    Mon 13th Oct
    5mls in 43:39. Avg 8:44.
Was going grand until the last half mile when my calf tightened up. "Here we go again":(. Although the calf felt fine while walking around I decided to take a couple of days off.

    Thurs 16th Oct
    3.27mls in 30:31. Avg 9:20.
Decided to test it out this evening and had no problems, except getting soaked for the second time today. I think I'll keep the runs to 3 or 4 miles for a while.

    Sat 18th Oct
    4.17mls in 36:48. Avg 8:49

Not pleasant. A few Bulmers on Friday night caused acid reflux on this run. Stomach felt crap a day.

    Sun 19th Oct
    4.2mls in 37:06. Avg 8:50

Much better today. Enjoyed this run and was tempted to do another couple of miles but decided not to risk my calf playing up again. Will continue to keep my runs under 40mins until I'm confident its OK.
Bit of a shock when I weighed myself this morning - 13st- thats a stone heavier than this time last year. I'm sooo fat:(

The weight won't be long coming off when you get training consistently again.

    Mon 20th Oct
    3.55mls in 30:43. Avg 8:39

    Tues 21st Oct
    4.53 mls in 41:03. Avg 9:04

These two runs went well, but not getting carried away yet. Run took in part of the DCM course and seeing the traffic diversion signs got me thinking of all my plans made at he start of the year for it. So disappointed I won't be there next Monday.

Ah sad :( but hopefully next year.
Main thing is you're back at it regularly. Great to see it!

My plans are more humble than that. If I get a parkrun in before Christmas I'll be happy;)

    Tues 28th Oct
    4.9mls in 45:20. Avg 8:51

Two tired runs. A long weekend of late nights and early mornings have wiped me out. Too old for all that:(

    Wed 29th Oct
    5.02mls in 41:20. Avg 8:14

First mile slow as usual - 9:22. Then the legs went mad, eh, your running too fast - shut up brain. Don't know if it was the rain or months of frustration but the legs just took off - 8:25, 7:50, 7:47, 7:43. Haven't run that fast in months and it felt so easy. One of those great training runs.
Tonight was suppose to be my mid-week night off but I don't feel like running around wearing hi-vis gear next Friday evening so taking it off instead.

    Thurs 30th Oct
    5.44mls in 48:02. Avg 8:50.

So warm for late Oct. Bit tired this evening. Last evenings run, busy day in work and a case of sleep paralysis last night all took their toll. Rest tomorrow.

    Sat 1st Nov
    6.28mls in 52:09. Avg 8.18.

Ran up to Marley and back. Basically first half uphill and then back down. First run with any hills so happy the calf held up.

    Mon 3rd Nov
    6.14mls in 48:54. Avg 7:58.

First mile approx 9 mins, sub 8 mins after that. A bit fast, tired over the last mile. Chilly evening, tights out for the first time.

    Wed 5th Nov
    6.15mls in 50:27. Avg 8:12

A bad nights sleep on Monday and a busy day in work yesterday left me too knackered to do anything yesterday evening. Bed before 10 and knew nothing till the alarm clock went off at 6:30 this morning.
Good run tonight but maybe a touch of Mondays run still in the legs.

    6.29mls in 51:40. Avg 8:13

    Sun 9th Nov
    6.38mls in 55:53. Avg 8:46

Social life got in the way of training Thursday and Friday. Ran up to Marley yesterday and over to Bushy today. Todays run was meh, just couldn't get into it.
Will continue with the 6 mile runs next week, don't feel I'm ready to move on yet.

    Tues 11th Nov
    6.38mls in 52:33. Avg 8:14.

Was about to get my gear on last night but I looked out the window - na!, not tonight.
A good strong run tonight, first half uphill, second half downhill.

LOL. But I'm saying its my new relaxed approach to training. None of that HTFU stuff for me:p

    Wed 12th Nov
    6.49mls in 58:39. Avg 9:02

Day off so headed over to Bushy. Bit of a slog. Slow but the longest 'time on feet' in a while.
Achilles began to act up towards the end so back to doing heal drops, sorted it out before.
Not sure about training for the rest of the week, the weather forecast is bad.:p

    Any race plans?
Hope a Parkrun before xmas and if that goes OK I'll do some of the BHAA xc in the new year.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 763 ✭✭✭gerard_65

    Sat 15th Nov
    8.11mls in 68:15. Avg 8:25.

Stayed in last night to watch the match. That's 90mins I'll never get back:(.
The plan for this morning was to go a bit further so 7mls was on my mind. Laps of the football pitches in Bushy. Was feeling good so did an extra one. Didn't check the pace on the watch until I got home and was surprised to see, apart from the first mile, every other was sub 8:30. Certainly didn't feel that quick.
Prompted by RC I was thinking about pinning down a date for a race. I was thinking my first race would be the BHAA XC in Tymon which use to be just after the new year, so I'd do a Parkrun around xmas as a warmup, but it looks like that's gone. The next one is Cherryfield on the 17th Jan so that gives me more time. Might wait till after xmas for the parkrun.
Also haven't been to the club in months, definitely have to make an appearance before xmas.

Woke up last Sunday with a head cold and Morton's Neuroma, a nerve swelling in my foot. Both took a week to get rid off. Plans have been messed up but its good to be back after a enforced rest week.
