The new season Man United kit.

It was almost like understated class warfare.

If you had last seasons home jersey, you were poor.

If you had the new season home jersey, you were working class
    .
If you had the new season home AND away jerseys you were middle class.

If you had the new season home, away and the third kit, you were the master of the universe.

    Raleigh Chopper.

Rich kid acquaintences of ours had one. Oh, the envy.

I read afterwards that the throttle style gearstick, the coolest part of the bike, was a threat to the goolies.

The whole shagging thing was a threat to the rider. One of the most unbalanced bikes ever made.

No one cares or cared , they looked cool and still do .
Of course if they went on the market today they'd have to be sold with a gigantic roll of cotton woll for the precious one.

    God I remember this!!

Nike Air's, Levi's - couldn't afford either so never had them sob.

Ironically, this year for xmas, I'm getting my husband a pair of Levi's and he's getting me Nike Runners - however I wouldn't wear them out-out, just for running and work outs

I remember the row with my Da when I came home with a pair of Docs. Only gurriers wore them according to him.

A walkman. Followed closely by "enough batteries to run the walkman, and *gasp* rewind the tape"!

I can't remember any particular clothes brands, anything fashionably torn to shreds would do (think Cindy Lauper). As many bangles as you could fit onto your arm, and especially those clear plastic ones filled with water and glitter.

    And day-glow colours.

Oh, and haistyles that could really only be achieved by starting the day with poking a fork into an electrical socket.
