How is the calf holding up to the training you seems to have had a very good run at it the past while, have you found the secret to keeping the injury at bay?

Foam rolling before and after training seems to have done the trick. When I started my calfs felt full of lumps/knots, after a couple of weeks working with the roller they were much better. If I don't foam roll for a couple of days I can feel the calfs tightening again.

A bad nights sleep on Friday night put pay to my planned race yesterday morning. Just couldn't face a 5 mile XC race in the rain after only a couple of hours sleep, so used it as a rest day. I usually sleep well but some stuff in my life atm which kept going around my head all night. Today I ran up to Tymon Park, one lap and back home. 10 mls, felt good.

5 tired miles. Not sure if its over-training or just my bad mood.:(

Club session tonight. 1 x 1.22mls, 1 x 2mls, 1 x .75mls. This was a repeat of a session we did about 2 weeks ago along the Firhouse road. Much faster tonight. Might test myself in the parkrun in a couple of weeks. 5.6 mls in total.

    Rest

    25th Jan 14
Long run up to the hellfire club this morning. St. Enda's park, Marley Park, Masseys Wood and up to the top of the mountain. Started in the sun and breeze, finished feeling like I was getting sandblasted with hail. Never so happy to jump into a hot shower when I got home. Just over 15mls.

Its been a few weeks. Planter fasciitis sidelined me. My own fault, too much too soon. Stretching the sole of my foot and rolling an small bottle under my foot over the last few days seemed to have helped. Decided to see how it was to run on tonight and did 30 mins easy. Still not 100%. I'll see how I get on tomorrow.

Another easy 30 mins this evening. Better than last night, just an occasional ache in my heal. Didn't notice any discomfort today walking around town. Bought a new pair of supernova's for €85 reduced from €115. Good day so:)

Delighted to hear of the improvement.
You could give these exercises a go

    can't do any harm anyways.
Best of luck with the build up.

Been doing a few of those along with some advice marthastew gave me last Sat. Have really helped and in a short space of time. Hopefully the new shoes will help, just walking around in them I can compare them to my older one's which have lost a lot of support, but there is about 2000 mls on them:eek:

30 mins easy today. Slight discomfort but nothing major. When up to Marley to help out at the parkrun this morning, over 500 running. My reputation for always been injured precedes me:(. Will have to start training smarter.

8 nice and easy mls this morning. Forgot to roll my foot after yesterdays run and a bit of an ache this morning at the start of my run. Eased out after a mile or so but need to keep the rehab up.

6 mls in Bushy. Took a rest yesterday so this run felt great. Maybe a bit fast. Try to back off tomorrow.

6 mls with 4 tempo. Happy with this. The tempo mls where kept just below an uncomfortable zone, the way they should be (I think). I usually do these too fast. Easy for the next two days.
