Focusing on 10k this year with a few 5ks threw in aswell. PB for 10k this this year is 47.50. PB last year was 44.56 for 10k but missed 6 months after that with tendonittis in right knee. Injury is nearly gone now.

Just an update on where I am. Had to cut back on running for a while because of lack of time. Summertime is hectic ( farming , kids, etc ). Back running again with 2 weeks averaging 3 5k runs a week. I missed posting here so I hope to be able to keep this log more active. Enjoying the running

    Update
I missed a lot of running over the last few months. Wife is due in 2 weeks and she's had a tough pregnancy. Father in- law isn't well either so it's being a tough few months between hospitals and doctors. I still got out maybe once a week for a run. Started back properly 3 weeks ago. I have managed 3 runs a week consisting of some speed work, a 6k hill/ flat session and an easy session. I have dropped one of these the last 2 weeks and done a local parkrun.
    28.50
    26.40
Times are improving so I hope I can keep it up now.

    Mon 30th Nov
    6k easy. No time recorded

Good to see you back, John. Best of luck to you and your wife on the arrival.

39 is young. I started running g at 39, just starting to get the hang of it now.

Re parkrun in the morning, the forecast is horrendous. Westport and Castlebar are cancelled, Balina will call it in the morning. Check before you go.

    How's things with you snailsong?
    Sunday 6th Dec
    7k easy
Longest run in months. Kept the pace the same throughout. Average pace 6.01/k.
Didn't do parkrun y/day. Waited on an update on Facebook. Nothing was posted and I heard afterwards it went ahead. Bad decision in the end as only 13 runners showed up

I was in your part of the world today for the Belleek 10k. Delighted to squeeze in under 40, 39:51. It was such a lovely day.

Hard to say if they were right or wrong to go ahead with the parkrun. I saw the picture of the 13 and they seemed pretty happy with themselves. I was down to do RD in Westport. We reluctantly decided to cancel on Friday evening in order to give people notice. As it turned out it was just about possible to run but I doubt many would have shown up.

45secs in space of two weeks is a nice bit of progress, fair play.

    Wed 30th Dec
    3 mile jog

    Sat 2nd Jan
    Parkrun
    27.**
A real struggle to get through this. I cursed all the drink and **** food over the last few weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 966 ✭✭✭john mayo 10

    Tues 5th Jan
4 miles steady pace with 3 running mates.

    Sat 9th Jan
    Parkrun 25.54
A PB since I started back running properly again. Started off way too fast. Forgot to bring GPS watch so didn't know what pace I was going. I was out of my feet at the halfway point so I just eased up to catch my breath. Got passed by a few runners from here to the 4k. Could hear the footsteps of another runner behind me so I pushed on as much as I could and held them off.
Found it hard to run without the watch to check my pace. Happy with the run all the same as I'm going in the right direction. I'm finding it hard to get much running done during the week with work, New baby etc so will try and fit a run in tomorrow and hopefully Monday as well.
Local 5k coming up in 2 weeks time so really looking forward to that.😊

    Sun 10th Jan
    8k tempo pace
    45.00 mins
Had planned a run at a much slower pace but the 2 lads with me had other ideas. Roads were dodgy too until the last 2k which was on a main road. Quickened up the pace from here on and ran the last 2k in about 10 mins. Beautiful morning for a run. Sure what else would u be at at 9 o clock on a Sunday morning
