Stephens day 24.56. Gonna kick of a 10k training plan asap. Maybe tomorrow if the mood takes me.
    New year's resolutions---
    (1) Lose approx a stone in weight. Lose the gut and get down to the weight I was earlier this year
    (2) run a sub 23.00 5k
    (3) run a sub 47.00 10k
    (4) stay injury free.
    (5) post here on a regular basis.
    (6) get the oh out running again. She's a better runner than I am.

Was it the Knockmore or Ardagh 5 km? I had a similar experience at the park run on the same day! . Is your injury completely healed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 966 ✭✭✭john mayo 10

Knockmore 5k Sam. Very cold day. Ran the first k in 4.23. Got carried away at the start.Too fast for me at the moment. Maybe before injury. Took me until the 3.5k mark to recover. Ran on well from there and ran last k in 4.55. Injuryed knee is a lot better. No pain when I run. I keep it strapped for support.

Great to hear the knee is holding up and without the strapping, a good sign indeed.
Keep things going now keep an eye on it, hopefully that injury will be a thing of the past :)

hopefully it is a thing of the past. Bought a pair of asics kayano 20 s this week. Wore them today. Serious support in them. They probably helped the inpact on the knee too.

    Sat 24th jan
Spent about an hour splitting firewood ( serious upperbody workout ) and done a 20 min core workout afterwards. LSR planned for the morning. I have lost about half a stone in weight in the last 2 weeks. Just watching what im eating and as much exercise as possible. ðŸ˜႒

Its been a while since i ran this distance. Found the last few k tough but i stuck to it. Had 2 lads running with me. I used to be able to beat them easily but i was left sitting with 2k to go. Bit of work to be done.

Read the first 2 pages and seems interesting. Haven't had time yet to read on your progression and what you do now compared to the start.

Might start my own thread for extra motivation!

I would seriously advise you to start a log. Great way to keep yourself motivated. Its not all plain sailing though. I was flying early last year. Ran a sub 45 10k. I was fitter than i ever was. Then i injured my right knee. Missed out on 4 months running. Started back before xmas. Im slowly getting back to where is was. It will take time. Whats your story

I'm a 24 year old who isn't unfit or unhealthy. Just don't get to play football as much anymore so I started running last July. Started off just wanting to do 1 mile runs and do time trials and keep progressing in my times. Eventually upped to 1.5. Now I do 3 miles and the odd 5. My plan is to do an average of a mile a day per month. January is 31 days so I'll do 31 miles. Most I ran in a month since recording my runs is like 18. Maybe I should copy that for my first log post lol.
Good to hear your knee is ok again
